Drawing up some pods for my tunnel hull jet boat, planning to cut parts on the waterjet tomorrow and weld on later this week. I like your weld procedure with the flat bar. I'm definitely going to use that on mine
I'm not sure the brand but i'm not in love with it. The round dial spins vertical on the torch. I prefer Around nob that spins left and right. Unfortunately I have the same one on my welder at home. Miller said it was the only option?
Nice job adding the pods. Are they foamed or are they empty? I am curious to know the before and after buoyancy results....I would love to have some but last guy really screwed the pooch on my installation and I had to have the transom redone due to all the leaking and hole burned clear through......
What do you charge for welding pods onto a boat? Seriously. I have a 1754 SC tracker grizzly that I use for ducks and summer fishing. It would be ideal to be able to get skinnier in the water. Is this a bad idea for me or is it viable? I live in Richmond, but am currently overseas. Most likely a spring time idea. Pods would be provided to you and most likely would be beavertail since they are readily available.
They add buoyancy to the back of the boat. It basically brings the back end up so it sits higher in the water. It drafts less water, and allows you to run the shallows. Mainly used on duck boats. You see a lot of them in the Florida keys, flats, and marshes.
@@TRICKEDTINShow was the water test? I’m about to do same on my 1648. Was curious if you took into account the 1/2 tilt they want for flat bottom from end of transom to end of pod. Obviously these are semi v
Tricked Tins? This is my type of channel ! Thanks for the inspiration Brotha
Thank man! Welcome!
I can't weld so I thru- bolted my pods on. I wish I could have mine welded like that!

Just had mine welded on today. 14/48 seamark
Never heard of a Seamark?
What are the dimensions of the pods? Curious if I can fit them on my 1648 with enough room for the motor to turn.
What were you using for filler while welding these on? ER5356?
Yep
Where did you get the turf pads for the floor? How much? And easy install? Great video!
I get all my turf from fabricsdirect4you.com/
Its pretty simple to install. Check out my other videos. I install it in all my builds.
What finger control you running?

I’m think bout trying that ssc touch 4
That is a nice install, welds
Thanks brotha
I was wanting to do the same thing. I'm thinking about using my spool gun instead of tig welding it
I’m certified in mig tig stick and sub arc but someone else is doing mine because I don’t have enough experience with aluminum
Time to get into tig aluminum brotha!

Damn. That sucks. Like i said in the video "I don't recommend a novice welder attempt it"
Foam does not add buoyancy , it makes ur shit float if it sinks😂
Do you know if these were the small or medium size beavertail pods?
I'm pretty sure these were the medium ones.
Nice job big dog! Keep grinding man. You do some awesome work.
What do you charge for pod installs? I’ve got a 1754 grizzly side console that I need beaver tail pods welded onto.
Usually around $400-$500
Where are you located? In just north of Richmond.
Nice welds, aluminum on John boats aren’t the best aluminum to weld on in the first place. 👍
Thanks brotha

I charge $350-450 depending on the size of pods, and shape of the transom. TrickedTinsJonboats.com
What are they for ? never seen this before.

It doesn't look like these add much buoyancy. How much do they decrease draft running and still and how is performance enhanced?
Idk yet? Ill follow up after its water tested.

Good welds
Thanks brotha
The title is does float pods make a difference and so far it's been about welding them on
Good point I'll make another video about how they make a difference very shortly!
@@TRICKEDTINSlooking forward to it!
Nice work
Thanks brotha!
