Hello Jesse, I just wanted you to know that I'm a High School teacher (American History and Government) in Appleton City, MO and I will often show your videos to my classes to break from the monotony of lecture or lift the mood. They love you!
THIS ABSOLUTELY MADE MY DAY!! Happy tears 🥲🥲 Shoot us some topics you think we should cover! We’d love to make a collab with your students and shout you guys out 😊
@@wiserlivingrealty we also have horses in the down town area with carriages people can pay for to ride. but I can say not a single person in st louis follows that law🤣 let alone most traffic laws🤣🤣
Several county police equestrian units exist in Missouri; I used to work for Civil Defense and the individual mounted sheriff's unite work the county fair or other special events: they also do Search and Rescue in places where you wouldn't even consider taking a 4-wheel drive! Greene County (Sheriff's) Mounted Patrol always helps out at the annual fair at night.
I lived on the Hill area in St Louis and we had Hill Days. They sold the beer in buckets straight out of the kegs. I think the held about 3 bottles of beer. This was in the early 70’s.
Before bottling beer became common, beer was sold by the bucket. And, the buckets were usually soaped on the inside to prevent frothing while they were run by foot to your door by children.
According to Jefferson City I was told I couldn't receive a copy of Missouri laws lady told me it would take hundreds of pages there are over 6,500 pages of laws
Honestly I've found it on multiple articles on the web.... but I can't find the actual law. So I know it's out there but tracking it down is another thing😂
I had a guy tell me, in Hermann, his grandfather, would send him down to the bar, to fill up his bucket. He was well under 21. Everywhere, you can't just open a bank account for another person. Guy I worked with said, he played a joke o his cheap friend. 1/2 way between KC and Warsaw, is the town of Tightwad. So he opened up an account for his friend. At The Bank of Tightwad.
Some of these laws are so ridiculous, that as a Columbia resident, I'm intentionally going to break them just to see what happens. Does anyone have an elephant I can borrow?
Probably to late to be read, but the whole "drinking beer from a bucket" thing is a reference to an outdated practice. In the late 19th and early 20th century it was common for bars to fill up small buckets of beer, called "growlers". Canned beer hadn't been invented yet, and bottling beer was expensive. There were even people who made a living delivering growlers of beer to workplaces. This was an early prohibition law put in place shortly before the 18th amendment that is actually not unique to St. Louis, but most places struck it from their books a long time ago. The modern glass growler takes it's name from these buckets of beer and modern, larger, buckets of beer filled with ice and a 6 pack are both much more recent developments. TLDR, it was a no drinking in public law.
That man tax probably stems from the idea that a man needs to get married young so that his wife can settle him down and stop him from being a wild, crazy and reckless young man.
A lawyer got my friend out of trouble in an accident by stating, in the dialogue between the two lawyers during litigation, that is was ILLEAL to blow an automobile horn on Sundays.. Also, unless it has been repealed, it was illegal for Missouri State Patrolman to 'chew tobacco' on duty!
I do think Missouri would have passed those laws back in the day, so it's possible! 😂 Also- I kind of hope that would be illegal? That's such a strange way to pass the time, but I don't know much about it 🤷🏻♂️
This was so funny. I’m from Illinois and wanting to purchase a home in the next two years and was thinking of possibly moving to St. Louis MO so I’m trying to get a feel of the area and this video was so funny. Missouri is weird

Small town in MO here, we still have law that its illegal to spit on the sidewalk. I have a theory on this, back when it was made, sidewalks were wooden, and tobacco spit stained them. Another one its illegal to tie horse in front of city hall. I was walking daughters beagle, and she took a dump on the sidewalk in front of city hall. FBI ain"t got us yet. Also, if you drive thru city limits after dark, your lantern must be affixed to front of automobile, can't just hold it.
How interesting....wooden sidewalks? Ive never heard of such a thing!!! That's a law I haven't heard of either. Also, be watching those beagles, you'll be serving time before you know it! 😂
Also a law that was recently abolished in Jasper county... If u spend more than one year in county jail the state must give u a dollar gold piece a rifle and a horse upon release.....
HAHAHA! Got ya! Just kidding 😂 I believe this was actually to prevent people coming up to your car to honk the horn, although I'm not certain about the specifics 🤷🏻♂️

Fun fact owning a shotgun isnt that bad as it cost significantly more for ammo and the gun that 5 dollars for a cap gun and 50 cents for some caps. So I do think it's logical that they can own a shotgun but not a cap gun because no way in hell can a kid afford a shotgun.
Great video, but you've accidentally perpetuated a myth.
