To use the ez clean bulkhead how far up is the 7/8 hole drilled from the bottom of the kettle?

Good video, my question is not brewing related but I want to fit a ball valve to my 20L stockpot. I want minimal protrusion on the inside. Is there a way to do this? Or would I have to get a welded fitting?
    Thanks

Morebeer knows how to weld. Hence they have a much nicer kettle.

Great kettle but the tape that is shipped with it is very cheap

Hand tight only? Surely that will not provide an adequate seal? And what stops the valve from just spinning around??
