I recently got an xp-pen artist 15.6 and I'm *really happy* with it. Because I live in Argentina, I had to pay *us$610* for it and it is the older model but, even with this drawbacks, I couldn't ask for more. I got this for my 11 year old for Christmas. We live in Atlanta and a lot of our friends have gone to SCAD university im hoping this will be a good entry level drawing pad to help her get the industry standard at a young age. Is this correct to think? Thank you in advance for your comments.
@@ayaneagano6059 its 50/50 she seems to be starting projects on an android tablet, but then brings it into Photoshop, on her computer with this drawing pad to finish it. So yes she likes having professional equipment to really make it how she wants. but the ease of starting ideas with a portable tablet seems to be where it all begins. hope this helps
My kids just got me this for X-mas since I have a project I want to work on. I'm not a professional artist as much as a sketcher and painter. As a beginner, I am having trouble with the color features. It doesn't do color for me. Maybe you talk in one of your tutorials about using layers. I will look at them to find out. Thanks for doing those. A gripe I have is that with all the wires, it is not a lean-back-in-your-chair and hold it on your lap while you sketch tool. Maybe they will do something about that at some point!
I love Xp pen! I recently got the star 06 mainly because I wanted the little rotating wheel but everything about it just feels great. I don't feel ready to try with a screen because I'm clumsy and have a ton of cats that just love to lie on my tablet but I will definitely stick with xp if I do.
I also have been curse with gigantic hands and i just bought this pad a week ago. I would guess that the screen size doesn't matter much, considering you can zoom in and out for the small details
Thank you for actually taking the time to do a drawing with the device to put it through its paces. I actually bought an XP Pen stand you showed in the video separately for my ipad and im really happy with it, I thought on amazon it also said most XP Pen tablets dont come with the stand... Ive tried to used huion and wacom drivers on the same PC and yeah its the same problem, one usually cancels out the other.
I watched your review of the Veikk tablet not that long ago, ordered one and got it in the mail a few days ago. Should I return it? This one seems cheaper and apparently is better quality lol Thoughts?
Man. that's a difficult question. On one hand this is more streamlined and a higher quality performance. The Veikk does a damn good job too, but it is slightly thicker. How do you plan to use it? On your lap or on a desktop? The Artist12 isn't as thick. The thing I liked about the veikk is that you can actually use it like a little table on your lap. And the screen quality of the Veikk IS better and more vibrant than the Artist12.
I currently have a desktop setup right now with the iMac, however a few years (hopefully sooner) from now I'm hoping to get a laptop so I can travel with equipment. I use photoshop to do digital paintings and eventually thinking of getting into animation. I want a tablet that will last and keep up with the production of newer and newer tablets, I don't have the money to buy a new one every few years. Thanks@@TrentKaniuga

Im using Deco 01 + PenPN05. I think its the best choice for those who wants fine price, quality, and top specifications of graphic tablet. Btw its japanese brand. Looks like Wacom was just a monopolists and their price was pumped from nothing. But having a famous brand, not makes u draw better, right? For the compare, same size and spec. will be x6 increased price than Deco 01. Im also can advice Star 6, 6C, 3. (Sorry for my English)
Hi, I just ordered XP PEN Artist 12 Pro. I'm left handed and I'm having a difficulty with the cursor. After I tried holding the pen on my right hand, the cursor seemed better since it's a little above the pointer, but in my left hand, the cursor is below the pointer and my pinky finger blocks it a little. Is there any settings for the cursor? I've also sent this question to their site. Thank you. Edit: My temporary solution was instead of rotating the pentab settings, I used the Landscape flip instead from windows. The cursor seems consistent now but not sure if that's a legit changer
Hey man, appreciate the video thanks. Lots to think about. I have a small Wacom tablet and am considering a draw on screen tablet as an alternative. I have trouble with pen location on my tablet and using it becomes annoying. By that I mean where on the canvas my pen touches down in relation to where that is on my tablet. It always seems to be off to the side of the tablet. I googled how to change the location of my pen but couldn't figure it out. A screen drawing device wouldn't have this problem presumably. Has something to do with two screens? For my pen to be the center of the canvas I need to place the window halfway through the two monitors which is obviously not viable.
Hi, I’m about to buy xp pen deco pro, but I might buy this one too. I have an 30” 4K monitor connected to a laptop, so what do you say, should I give 70$ more and buy this one ?
