I've tried this on and was floored by it. The bracelet was perfect and everything about the design appealed to me. The only negative is the thickness, but I can accept that with a chronograph.
And good grief... Some of the negative comments are beyond immature.
I bought a Speedmaster back in 1974. My watch is the Mark II Professional. I used it when I was flying airplanes. The movement in my watch is not the new Co-Axial movement. The one I have is a manual windup and has no date. It is keeping about plus/minus 1 to 2 seconds per day. About every 4 to 5 years I bring the watch to the Omega service rep to have it cleaned and maintained.
Congratulations that’s a great watch and story
Ive held one several times. Yes, this watch is absolutely a must have from Omega.
Just got one while in Aruba for the Holidays! Thanks for the post, your the guy I go to for advise every time I want a new piece! Happy New Year, keep up the good work!
brilliant review.. I know its a few years old but this is a gem.
My personal favourite watch , hands down ever :) Already own a mark 3.
I own one almost like this, that I bought in 1973 (paid about 180 USD), I had it renovated by Omega some years ago, it was well worth the cost! Mine even has the day in swedish lör i.e sat in english.
A watch worthy of two reviews! Love this frigging thing.
Omg that watch is so 1970's, amazing.
Love this watch. My next purchase
What a beautiful watch!!
I like the dad part of your review, someone who relies on good instruments
Thoughts on this bracelet for a modern 1861 speedy?? How does it compare to the vintage ones for the 861?
HOW LONG IS THE BRACELET? WITHOUT THE EXTENSION..THANKS
Will you do a video review of the two tone version?
I was more very interested with the clasp as I've seen this being fitted on some Omega models that doesn't have the adjustable clasp features. I hope it will fit to the Speedy 1610/930 and that will solve the issue at my 2254 watch.
Hi there. What's your wrist size please?
I actually REALLY like it! I can't wait to see one in person.. I've had so many Omegas in the past... but this one might stay.. finally a keeper.. haha
jjlwis it's REALLY nice in person! the lume on the tachy bezel is awesome!!! the whole watch presence is so high quality.. but as Ariel mentioned.. it's Very thick.... Thicker than some PAM Divers watches!
I totally understand what you mean with "dad watch" and I couldn't agree more..except the price, which is higher than a moon for me.
Personally I love this watch and he's right it is a great tool watch but it's so classically sporty that I love it also I particularly like the band it very well matches the tonneau shaped case and sporty racing dial.
at 7:21, why doesn't the chronograph minutes counter change? It should jump to the next minute when the chrono seconds reaches 12 o 'clock, right?
The movement on the Mark II doesn't have jumping minutes. The chronograph minutes hand moves in small increments.
Is the hour for the chronograph the bottom sub-dial? How does that work if the minutes for the chronograph is only 30 minutes?
if the minute counter is pointing at 30, it's either the start of the hour or at 30 mins, so where is the hour marker pointing?
If the hour counter is pointing at one of the 12 hour marks, its the start of the hour, but if it's half way between 2 hour markers, it's 30 minutes.
I don't that's an elegant solution, but it works
As for Omega's,I really like the vintage ones. (40's to 60's and maybe early 70's.) Even if the smaller size is not in fasion anymore. But most of their later models don't do much for me.
Beautiful...!!
I think one should remind oneself that if the original Mark II had been brought out in 1968 rather than 1969, it would now, in all probability, have been the 'Moon Watch' and we would have all forgotten about the Mark I (as it were). As with everything in life, timing - forgive the pun - is everything.
Well done Omega for putting new life in what should be considered a classic. The 'Moonwatch' that never was.
Thanks for the review Ariel.
AVERY good review Ariel.
Price is High... but still somewhat reasonable... as compared to their planet ocean or there dark side of the moon variants.... but those are with the better movement.. which I like... but I LOVE this model for it's legibility!!!
The "Dad Watch" name is right on! That pretty much nails on the head the subset in which this watch resides!

