I own a 2003 Sahara and I have had it for 5 years so far (5th or 6th owner) with only 136k miles and I still love it as much as I did when I drove to go get it.
I owned a 2006 TJ Rubicon Unlimited for a few years and loved it! Mine had the 6 speed manual transmission, a 4" lift and 33" wheels.Unfortunately, I had left-knee replacement surgery in Feb 2021 and subsequently found it very laborious to shift gears in the following months, post surgery. I sold it, the following July. It was a lot of fun though.
The memories! I had a 97 4 banger and an 06 inline 6 cylinder. The sway bar links had to be changed at every oil change but other than that…..they were bulletproof!
No electronic nannies, no over priced ‘ convenience packages’ that offer crap like power ashtrays and heated sun visors for $6000, no automatic transmission. Just an off road ready truck. If Jeep would offer a slightly updated version of that Wrangler today for around 35k, I would buy one tomorrow. Instead, we have dealer lots full of $70,000 overweight, overblown mall crawlers designed for nobody.
You are spot on about the TJ being modern yet old school. I own a stock TJ Rubicon and new Wrangler JL, and I think I love my TJ a bit more (except all the money I’m dumping into it to restore it). Jeep needs to build a modern TJ wrangler and make it affordable. I’m talking TJ dimensions but updated with newer tech (but not to the degree the JL has been). I guess that doesn’t make a lot of sense, but some Jeep owners will get what I’m trying to say.
I still have my (since new) 2006 TJ Sport (manual), with a 2" OME lift...Unfortunately, I could no longer get the Rubicon...But It still drives like new! (Smooth, no death wobble, holds the road perfectly at highway speeds, and will still go 80+ mph, (as long as there's no head wind)...
Nuh uh digital gage cluster wins every time easy to see the speed and is easy to see if you are at 21 or 24 compared to analog in analog it's only easy to see 10, 20 and 30 dso on
I laugh how many times he keep pointing out it’s a two door there’s no such thing as a four-door TJ the closest you’ll get to that is a TJU or an LJ which is if you didn’t know but Stella two-door just longer
I bought a brand new 98 TJ Sport w/full doors and soft top, 5 psd man. $19k. It was a fun Jeep but it was a miserable bastard lol. All kinds of electrical issues from 1k miles and beyond. I’d never own another Jeep of those days, Fiat of today.
I'll take the wrangler that's before the TJ the ones from the 70s I believe those you could get in a V8 I could be wrong but the Wranglers from the 70s I'll take over any other Wrangler in my opinion.
@@texandy89 Except, the "Wrangler" name didn't start until the YJ, in 1987...Before that, Jeeps were named by their model, i.e. CJ (Civilian Jeep) 2, 3a, etc...I still go by those; so after the CJ Series, came the YJ, (1987-1996) the TJ (1997-2006), the JK (2007-2018) and the Jeep JL (2019-present)...
@tripleseven8361 Thanks for the info I did not know that. I do hear people using those terms in my opinion it's a bit confusing maybe since I don't own a Jeep even though my parents owned a Jeep Cherokee the older body styles from the 80s/90s when we lived in Mexico City Mexico for three years as expats that Jeep was a cool vehicle when we had it. We couldn't import it to Texas where I'm originally from due to the emissions and the way the vehicle was built for that country. Thank you for the information I appreciate it.
@@texandy89 That's too bad that you couldn't have kept your Cherokee...Up here in Canada, a vehicle has to be at least 15 years old, before they can be imported...Of course, from an emissions stand point, the rule makes no sense...Thanks for sharing!
Hard to argue with a 4.0L and a 5-speed. Classic rig and VERY capable.
I have a 2004 TJ Rubicon that I bought new, they are probably the last of the truly owner maintainable jeeps. Elegant simplicity and very durable.
I had a 1979 CJ5 , talk about simplicity. Had a blast in it !!
This is the best Wrangler made!
As a 19 year owner of a 2005 TJ Wrangler Sport, I endorse this message.
18 for me...(2006 Sport)
It would be nice if you could find an LJ wrangler to do review on!
the origional unlimited came stock with 3.73 gears & a lsd

Love it! Do more older vehicles like this if you can. Cheers!
2003 or 2004 Rubicon with the 5 speed manual are my favorite Wrangler years of all time.

the 70's were the haydays of awesome cars trucks and semi trucks

Agreed, but getting a Suzuki Jimny into Canada & USA, would come close!

Most people will never remember that cars used to be like this. Take me back please
Ben do more old vehicles
I miss them had 3 and 1 LJ great, put about 750 k miles on them
This is the GOAT jeep
I have this exact jeep in LJ in White with auto. Very best jeep. I have 54k miles. I will never sell this
I don't care what year of the vehicle they did a fantastic job on this jeep
The last good jeep made. You won’t put 300k miles on a new one like these tanks.
Not a lot out there more capable off road then a 2 door TJ on 37s and long arms.
Did it jiggle your jello? The other day I drove an uncontrollable pogo stick aka a JK 2 door with big lift.
"I forgot to put the key in the ignition" 😂😂

I'm old school so when it comes to trucks and performance cars, I will only ever buy analog
don't see this jeep for sale on their website.
When jeeps are bad it’s an “EXPERIENCE”

Do they give used cars to review? I thought they dont

My 1986 CJ-7 Renegade was $16,100 CAD plus tax, when I bought it off the lot!
Truck is junk my best friend died in Rubicon, Truck folded like soda can on impact wish they would stop making it

CJ-5s and 7s...(But I don't think the 7 was available in an 8 cyl....)
@@tripleseven8361 I figured one of those had and the other maybe did not thank you for clarification.
