Thank you. Online research has indicated that it might take as long as 10 to 12 weeks to fully recover from muscle contusions. I guess it's just as well, as the rainy season and snow is on the way. I'll be ready for next spring.
Im so glad you weren't more seriously hurt as we get dont heal as fast as we once did. About twenty years ago a buddy and myself were riding the bike path along lake shore drive in Chicago on ten speeds and I briefly turned my head to see where he was at, mind you we were traveling pretty fast and my tire hit the edge of the pavement between the raised pavement and the grass and I lost control and fell sideways onto the grass and as I was lying there he was so close he couldn't stop and he rode right over me and fell also. Needless to say, the soft grass saved us both from serious injury, only my pride was hurt. We did have to walk the bikes back home, laughing at each other. Needless to say, now I ride always aware of the pavement edge.
Man, I wish I had had some grass to fall onto. I finally went to the doctor two days ago, because the swelling is not going down. Still can't bend the knee. After examining me, he ascertained that I might have actually torn quadricep muscles from their anchor point on the knee cap. I have a big ball of tight constricted muscle in the upper right thigh and I can now definite feel some pain in the knee. Good grief! Might need surgery; waiting to see. Thanks for commenting. Yes, I guess caution is needed whenever one is out riding.
Glad you weren't hurt worse. Looks like the bike came through it amazingly well. I've had a couple of minor accidents so I've been pretty fortunate so far. Just scrapes and bruises. Praying you have a speedy recovery.
Glad to hear you are OK brother and the concussion wasn't too bad, I've had one that put me in bed for over a week, and didnt feel the same for years. Good news is those shifters are 15$ on amazon. I use an old IPhone X for ebiking purposes and ive got the shattered screen protector as well, par for the course. Nice work spray painting the rack, I agree, couple blasts of paint to fix that, no need to buy a new one unless welds are breaking or something. Ebike racks are notoriously crappy aluminum, usually. The edge of sidewalks and pavement seems like a very common way that people fall down, i treat them like a curb!! Get well soon brother good to hear you are OK
Sorry to hear about your accident Dave, hope you are recovering and thank you for sharing all the wealth of information on bike repair. Take care my friend.
Thank you for your kind words, Walt. I'm slowly getting better, but still in pain and using crutches to get around in the house. My doctor said he thinks I might have actually detached some thigh muscle from their anchor point near the knee cap. That explains the big hard mass of muscle contracted into a ball in the upper right thigh region. Good grief! I'll keep you guys posted.
Sorry to hear of your accident. Your initial review is what helped me decide to get a Daul star myself. I went with a 19 inch model, but I now realize that the 17 inch frame would have been a better fit for my size. I too, took a nasty fall on my first ebike. My front wheel lost traction on some sand, and i went over the handle bars, face planting on the pavement. Broken nose and chipped front teeth among many contusions. The bike wasn't rideable, so I had to walk about 3 miles to get home. Im lucky it wasnt worse because back then, I didn't wear a helmet! I also had a minor accident with the Daul star. I lost balance, lifting my leg over the seat to get on when the bike fell over on me bruising my thigh and butt cheek. Be careful, this is a big heavy bike and it can be a little hard to handle in certain situations. Anyway, I hope you recover quickly and stay safe on the road. Thanks for all your videos.
Thanks for the update David. Like I said I fell off mine a few days ago, luckily in soft sand. Still got a couple of decent bruises on my legs. After seeing your incident and experiencing my own, I’m riding way more carefully now. Glad to see you’re on the mend
Yikes! Glad you did not get as banged up as I did. In general, people really need to exercise caution with these powerful e-bikes. They are big fun, but they are not at all like the bikes we used to ride when we were kids. Once my bike is put back together, I think I will lower the seat about one half inch, that will help me maintain my balance. I am on the mend; I can actually bend my right knee now, so that is a good sign. Thanks for chiming in; your comment is appreciated.
Daaaave. Sorry to see you got hurt but thanks for making this video. Thank goodness you had the helmet on. I bought a full-face Smith when I ride mine now. These bikes deserve alot of respect....they're VERY big, heavy, and Fast. A mod that I'm looking at right now is a dropper post. It allows proper seat height for powerful pedaling. But, it also allows lower center of gravity in technical paths AND makes it MUCH easier to get on/off the bike and stop the bike without having to pop off the seat. No more tip-toes at a stop. Reduces the argument of needing a smaller bike or getting a step-thru design frame. Just saw a video where a guy installs this in his Dual-Star. 'PNW Cascade Dropper Post Review - My Favorite Ebike Mod!' Awesomely Rad. Check it out when you can....I'll probably be installing one on my Dual-Star. Cheers Brotha! I just got mine 2 weeks ago and hope to put out some content soon.......Amazing Bike! 978 views 3 weeks ago
