  • Easy crochet blanket pattern. Crochet for beginners. Crochet UP and DOWN granny blanket. Crochet blankets made easy. Simple beautiful pattern this granny up and down cluster is SO EASY even for an absolute beginner.
    (please note: This pattern staggers the clusters row after row, this is why you have 2 UK trebles at the beginning and end of the 1st 2 rows, then only 1 UK treble at the beginning of the next 2 rows as the pattern staggers in and out, so must the ends, this way the clusters look like your building a wall)

    FOR THOSE CONFUSED WITH THE END OF THE ROWS... This pattern staggers in on the 1st row then the 2nd set of clusters staggers out. So if your 1st row has 19 clusters your next set of clusters will have 20. Then 19 for the next row as it should stagger IN then 20 for the next set as it will again stagger OUT. This is why you have 2 UK trebles at the start and end of your 1st and 2nd row then only 1 UK treble at the start and end of the next 2 rows these are the rows the stagger the pattern. The rows with 1 treble at the beginning and end will be the rows with the extra cluster. You can have as many as you like on the 1st row of YOUR blanket but remember the next set will have 1 more cluster. The pattern is sets of 2 rows (the granny part then the top gathered cluster row) 4 rows will make the full stagger in and out pattern. The 2 rows with 2 at the end is the set in row. The 2 rows with the 1 treble on the end is the one that staggers OUT in a bit. I hope this help those struggling to work out the pattern (it staggers out and in out and in )

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  2 роки тому +1

      Rebecca, I don't know what you mean by change?? use the hook size on your yarn label. It shouldn't curl (it could be your tension so try one half size bigger hook) this will slacken off your work. If yours continues to curl keep going you can always dampen it with water pin it down flat on a dry towel then cover it with another dry towel then leave your blanket to dry this should flatten it. I have made 4 of these and none have curled up, it could be the yarn.

    I am an experienced crocheter but I am totally confused about what to do on the end of the row. You said it is a two row repeat but rows 3 and 4 end differently than rows 1 and 2. Rows 1 & 2 end with 2 dc (American terminology) but rows 3 & 4 end with 1 dc. I watched the video several times and even wrote down the instructions but can't figure it out. I love this pattern and I'm sure it will be easy once I learn what to do at the end of the row. I want to make it and even made a trip to Hobby Lobby to get yarn for it. Hope you can help. Thank you.

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  2 роки тому +2

      It's because the 2nd set is staggers over the top of the 1st set that's why the ends are different number of chains.

    • @suebarrett374
      @suebarrett374 2 роки тому +1

      Can you explain the 3rd 4th row please.

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  2 роки тому +1

      Sue, I hope this helps. Rows 1 and 2 make the cluster they have 2 UK trebles at the beginning and end of each row.. Row 3 and 4 stagger out and have 1 extra cluster they have 1 UK treble at the beginning and end of each row, this way the pattern sits in-between the row below as you crochet. So lets say your 1st set of clusters is 19 then you next set will be 20 as it needs to stagger and rest in between the clusters of the row below it,

  • @sharonvw2892
    @sharonvw2892 2 роки тому +1

    I love this pattern, however I am confused about the end of the rows.the first 2 rows there are 2 double crochet at the end. Then the 3rd and 4th end is only one double crochet . This is makinking my blanket not straight.

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  2 роки тому +1

      Sharon, if you notice the 2nd set of rows staggers in these have less clusters that's why there is a difference at the ends of those rows so it takes you in-between the clusters in the row below. You build your rows staggering them between the rows below your blanket wont be straight because your probably not going back out again. its hard to explain if you watch the video and paus it then look down my blanket you will see what i mean. Lets say you blanket has 20 clusters on the first row, you will stagger your nest set IN ONE in between the the row below so you should have 18 clusters on that row the next row you place a cluster right at the beginning and the very end again making 20 clusters so you will have a row with 20 a row with 18 then a row with 20 then 18 (each cluster is 2 rows to make it) thats why you have 2 stitches at the end of 2 rows then 1 stitch at the end for 2 rows then back to 2 at the end.

      Yes I am working on one just now. I'm doing it in white sparkle yarn looks like ice frosting on a cake yummy. I'm putting 2 clusters 1 chain into the corners. (I'm trying to stop it flaring out at corners, might have to do it as 2 trebles one chain 2 trebles at corner) I will work on a circle too when i get it correct as you need to increase and i am trying to do it without increase lines showing up

    Alison I have started this blanket but am confused about the ends of row 3 and 4. Is it a 4 row repeat pattern. I am totally stuck and can’t work it out. Thank you.

      i pinned a comment to the top of the comments list I hope it helps everyone struggling with the trebles at the beginning and end of the rows the pattern staggers out 1 cluster on the 2nd set so lets say you have 19 clusters in your 1st row you will have 20 in the next set above that then it will go down to 19 again as you work the pattern each cluster set is made over 2 rows and 4 rows makes a full section.

      I don't know sorry, as I don't know how wide you want it. try doing your chain along a measuring tape until its as wide as you need it to be. (That's what I do all the time)
