Diagnosing a “no spark” issue on your Honda 12v clone engine.

- Do you have a Honda clone engine or bike and it has a “no spark” issue? I like to use this simple harness and electrical components to bypass the main harness and installed parts. If you get spark after installing this kit, then you can start swapping components from the kit to the main harness. If you swap the CDI, coil, spark plug and still no spark, the issue is most likely within your main wiring harness.

Another awesome video Mike ! You help so many people! You have helped me over the years . Thank you for that my friend
Thanks Steve.
Thanks Mike, you know you’ve helped me through a lot of electrical issues. 😎
….and happy to have helped you!
Good video. I like the idea of making reference videos.
Yeah, I tend to just film rebuild videos and then someone asks about a certain process and I have to try and remember what video that it was in and where in the video.
🛑🛑 Great Help Video, Mike. 💯
Thank You so much, explaining everything clearly. 👍💯
Thanks.
Good information mike, mike the engine you showed, will it mount on the CT 70 just as the Lifan you have installed on your CT70"s.?Thanks
Yes, all the clone engines have the same mounting pattern.
exact kit i bought and used for my TB harness. i only used the coil and kill button.
👍🏻
I have a Baja 90 atv trying to get spark. I have run through the standard ohm test and AC output. Everything seems in spec except the trigger output. I am getting .125v AC and the spec is 2-4v. So I changed the stator assembly and got the same output voltage. By the time it gets to the coil on the yellow black I'm down to .0125. Two different stator/trigger coils same results? Can the flywheel magnet be bad? I'm stumped.
@@ericearhart Sounds like you’re sharper than me. I wouldn’t even know how to ohm or check voltage output.
If this is a basic 12v engine, that uses three wires to run (blue/white, black/red and green), then I use the $17 electrical kit on Amazon. It includes a simple “run only” wiring harness, CDI and coil. If you use those parts and plug into your stator and get spark, then you know some component on the machine is bad…..wiring, coil, CDI. If you don’t get spark with electrical kit plugged in, you know your issue is in the stator/flywheel.
Good job brother.
Thanks!
I get spark some times 🤦♂️
Hi sir, why these single phase stators are grounded on one side, and the three phase are not, thanks
thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching.
I have my skyteam dax causing problems, died while riding along, no spark, lights and dash work, turns over, swapped cdi and coil and still no spark, my buddy wanted to test the voltage from the pulser coil which should be very low voltage, any other suggestions? Not ignition key or housing, no kill switch fitted either so i guess wiring but open to other things to look at.
@@Thegeordiemonkey Do you have one of the simple “run only” harnesses? If not, they’re less than $20 on Amazon and come with CDI, coil and new spark plug. They are very handy in narrowing down where your issue is located. Unplug the engine from the bikes harness and plug in the run only harness. I use the supplied CDI and coil, so I don’t have to unplug the pieces on the bike. If you get spark with the run only harness, you know the stator is good and your issue is on the bike. If no spark, the issue is in the stator plate.
Hi Mike! Just wondering if I could use this harness and cdi module for a Lifan 250cc
🤷🏻♂️ Beats me, I’ve never owned a Lifan 250.
Where can you buy the engine stand? Thanks!!

Hi Mike , Whats the biggest motor i can put in a 75 CB 125? thanks
🤷🏻♂️ Beats me, I’ve never owned a vertical engine bike.
What is the other plug for?
If you’re referring to the other wiring and plug on the engine, that’s the gear indicator wires.
👍👍😎
