this video is dope as hell. in the past you have commented on being a little nervous about just posting videos that highlight you just goofing around and enjoying the hobby, but honestly they consistently have been some of the best videos you have made. This was wonderful.
The "im an adult" statement was so like Scott's Mom: hey honey, do you want chicken tendies for dinner? Scott: mooooom, I'm an adult, okay?! Can Jon come over for tendies too? As a 34 old, i can relate 😂
Yes! My friends and I haven’t thought about this as a “LAN party” but we DO however have “BasementCon” that we are on our third year! It started during the pandemic when we didn’t feel comfortable going to “real” conventions because of them being super-spreader events, and we have just continued it as a tradition! In fact, it’s happening this coming weekend and I’m really starting to get excited about it! We have everything from people running mini MtG events to old school RPGs from our childhoods to modern skirmish and massive war games. Thanks for sharing, Scott! Let’s share ideas sometime!
@@Miniac Please do! The beautiful thing about it is that you already know (most) of the people, and if you do sign-ups of any kind ahead of time you can gauge excitement about events and tailor them to tastes as well! For example, if you do an AoS event you could tap one of your friends to do a special narrative for it and you know that everyone will appreciate it because you know what they like and don’t like about games. It’s a nice touch that has extra return on investment of time, if you will, beyond random folks you would meet at a “real” convention.
Gotta second this idea, same thing happened on my end. We rent out mansion somewhere for a few days and just buckle down for all sorts of games/RPG and food. Its a great time and often the only time out of the year many of us get to see each other due to being scattered across the country. We're starting to prep for our fourth year and we're almost up to 20 attendees so things are looking good. It certainly feels like those old skool LAN parties from back in the day and I can't recommend it enough!
Thank you for the shout-out mate! We've been busy building a big Endor board but will have lots more Shatterpoint coming over the Summer! ❤️ Love you bringing back the LAN vibes!
"I'm 32. I'm basically dead." Rings way too true when you're about to turn 39 and spent the weekend at a convention while not getting to bed until after 2 AM multiple days in a row.
When time and scheduling permits we do these when we can. We also occasionally all pitch in and get catered food or get food to cook after or in between rounds. Super fun video and you should definitely do more!
I love the new direction your channel seems to be taking. It's more able making videos that make you happy and that makes me happy. It's great to see you having so much fun with all your friends and feel like I'm apart of it.
This was really fun to watch! Other Dan repping Gen X and remembering the amazing experience of seeing the original trilogy in the theater. I hadn’t thought about that in ages but he was right, it led to a lot of us wanting to build models for ILM.
This is fantastic, looks so much fun. The flashback of opening that Ewok Village toy when I was young... great terrain too ❤. I am 50 this year and almost an adult, although I was a very middle aged teenager, sooo.
I think everyone watching this video sees that you guys were having fun. And that’s pretty much what life is about, have fun. Keep on surfing the flow you’re on Scott!
10/10 production and concept! These are the videos that keep showing the great balance you make between the hobby and the creative video idea's you have. Keep on going Scott!
Really nailed this video. I spent 8 years building / painting 15 Warhammer armies with the goal of making epic days like that happen more often. By the time I was done, everyone was busy with family life and work etc and the days didn't happen anyone near as often as we'd like.. but when it does happen, it's magic.
Hi Scott, It's not quite the same, but I recently played in a beginner/casual tournament for Song of Ice and Fire, and even though we were 20 players, it basically had the same extremely friendly and fun vibe as in your video. The orga gave out some nice achievements like "What is dead may never die" for the first guy to get tabled. It was absolutely energetic when my opponent realized he had no chance of winning and sent all of his troops into a brutal melee to get murdered and "win" this achievement. It was a really nice experience for both of us, even though he got tabled 😀
Solo was a solid heist flick in the Star Wars universe. I really don't understand the hate it gets. Especially considering they had so many production issues with the change of directors and need to reshoot with the big bad's actor... Great video, I'd love to see more like it! Keep having fun with your channel!
Dude awesome video, amazing editing and storytelling! I really expected Jon to wander in right in the last 5 seconds, box of tendies under his arm, and then swear about missing everything 😂
I just hosted a Shatterpoint tournament yesterday and I absolutely identify with Scott both being the organizer and the most experienced player. Everyone loves to give me shit about hosting events just for me to win it.
Amazing Scott! That was incredible... Loved the video... Gosh! I miss lanparties so much... Once we drove all the way across town to a house of a friend's friend (I didn't know until then) to spend the night playing DOTA 1... We were split into several rooms because there wasn't enough room for all of us in the living room... There was a newbie playing in one of the bedrooms and we spent the night screaming instructions for him... What a night ❤
Every shatterpoint release has the game getting better and better. The new rebel stuff is honestly amazing. Hope you can grow your own little community up there.
