Honestly loved the mix matched camo. In my opinion it breaks up your silhouette better than all the same camo. Throwing off the perception of the eyes. I always broke up my kit with different camos or solid colors that were allowed under regs. Think SSgt. James from 'Hurt Locker', as I was issued UCP.
It’s so stylish. I always thought it looked the most intimidating, it’s weirdly psychological. Tri desert camo also has a pleasant abstraction that balances so well with the straight angles of equipment.

Though a lot of people like the older ones because they're easier to move around in, even if the new ones do offer better protection.
What a vibe. Great work! One thing: your cat eye band should be put on your helmet before the rhino mount, helps to keep it secure. Rabbit ears can keep cat eye bands secured on the backside of your helmet
As an Iraq veteran, I can tell you that you're missing eye pro, elbows and knees pad, was that a side arm? Because you're missing the gas mask. And let's not forget the plates. If that was a night's mission, you're forgetting your NVGs. Where's your water source? You're a no go at this station 😅
I have a question to you as a veteran: Did you really wear this extended plate armor that covers your nuts as it's shown in the video? Cause I have never seen this before, but it's just logical. A hit in the nuts would cause the soldier to give up military service
@mrwheeljack2820 thats the IBA or interceptor multi threat body armor system, introduced in the 70s. @porchmunkey55 Its actually allot better in my opinion to have your gun belt sit on top of your pants belt makes things allot less uncomfortable and the bottom seam of your blouse or frog top (combat shirt) is less likely to get caught on shit

Man I miss the DCU and woodland vest combo, reminds me of a simpler time, before the dark ages, before the empire..
Dark times*
oh wow, I'm amazed at the simplicity of the whole fighting kit, it looks neat and nice
It's heavy as f... That balistc vest takes away all your mobility
It looks heavy and hot. The mid war. SPCS was the peak in big army issue kit. We regressed with the Gen 3 and 4 IOTV.
That’s me baby! Circa 2003-2006, Iraq. Combat Engineer. Hell yeah man! Good stuff!
It’s so stylish. I always thought it looked the most intimidating, it’s weirdly psychological.
Tri desert camo also has a pleasant abstraction that balances so well with the straight angles of equipment.
Missing oakleys half jackets, Blackhawk CQB Belt, combat earplugs(green part thrown away/ use yellow end so you can hear), benchmade folder clipped anywhere you like. MRE spoon slid into any loop you like. Camel backs work and I added a pouch for NVG’s and a pouch for goodies. Carabiner on vest to hang gloves with 550 cord loops on each to hang from carabiner/ D ring. Stash a few MRE snacks in your pockets and your set to go. Good start for pre 2007.
Oakleys if you were in a high speed unit or maxed out the Star Card at the Motard store. We were rocking the issue WileyX in '04.
@@brad506th joes hated me, no star card’s period quick way for a joe to get in trouble with CDR and broke.
Buddy you didn't DO SHITE...sit down with the stolen valour
@@chargedx5768 nah he described what we had to a T. Most units had a ton of money once you came down on orders and they'd order all sorts of high speed stuff. We also had the serpa drop holsters for our M9s.
But like the dude above said we had wiley X's bc we bought acog's and red dots instead before they were standard MTOE for everyone. We then proceeded to leave them locked in a connex
I don't understand how you can use earplugs in combat. Seems like you couldn't hear commands or hear the enemy. How does that work ?

@@sys3248 We started getting them eventually, Camelbacks are standard issue now. Problem with them is it's a pain to make them work if you gotta have a rucksack on like if you're out on a foot patrol or something, everybody just figured out their own way to make it work. This is also the old vest, the newer IOTV is a lot bigger with additional add-ons like a neck protector for shrapnel. Though a lot of people like the older ones because they're easier to move around in, even if the new ones do offer better protection.

Why can’t you? You can make any kit you want. Make a better one.
@@garyhochstetler7082 Well basically no one sells good M81 style urban camouflage.
The cock blocker is detachable, and there is also optional shoulder and neck protection pieces; newer versions have some thigh pieces too. Nonveteran military factoid nerd here though, so I'm probably missing some practical knowledge or might be partially wrong.
@dankoproductions6475 the newer IOTVs have the groin protector, a rear plate than hangs over your bum, shoulder pauldrons and a neck protector, but I don't wear them cause it's heavy AF and doesn't actually do anything for you.
@mrwheeljack2820 the groin protector is soft armor that protects against fragmentation and other debris
@jerrblaise I know that's why I don't wear it, the fuck is it going to do for me? Extra weight on top of all the other shit I have to carry. ProMask, M17,Holster and 3 extra mags for it, 6 M4 Mags, M4/M204B and My Company Medics MEDBAG.
It’s amazing how much better everything fits nowadays compared to these first gulf war kits
I love these generational kit videos.
This makes the new kit seem so much more comfortable
When wearing the equipment, it is mandatory to play this background music
Do you know what music it is?
26 year Army veteran 1985-2012 (11B/19E/19K/19D) we never tucked in our blouses (tops-shirts) for any combat purpose.
You right. I trained army rot-ceeee 1983 to 1987, did Engineer obc after college graduation, late 1988 to Jan 1989, then one year, no pay in a reserve unit 1990 before gulf war began. Unit stayed in Denver. And me with No vet status.....
We still had woodland camos. YES, you correct, Never saw anyone with the upper bdu tucked in. Is this guy, current or Ex military, or just a player?
I'm in now (usmc) and we tuck in our blouse so we can use our belt to carry gear instead of the issues battle belt gear it's obnoxiously large, or so we can comfortably wear our own personal gun belt.
@porchmunkey55newer combat shirts are better. Always tuck in simply so you can use a battle belt though.
@porchmunkey55 Its actually allot better in my opinion to have your gun belt sit on top of your pants belt makes things allot less uncomfortable and the bottom seam of your blouse or frog top (combat shirt) is less likely to get caught on shit
We had drop holsters for m9's on our high speed Blackhawk tactical belt so we didn't have to use the lame ass belts they issue that end up under your arm pits (2006) and we didn't tuck our stuff in. Ypu wanted as much ventilation as possible
DCU pants, helmet cover and shirt, plus M81 IBA checks out for accuracy.
Summer flyer gloves are my favorite. They wear out pretty quick, but they're the most comfortable gloves to wear for day-to-day work. Pretty cheap too.
Buy a size under that's nice and tight so it stretches to your hands.
