Have you tried pilates before? If so, did you like it? My first time doing it I HATED it and never did it again until years later but now I obviously LOVE it. 😂 Update: Hurricane has passed us with no damage (literally just light rain) but praying for those affected in the panhandle 🫶🏼 Thank you to those who watched the ads as I mentioned the adsense from this video will be donated to those in Mail. However, don’t forget to check out the description for resources if you want to donate personally 💛
Kyla I watched through every ad. That’s awesome the funds will be donated. Praying for Maui. Also, thank you for mentioning that you have to pay to go to a studio to see results. It was relieving to hear during this economy 😂
I just found your channel the other day and LOVE how informative you are, as well as how you focus on health holistically! I've been doing pilates at a studio for over a year now and 100% agree with all the benefits you talked about. For me I don't mind spending the money to go because it actually kind of motivates me haha. I pay A LOT for the unlimited plan at my studio which encourages me to not skip days unless I really need to (e.g. I'm sick) since I hate wasting money. In addition, my studio does a lot of reformer pilates, which I think is both relaxing and hard work at the same time. When I do it I feel like I'm simultaneously taking a nap while working out 😅. So if there are pilates studios in your area I highly recommend checking one out! Usually they let you have a free intro session which gives you a feel for the types of movements / workouts a reformer allows.
Thank you so much! That means a lot 🥹 but yessss I REALLY want to try a pilates studio but a little nervous to try the reformer haha I’ve only been doing mat pilates 😆
Love hearing your experience with doing Pilates and strength training! I’ve been lifting pretty consistently for the past 3-4 years, and while I love it, lately I’ve been considering changing to incorporate more Pilates and decrease my lifting a bit since I have less time time and energy to lift super heavy during school, as well as for the reasons you discussed. You’ve convinced me to actually do it!!
I’m so glad!! Yes, I use to lift weight 4-5 times a week but now I’m down to 2-3 with adding pilates and yoga and I’m LOVING it (as mentioned in the video haha) ☺️
This is so awesome!! A couple of questions - How long of Pilates session do you do? Do you do Pilates/yoga on a weightlifting day or do you keep them separate? I would love to know more about how your weekly movement schedule looks like! I typically strength train for 4 days a week
It honestly depends on how I’m feeling, especially depends on what phase I’m in in my menstrual cycle. But most of the time it’s about 40-45 mins. I definitely keep them separate! Here is video of how I split my workouts every week: ua-cam.com/video/fOWoW4PyQb4/v-deo.htmlsi=Up3ykiela6biemHX Hope that helps ☺️
Hello! This video is a sign for me. Awesome. I was thinking of doing a "Spetember Reset", I was debating on whether to just do pilates or lift weights at home! But now I see the benefits of doing both and I'm looking forward to it. But I have a small question, how would you distribute doing both if the idea is to do workout 4-5x a week? When it's time to lift weights which days would you do what? Thank you so much for giving me the inspiration to start this new journey and go for it!!!! ✨🧡
Hi!! So excited for you!! 💛 I actually have a video showing my workout split for weighlifting and pilates but basically I lift weights about 3x a week and do Pilates/yoga 2x a week 😊 Here is the video: ua-cam.com/video/fOWoW4PyQb4/v-deo.htmlsi=3eZSWsGyOkCtkTMY
wait omg is that Riverside Arts Market!? 😍😭 I literally just discovered your channel tonight and this is your second video that I’m watching and I saw the pic and I was like wait a sec I know that place! Haha
I love weight lifting and have been training for about 5 months yet want to balance strength, weights, and cardio. Do you have any advice? I’ve done Pilates when on my period but that’s only for a week every month.
Totally understand!! I personally weightlift about 3x a week, pilates/yoga 2x a week, and do HIIT cardio for about 10 minutes AFTER my weightlifting ONLY during my late follicular/ovulatory phase (I cycle sync my workouts as well). Hope that helps 🫶🏼
Do you think someone who hasn’t ever been to a gym or weight lifted or done exercise before should do weightlifting and Pilates. I want to grow my glutes for example but want to have slim arms and a slim waist . So do you think I should do weightlifting and Pilates.
It’s not so much a matter of “should” but more so if you WANT to. I definitely recommend trying it out for a bit to see if that’s the type of movement you enjoy . But if your goal is to grow muscle but lose fat, lifting weights and Pilates is a great start! Obviously diet has a lot to do with it as well.
How do you incorporate it into a routine? Do you do it? Do you dedicate days to it or do you add it onto lifting days at the end of your session or do it before bed do you cut out wait days for Pilates and or yoga is what I’m asking? Thanks for all the info. Love your glutes video.
I kinda want to do pilates more but everyone says my thicker muscular body type looks better than my skinner lean body i had before i started weight lifting.
I only do Pilates with the reformer with weights and I have bigger muscles than I did with just weights. I can do more weights cause Pilates helps get my joints stronger and more stabilized
