You say that you know for a 100% fact there won't be a chemical leak or something around you. It doesn't have to be specifically someone assaulting you with tear gas. I live near chemicals plants and leaks are common and they're always calling shelters in place because the air gets so dirty, so a gasmask would be amazing. Not have to worry about breathing in all the nasty next time there's a leak

As someone who has been teargas'd multiple times, yes, the mask protects your eyes and throat and some of the face. But everything else burns horribly. Tear gas is terrible.