Nice one. My wee group and I held GarageCon this year for my birthday. 3 round Warhammer ToW casual 500pt Tournament in, well, my garage. It was good fun. Most I could host without having to also use the kitchen though as I've only got an 8x4 In the garage (though that worked perfectly well split down into two 4x4 tables).
That was a lot of fun to watch - kudos on showing more about the interactions and reactions than game play. Watching someone roll a dice gets old - but hearing the trash talking and ribbing made the enjoyment really come through.
Awesome video with some really cool people. It definitely gave me that twinge of nostalgia for my LAN party days. My friends and I do this kind of thing usually once or twice a year and I always look forward to the next one so much.
Seven of my friends and I hired space at a FLGS to do a one day Frostgrave tournament. Loads of fun, we all had a blast. It takes effort and organisation but well worth it. Love this kind of content, great to see people getting together for some friendly gaming.
"Bro I'm 32... I'm basically dead." I'm only 25 and I felt this on a level I probably shouldn't have yet. Love the content as always and can't wait to see what sort of shenanigans y'all get up to!
You've asked if we do something similar. Well... every Wednesday we meet at my friends house to play RPG, BUT... we meet in the basement, where the chimney and a collection of weapon on the walls are AND we play on the pool table (we keep our beers in pockets). The green field is great to place some trees and minis on it. It does not give the LAN party vibe, but it's the touch of 90's for us (especially that the furniture and stereo are old ones, just stacked in the basement, and we use it every time).
Love these very ... i don't even know what to call it? Wholesome content? Seeing YOU and how EXCITED you are about things that intrest you. Loving the gaming / friend content! Like you SOIF games.
I've got a mini-tournament with 3 other friends lined up for Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game. Same format as yourself - 3 games in a day. Why the heck not?!
Pretty sure my life peaked the last day of junior year when we pulled of a 16 player halo 3 lan party. 8v8 ctf on Valhalla was the best ever. Kids these days will never know how good us old guys had it.
For Christmas pist-pandemic, I bought all my friends starter boxes of ASOIAF and ran an intro tournament that day. There's nothing more rewarding that getting a low stress league or game day up and running where fun is prioritized over winning.
Really Awesome video! I'm loving the idea and I will copy that for the next time I will have the house on my own 😅 Really awesome ppl you had over for the games ❤
The title and thumbnail didnt do the video justice. I have no way to improve them, the video was great, it's good to see you having a good time with mates. I wanna gove something like this a go
I used to do a gaming weekend every year with my friends, stopped during COVID. They've kept the tradition going but I've yet to join up with them again.
Did floorhammer a few months ago with my friends (all.of us didn't join the hobby till recently so first time) and very recently we did beer hammer at a friend's house.....great games but floorhammer hurt my back for a week and beer hammers hangover lasted two days.......worth it 😅.
Same age as you but my friends and I were playing Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Pokemon. We didn't become PC gamers until our 20s. I've got Marvel Crisis Protocol all painted up and I'm hoping to try it out in person with someone soon!
Great idea! Great Video! Lan parties was great part of my youth too. and i really wanna try out smaller skirmish-like games like this. i could fit a few smaller tables.. definitely gonna try it out.
Great video!! This might just be the vid that convinces me to get into shatterpoint! I’m just really waiting for some sequels characters to come to the game too
Favourite SW movies, Star Wars 1977 followed closely by Ep 8, The Last Jedi. Both were incredibly life changing and meaningful to me at different points in my life.
Miniac I don't know if you wanna count this as a star wars movie but my all time favorite movie is Ewoks battle for endor! I whlatched that movie so many times. My mom and dad recorded off the TV on an old cassette. And me and my brother watched at least once or twice a year every year as kids.
I miss those lan party so much… Lol I have just recently gotten into Shatterpoint, and I’m very jealous of the fact you have friends who will come play… Lol I always find myself having more than enough pieces to support an entire game night like that, but no one to play with
A few weeks ago, my crew finished a one shot for my podcast of a Star Wars game called Light Side (PbtA, highly recommended). Until halfway through our recording sessions, I still hadn't seen the second two of the original movies, lol. I did fix that and quite enjoyed them.
1:32 is that Grevious's speeder? Is that terrain you can get or did someone find that toy and spice it up. Are Scott's imps red? That makes me want to do a Star Wars Legacy Imperial Knights themed force now lol
Great video, this made me wonder if you could make a feature film (akin to Superbad) about an insane LAN party, probably a terrible idea, but I’d watch it. Also, how did we stay up for 30 hours straight playing counter strike? What was wrong with us!?
The lightsaber company gave y'all a discount!
Discount code is "MINIAC" which gets you 5% off all light sabers!
This vid is fucking rad. So well done, be proud of this!
Thank you, brother!
will you two just kiss already?
I totally grooved on the Easter egg of the TUP set in the background… cool to have it in context 🫶
I would totally do this if I had friends.
gotta listen to less black metal

It's those creepy horror videos you've been dropping