Thanks for the great information.I will definitely check out video about the dropper post. It's adjustable on the fly, I take it? Yeah, glad I decided o ride with my helmet that day. Other times in the past I did not wear it. Will always for now on. Thanks for chiming in. Take care - be safe.
That is a really good question. So far Ecells is only a retail operation, and they have no satellite stores or any way to provide parts for customers. I had to order a replacement derailer and a shifter directly from China. I don't know where you would buy a replacement rim, especially a gold one like the one on my bike. I'd like to know the actual name of the company who manufactures the bike in China; maybe they can provide some information on parts. As customers we really need that.
First off I am very glad that you are ok, the bike parts can be replaced if broken but people not. Second, if you do not mind me asking, how did you crash.
Not sure of all of the mechanics of the crash; it happened real fast. Too bad there is no video of the crash; it must have been spectacular! Simply put, I lost balance after my front wheel got locked into a very rough patch along the right edge of the bike trail. I was trying to remain to the far right of the bike lane when my front tire dropped off of the pavement. I think I must have applied the brakes in an instinctual effort to stay upright. My front wheel tweaked and I went down hard, with my right elbow and the back of my head striking the ground. I think I was going about 15 mph. After I got up from the ground, I noticed my front tire was about 15 to 20° out of alignment with a handlebars. I had to pin the front wheel between my legs and torque the handlebar straight, then I recovered my phone from the roadway and all the other broken parts of the bike. What was amazing is that a truck was passing me at the exact moment I was going down; I cannot believe he did not stop, unless he just did not see me. Except for the few scratches, I showed in the video. The bike itself survived remarkably unscathed. It's a real testament to the build quality of the Ecells Dual Star. Right leg is still painful and unbendable, but I am getting better.
@@daveyJ213 Usually, crashes happen they happen fast, if a crash is slow we could counter-react to it. Knock on wood, I have not had an e-bike crash yet, but I did have a speed bike the pedal bike with the skinny tires the ones where you lock your shoes into the pedals. Well, I was attempting to do the 35 miles again but beat my record. That did not go as planned because 6 miles into the ride I went to lean the bike around the corner and my front tire must of hit a small stone and if kicked my front tire from underneath me. I was going about 18 miles an hour. By the time I stopped sliding my feet were still clipped into the pedals. My knee was badly scuffed up, and my shoulder was scraped up. The most important thing that I have learned that day is always wear a helmet, anytime you get on a bike of any kind. The reason why I am saying that is because my helmet was cracked badly, that could have been my skull and I would not be here messaging you right now. Sounds like you took a scary fall, but the most important thing is you are ok, the bike can always be replaced but you or I cannot. Maybe the driver of that truck did not see you fall. So I know the pain you are going through now, you will heal and will be back riding the bike again. Remember if you fall off the horse get back on it. I mean when you are better. Glad it all worked out.
It’s too bad about the bike and you but it’s also important to tell people how it happened. I have the wired version and I have made mistakes that I have learned from. What happened?
I nearly got in an accident a week ago. I came up on my street pretty quick and a car was coming out of my street which is narrow so I turned left to go straight instead of turn and I did a power slide on my Wallke H9 AWD. Somehow I managed to keep it up and get a thumbs up from the driver.
I’m glad you’re reasonably ok. I’d like to suggest that you tilt your ergonomic grips to level. With them sloped down like that, you’ll strain your wrists. Ask me how I know. 😂
I remember reading some discussion about that. I think they are, but I am not positively certain. You should post that question on the Ecells Facebook group. I bet someone there would know.

Just checked out the PNW information. I think this is a no-brainer when dealing with the power and size of the Ecells Dual Star. Thanks again.

Where would we buy a rim? E cells has no parts for sale?

Are the e-Cells rims tubeless compatible?

@@daveyJ213 Okay but I don't have Facebook.
Also regarding the rim maybe you have to get a black one later.maybe do a Google pic search
It might be useful to know where you could get a rim if you did completely destroy one of your rims.
