Great video, David! I have the same issue with the vertical bar (even after inserting the plastic wedges), being a bit loose. Granted, I won't be off-roading any time soon, but some of the freeways are really bad, and I wouldn't want it snapping off either. 🤔

Excellent video. Thank you for making it. I just purchased the mate r (2 bike) version. Waiting for it to be shipped. Maybe someday we can take a ride together!

Oh, hey, Dave. Didn't recognize you off the forum. Are you feeling better? I just got my rack

Hey! Yes, leg is starting to loosen up, I can bend it a bit more now. Still generally in a lot of pain, but way better than I was. Online research has indicated that it may take as long as 13 weeks to heal from the type of injuries I sustained. Just as well, the rainy season and snow is on the way; I'll be ready for this coming spring.

After you fold down your moving bar just use your wheel straps around it and pull stream

Would like to see how you put on the two plastic fittings on the upright. I couldn't get them to stay so I ended up putting some glue on them so they wouldn't fall off.

Sorry I did not show that step. After I removed the vertical support I discovered there were two slightly recessed areas on main body that were shaped just like that plastic pieces. They sort of "held" in place as I reinserted the pieces. I inserted the bolt in just far enough to hold the piece in place, then inserted the support, then the last plastic pieces. No glue was necessary.

I’m having trouble putting those two plastic fittings in. Doesn’t seem like they fit. Or stay. They do go inside. Right

@@kskogman125 Yeah, I'm sorry I screwed up that parts of the presentation. I know what you mean. Notice the shape of the plastic pieces, that one end is squared off and the other end is a semi-circle. There are matching depressions pressed into the metal on either side of the structure where these plastic pieces go. Problem is that are not deep and there is no way to hold them in place. Try doubling over some painters tape to hold them in place on either side of the vertical post. I got mine attached by sliding through just enough bolt for the plastic piece to hang onto, then inserted the vertical post. Still I'm shy about torquing the bolt until "the metal does not move" as stated in the instructions. Hope this helps.

Looking at getting this bike rack as well, the dual version. Who needs instructions when we have your video. Thank you.

Very funny! I think the two-bike model is better in that it is foldable. Otherwise, pretty much the same.

I have the same rack and I’m having the same problem with getting the support rod screwed in tight enough so there’s some resistance and it doesn’t just fall down on its own. Mine came with the same washers, which I used and like you it didn’t help. I really think this is a design defect because there’s another video of maybe an earlier model or batch where the guy tightened it up without the washers and there’s resistance. It doesn’t just fall down. Frustrating!

Thanks for this information. My truck is in the shop for repair. When I get it back I'm going to attach the rack and use my big torque wrench to see if I can get it tightened a bit more. I am fearful of stripping the nut and bolt. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to use two huge metal split-ring lock washers that would bite into the sides of the vertical member or the hitch itself. Don't know if that would work. I know there is some kind of serrated washers that might work to accomplish the same thing. I'll see if I can locate one big enough.
