What's crazy is how many people were complaining about and doubting the casting of both Keaton and Nicholson for this film when it was announced the movie was being made. So many people saw Keaton as only a comedic actor and Nicholson as a weird dramatic actor and gave neither of them any trust in playing their roles well enough to satisfy comic fans and casual movie goers alike. Fast forward to now, and they are both always in the conversation for who is the best Batman and Joker.
Even without nostalgia goggles, Michael Keaton, just like Christopher Reeves as Superman, was born to play Batman. He didn't just deliver a performance, to many he made a childhood hero come to life on the big screen for the first time in 1989.
Finally! The only Batman movie with a Bruce Wayne that people would actually go with "What, him? Batman?! Seriously?", As opposed to the recent spate of psychopaths where people go "Yeah, rich guy dressed as a furry beating up people at night? That tracks."
Man, I really wish Robin Williams was the Joker; he already has that chaotic energy and mannerisms. Plus, if he were still alive today, he would’ve been a great option to play Live Action Robotnik in the Sonic movies; that's my opinion
Also David Bowie, Tim Curry, Brad Dourif, Ray Liotta, John Lithgow and James Woods were considered to play the Joker and Kevin Costner, Harrison Ford, John Glover, Bill Murray, Dennis Quaid, Tom Selleck and Charlie Sheen for Batman. Man, could you imagine Charlie Sheen as Batman?!🤣
To my knowledge, Robin Williams was just the bait to led Nicholson into the rol, this happened because these 2 had a rivalry. Years later Williams was asked to return as the Riddler, but he declined, still bitter for what happened in 1989.
'Go get'? Nah, bro. Phone books were thrown at your front door. These things were the size of large dictionaries, too. So if they missed the door, they could come right in through your closed window.

Ruff in The Batman begins the cave that was under his house definitely had bats in it. In the dark knight he used a different location cuz his house was being rebuild after burning down in the first movie. All of the animated showed bats in the cave. Damn Ruff
Quite the surprise reaction! Burton's Batman was very influential to the character, much like the The Animated Series. (Biggest example for me is the Lego Batman games, they're very much Burton/BTAS-influenced) I love all live-actions for their unique qualities. Affleck is my personal favorite, i love not just his portrayal and suit design, but his arc from a jaded-vigilante who kills to his redemption through Superman's influence leading to his hopeful role as the Justice League's leader(Really wished we got his Vs. Deathstroke movie. If Jay Oliva, the man behind the animated movies, said the script was peak, i believe it). Bale i grew up with and have a lot of fondness for, thw grounded approach was refreshing at the time and their villains were fantastic. Also grew up with TV runs of Schumacher's movies, they were very fun of a young Batman fan like i was back in the early 2000s, felt like a evolution of the Adam West tone with Burton's stylings, even if with some flaws. And Pattinson i just watched recently and loved everything about it. The tone, the story, the suit, the mystery, an excellent Elseworlds movie. And that's not even mentioned all other medias plus the many comic runs and universes. Batman, much like all of DC, is fantastic! Can't wait for what the Sorta Stupid Crew tackles next!
I vividly remember the day I watched this movie at the theater when I was just 8 years old. My dad, a huge Batman enthusiast, was eager to share his passion with me. At that age, I was a die-hard Superman fan, convinced he was the coolest superhero around. So, my dad took me to see Batman, hoping to show me just how awesome the Dark Knight could be. Little did I know, it would be a day filled with excitement and a newfound appreciation for a hero cloaked in shadows!

There are legitimately Interior Decorators that order “Books by the Foot” for Library rooms and book cases. I’ve been to homes where they are delivered and thrown on the shelves without anyone knowing what the books are, just what color and size they are😢
Fun fact: around the end of the movie when Joker asked for the helicopter to come around the top of the tower in about 10 minutes, 10 minutes actually passed. Thats a neat detail some people overlook Also, there was a moment when Bruce was checking Joker’s file & there was a mugshot of his young self hidden on the left side of the file as Bruce accidentally put the pictures of the present Joker on top of him to look at more of the file. So if he saw that picture he would’ve instantly identified him It also is evidence that this person is the Joker, cause throughout the movie Joker hasn’t really confirmed that it was him. But with this small detail that proves that this person was the one who killed his parents The details are amazing Also not a special fact just a matter of opinion, I think the way Batman moves is really unique that most people don’t give enough credit for. I think the way he moves is more alien, more like the armour he’s wearing has more weight to it. Yeah moving the neck is more essential when fighting crime but I think it’s just more cool that way^^
Tim Burton isn't someone I ever associated with Batman as a kid, but it makes SO MUCH SENSE. With they kept this energy for the rest of the 90s Batman films.
it is interesting to see the reactions of people who have seen later Batman first, and who know Batman's origin and thinks this is how the movie begins. In 89, no one had seen Batman's origin on the screen, tv or movie. Adam West's Batman certainly didn't show a scene like this. This was the first time it was shown, obviously it existed in comics (i believe), and being 8 at the time, it took me a long time to realize Joker didn't kill Batman's parents (it took me a while to realize book to film translations are never 1 for 1)
The Adam West show at least *mentioned* that his parents had been murdered, but it didn't dwell on it or show it. And there was that one cartoon which had an episode about it, but I'm fairly certain most people who saw the 89 film didn't watch that.
Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it this Batman that they used for a Diet Coke ad? Where he’s zooming around Gotham in the bat mobile looking for a vending machine selling coke and like, all of them are either sold out or out of order and when he finally finds one with one left catwoman swoops in and steals it.
7:30 That's ROBERT WUHL?? I'm currently on a American Dad binge, and saw him guest starring there without actually having ever seen anything with him before. This is I think the first film where I realize who Wuhl is.
32:55 The exterior of Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, England was used as the location for Wayne Manor in Tim Burton's 1989 film Batman. The interior of Hatfield House in Hertfordshire was also used for Wayne Manor.

Batman & Robin (1997) might unironically be one of my favorite Batman movies despite all the hate. You guys gotta watch the sequel to this one, Batman Returns, with Danny DeVito as the Penguin!
