Could you do more video on this exact engine? i am having a hard time finding videos on these 4 strokes. I am having issues with going full throttle from idle (pulling a skier) my engine bogs down and stalls out. The ODD time is works perfectly.
Did you figure out the issue? Mine does the same thing. These are called Yamaha mercs because they were made by Yamaha for a few years, hard to find merc parts for it now but Yamaha still makes them
Not yet. I bought carb kits but haven't had the chance to rebuild them yet. Might be a fuel issue too but my marine mechanical skills are limited for now.
thank you for posting this, you make it very easy to understand. one question I do have for you, should I run the engine a bit before I change the oil. or can I do it if the boat has been out of the water for a couple of weeks and not used?
Hey man thank you for the demo. I was wondering can you do the oil change through the dipstick? My houseboat is in the water, so I need to do it while in the water.
I’m a new boat operator but have an older 115. So I followed the manual and it says to do what you do and raise the leg to drain the oil. I drained all oil out then I lowered the leg down and too my surprise out came a whole bunch of sludge as well. What’s happening?
Thanks for your informative video I have currently upgraded to a 2013 150 4 stroke while doing an oil change I accidentally poured a Tic Tac sized piece of the soil from the oil jug into my motor should I be concerned about that? Thanks in advance
Hi! Is there an engine oil for Mercury 175HP 2stroke direct injection? Can you tell me where is the oil drain plug or procedure to changed oil this old engine. Thanks
Great video only thing is, you do NOT want to be RIGHT at the top of that oil line, as thats the operating MAX, and once heated oil expands...best to be a quarter inch below that...worse thing you can do for a motor is overfill it with oil.
Thank you sir you went right to the point not wasting any time like a lot of these guys do on UA-cam

Great Video, one question, should you have had the engine level when you checked the oil?
So much easier then I thought

Is the oil change procedure the same for a 2008 115hp 1B5 series motor
how do you check the hours on the 90 EFI engine
Nicely done.
You dont get all oil out in that motor position