An interesting throwback, but I tried one on, and boy is it thick.
nice watch,better review
I love the look of the mark 2 when looking down at the dial. The lines of the case are gorgeous. Its my choice of the speedmasters but i find the design is too thick and sits way too tall on the wrist and thats where it loses its appeal for me.
Whats your name?
Great review but took a bizarre turn with the dad stuff.
Looks like the Bulova moonwatch
I own both, and both are worth every penny in my opinion.
I think this guy just called the Speedmaster 'Speedbastard! LOL You can catch it at 1:15 into the video. Fun.
Was this watch made in the 80s?
70's
HOW MUCH!
$6k + USD
OMG 3:49 makes me wanna buy one...
Я бедный студент с Украины и все-равно смотрю эти видео.

Thick AF
God i hate these pillow shaped cases. I love Omegas but not this one.
The case and bracelet - and especially the finishing is stunning. But chronographs with those silly 30 minute sub dials make me so angry and Omega have proved they know better more than once.
A proper dad would wear a central minutes chrono that can be read instantly at a glance and therefore used daily. Most Speedmasters are just fashion watches (which btw is ok, but let’s not fool ourselves).
I think people who get omega really want a rolex?
Or they get an Omega because they don't want a Rolex...
The average Rolex owner in Europe is 67 years old. Lol, that alone makes me avoid Rolex. Cause I'm not near death.
you would be wrong
You talk and talk and talk, but it would be nice to mention the dimensions a little bit sooner. Jeezz.
Can you show us your channel so we can see how a “professional” watch review is done you refugee convict?
Why buy an omega when you can buy a Rolex? Omega as a brand is good but not for me, IWC and Rolex any day. Very good review.
I can see you know nothing about watches and brands
I can see you have too much time to join issues, mr know your brand
Omega is cheaper then Rolex therefore for some, they will buy an omega instead. Ditto iwc which is probably more expensive than Rolex.
I repeat, why buy an Omega when you can add more money and buy a Rolex....now save your elaborate lectures and show tolerance to diverse opinions Mr Random.
@CK ROY, now that's a statement I can agree with! What fool would buy a speedmaster over a Daytona given money no object? Obviously I'd buy a Lange datograph over both :D
10 minutes of blahblahblah but what is the thickness .. well??
Google.
It's a unrefined dog turd of a watch !!!
Ariel has really poor taste in watches! He's an omega fanboy and loves dinner plate specials.

No one has to like my taste in watches, that is cool. Those are legitimate things to disagree one. But everyone seems to be really angry and is making insults and overall responding with a lot of resentfulness. If you have legitimate concerns or counter-arguments why not simply articulate them intelligently which allows people to have a civilized discussion? Mud slinging isn't a particularly sophisticated means of getting your point across.
I suggest a more straight-forward approach to voicing your opinion. Explain that the design of the case does not appeal to you and why. Given the theme it is actually require refined but no one is telling you to enjoy the theme in the first place. I happen to like this watch a lot and have expressed why that is without simply asserting my opinion as law. In response you should share those designs that you feel are in fact refined - which allows for a much more production conversation. Alternatively, if it brings you cathartic feelings to watch videos and simply respond with anger then that is cool.... anyone who puts their opinions online opens themselves up to any type of response people wish to offer. We only try to lead by example by setting the tone. Have a nice day.
I think you earned omega fan boy status by insisting on misinforming people that coaxial movements are in house. If the 8500/9300 are in house then why aren't you saying the master coaxial is in house? Why don't you state the longines chrono movements are in house? ETA makes ALL movements for swatch group brands bar glashutte original.
You can't deny you love huge watches? Europeans and Americans will always have different tastes, I dig that and that part was a tongue in cheek comment.
Btw I'm not obsessed with in house movements as I'm happy to drool over a patek or vc with a lemania chrono movement.
its cool, but, come on, we are not living in 1970s any more. Let's move forward to the future and have some new designs.
There are collectors who like modern pieces with vintages designs
There is no shortage of new designs. Get over it, "new vintage" is in.
Chinaman Champ Actually, I live my life as much as I can in the 70’s....it’s great....that’s why I bought this watch.
Love the design...
There are no such thing as a tool watch these days. They are all dress watches. Just saying.
It looks cheap and boring.
