    I would love to hear what you think of the two images?

    I had rather be in the rain than sun when photographing waterfalls. Nothing beats a great overcast day when out for waterfall shots. The second image is great proof of how lovely an overcast day can be.
    Thanks for sharing.

    It was certainly worth the effort, Simon! The final image is just beautiful with lovely green foliage and silky, smooth waterfalls. Outstanding! The original image was nice, but as you said, the overcast sky takes away all that contrast from the sun and evens out the light. It also helps to have the trees leafed out. Many thanks for this lovely video.

    The second image is much more serene, thanks for sharing. The light n in the first shot makes a very dappled image and doesnt look as good.

    Love the final image, the rich green foliage really brings it together for me. Lovely shot.

      It really made a difference, especially in post processing. The first was so difficult to bring the best out of it, whereas the second took just a few seconds to prep!

    Brilliant video, jam packed full of tips and information, thank you. I love dippers, possibly me second favourite birds after gannets, I could watch both all day. Is Lathkill as accessible as it looks? It looks a nature photographer's paradise.

      It certainly is Mark. It's a bit of a steep road from the car park to the river, about 200yds but well worth it! All I would say is that if you like solitude, go either very early as I did, or go during the week. It's very popular with walking groups!

      Simon Booth Thanks Simon, I think it's Bempton Cliffs next weekend but I'll put it in the diary for the week after.

    Again some nice waterfall shots here Simon.With no hesitation, I am loving the second one with the overcast weather, much more details in the shadow and overall more homogeneous lightning with a popping green as we love it right ^^.
    Cheers

    8 hours well spent I'd say Simon. Congratulations, I think you've ended up with a very elegant image that captures the scene beautifully 👍😊

    Beautiful place, Lathkill Dale. I've been a few times photographing dippers, butterflies and that waterfall. The water is so clear that it almost looks like the trout in the river are flying, surreal!
    That second image is gorgeous.

    A lovely final image Simon. This looks like a spot worth returning to again & again... Nice that you show an appreciation for the local ecology as well...
    Would love to see those falls shot perhaps at 1/2 sec. give or take, primarily to capture the shapes, however this is your shot & it is captured beautifully Simon, very well done sir...

      Lathkildale and the Peak District generally is very beautiful and I don't go enough!. Soft water is not for everyone. I like it because it helps to control contrast, but I can appreciate that this is not how water looks in reality!!

    Hi Simon. What a great video again you have made. Thank you so much for that. Could you tell me how do you close the viewfinder off from light when doing a long exposure. I dont think my 5dmk3 has one?

    • @SimonBoothPhotography
      @SimonBoothPhotography  7 років тому

      Peter B thank you. My camera has a blind that I can flick over. You can either use the camera strap, which normally has an attachment, or simply cover the eyepiece with your hand. A tight seal isn’t critical!

    are there any paths for all terrain wheelchairs?

    • @SimonBoothPhotography
      @SimonBoothPhotography  Рік тому

      The path is very good from memory but you could contact the Peak District National Park Authority for confirmation. It’s a couple of years since I was there.

    Great photograph in the end. This is somewhere I've been meaning to go and find. Can you tell me where you go to park? and then is the waterfall easy to find from that point on?

    • @SimonBoothPhotography
      @SimonBoothPhotography  7 років тому

      stevethetrixter there's a car park in Over Haddon at the top of the hill to the dale and a couple of disabled spaces at the bottom. At the bottom of the dale we're you meet the river, walk up stream for about a mile to the fall.