I can't find the video where you continue colorizing this sketch, it's gone from my playlists too, did you remove it? :( Or am I missing something? It was my go-to video. Please share the link, anyone
Hey great video! Just got a quick question, can you set it up where your 2nd monitor is zoomed out but you can work on the tablet zoomed in? So basically the 2nd monitor doesn't mirror everything you are doing on the tablet. Thanks again!
Hm. I'm not entirely sure how that would work... I guess you could set up your second monitor to have the photoshop preview window at full screen, and just draw zoomed in on this screen using photoshop. But If the software doesn't have a second window that you can set to fullscreen, what you're suggesting wont work.
Remember, don't draw and drive!
Why?

I got this for my 11 year old for Christmas. We live in Atlanta and a lot of our friends have gone to SCAD university im hoping this will be a good entry level drawing pad to help her get the industry standard at a young age. Is this correct to think? Thank you in advance for your comments.
Konoserous Does she like it?
@@ayaneagano6059 its 50/50 she seems to be starting projects on an android tablet, but then brings it into Photoshop, on her computer with this drawing pad to finish it. So yes she likes having professional equipment to really make it how she wants. but the ease of starting ideas with a portable tablet seems to be where it all begins. hope this helps
@@ayaneagano6059 both seem equally important.
Trent, where has the video gone where you colour this guy?
It’s in my 2019 box set of tutorials
amazing artwork!
They just released the xp Pen 12 pro and it was 175$.... I had to buy it. Thanks for the review!
I also have been curse with gigantic hands and i just bought this pad a week ago. I would guess that the screen size doesn't matter much, considering you can zoom in and out for the small details
Beautiful, but why two right arms? The paw is right.
This one seems cheaper and apparently is better quality lol
Thoughts?
Man. that's a difficult question.
Thanks@@TrentKaniuga
with my xpen 12 artist i have a problem when i use photoshop cs6. i can't draw when i press ctrl+alt+Z for remove anything, i mean, before i can, but after that i only can draw straight lines. not any curve or anything... and i checked the drivers. are everything correctly instaled and updated :/ i missed something with photoshop cs6?
Were you ever able to fix this? I'm having the same issue. I got mine yesterday
Sweet review!
Thanks this was very helpful!
I’m glad I saw this video I’m using a Wacom tablet (no screen) from work at home and I prefer to draw on screen c it’s more familiar and I deff. Didn’t want to spend on Wacom or intuos and most certainly NOT but an IPad. I will deff. Consider getting this.
Very good review.
I wonder how close it is in capabilities, aside from color it would be to the new Cintiq? I'm leaning towards an XP over huion now
Yeah but now there pretty much tied
Love that fox - seeing develop on the screen in amazing. So talented, all I do is clip stuff .. ZZzzzz... Boring!! I need to start drawing again
The cursor seems consistent now but not sure if that's a legit changer
nao_ I don’t have one but pretty sure on windows there’s left handles setting
Great video, is the xp pen 12 drawing tablet compatible with Corel Paint Shop pro program?
I recommend the artist 22e pro
Thats the model I have... and its the best purchase Ive made for my home studio...
I use wacom intous draw already 2 years old now. Do i need to get new one?
Omg I fall in love of the brushes that u use can u upload them or just the one u use to blind pls
Moral of the story, if you are good, you can draw cool shot on a smartphone -)
I wonder if the cord would be in the way for a left handed user. It doesn't look like the cord is reversible.
hi, no you can rotate the tablet itself so that the wire would be on your right side, you just need to change the tablet settings😊
I just bought this what is a good program to use with this.. ty for the video👍
Hi, I’m about to buy xp pen deco pro, but I might buy this one too. I have an 30” 4K monitor connected to a laptop, so what do you say, should I give 70$ more and buy this one ?
I want to get this for my children 13yr old. Can she not use it at all unless it's hooked up to a computer?
no you have to have a computer or laptop but it does not have to be powerful
You CAN set it to mirror displays however, and it will have the exact same content at a larger size if your second monitor is a big screen.
@@TrentKaniuga Thanks for the quick reply! I am seriously considering the 22 inch version, which I hear is also great for the price!
How about the new surface pro? review plz.
Ongg I literally just got one today! I'll be getting A PC for it on Christmas! ^0^
u said u dont use digital tablets with a screen so which ones you use...i wanna do comic art in sketchbook🤷🏾♂️
