Also you can argue if you're on a freeway where everyone is going 70 mpg and the speed limit is 55 mpg, if you get pulled over in the state of California you can argue that the minimum speed limit was above the maximum speed limit, and therefore you would be breaking the law no matter what. For this reason, police will usually only pull over someone who is speeding if they are weaving between cars or going noticeably faster than the cars around them. This is an argument to make in court, not to the officer.

It's incorrect that the Happy Birthday song is trademarked. Per a recent court case, a particular recorded version of the song is trademarked. The lyrics and melody, however, are not. The problem is that, until 2016, Warner Bros. religiously and overzealously prosecuted any use of the song, despite not having a clearly defined trademark on it (they assumed they did, since they owned the rights to the first publicly-available recording of the song; the song, however, existed for decades before this recording).
As stated in other comments, no one will do anything to you for singing the Birthday Song. The idea that someone will sue you for trademark infringement is just a myth fed by a bit of real life corporate malfeasance.

Its amazing how we are often punished for breaking the law when most of us are never even taught what laws there are, that's like expecting someone to know how to operate a rocket without even explaining what a rocket even is. Well the birthday song isn’t copyrighted anymore since Warner Chappell lost the rights in 2015 and it is now in public domain.
Me and my parents went to Target once, and a old person put multiple clothes, including the ones from the clothes section and it walked out scott free, and the security didn't even go after to check, and that was a long time ago. These laws are just bleh, and bland. But some are ok, but some also should let us have privacy.

6:40 when I attended Asbury in Kentucky, the fire department was within ear shot of my window. The campus is so old it was still heated by a steam boiler and underground pipes. When the finally upgraded and installed a communal microwave, they installed it directly under the smoke detector. I can't tell you how many nights someone burned popcorn and put us all on the sidewalk while the annoyed fire chief checked the microwave before looking for an actual fire. It became a running joke. I remember one night during finals week, the chief came to the campus while the rest of the crew where gearing up at the station. He called them off before they arrived cuz he found a scorched popcorn bag.
