I’m on vacation but I couldn’t help myself. I brought the GoPro and I’m VERY glad I did. YEEEHAW!
BasqueMTB High Pyrenees: www.basquemtb....
Anytime Brian goes overseas it's like a new episode of my favorite TV show. Gotta put it on the big screen, grab some popcorn and enjoy.
Fantastico!
Yes it's awesome!
I remember when he went to Israel, and I just had to watch it right away..
And same for Europe..
Yeah Bri , amazing trip dude , we’re all coming along with you from the day you had the Santa Cruz Bronson 😂!! We’re still here dude 👍🏾😊👌🏽🤗 “ See you on the trail “
👏🏻👏🏻💯💯🎉🍿
The terrain in Spain is friggin insane,
I wanna watch more cause it's good for my brain,
but I guess next vid the trails will get slain,
and I will get sucked down the Mtb drain,
Theres nothing like this to unlock the chain,
unless you rewind and watch it again
Seriously one of the greatest adventures a mountain biker can have! What a trip!
We went into battle and came out the other side in one piece kinda sorta!
Unless you have explored all continental USA with your mtb don’t bother going on 2 week mtb adventure to europe. You will need a lifetime to really see it all. My advice to a regular joe is to move to europe with your mtb instead of going for a few weeks. I’m talking to normies not Bryant or other high value youtubers. They can afford a 2 week mtb vacation to New Zealand or Peru on a bat lash

Living in 🇪🇸
It's absolutelys insane to see how confident you have become over the years. You are firing down those mountains as if it was a space shuttle landing. Big respect! Been following you since your very first trip to New Zealand. I can't wait to get out there and shred this myself :)
Haha I have made progress little by little!!
Killer video. You were clearly comfortable on the HD6, that chunky downhill sections was probably the fastest I’ve seen you tackle something like that in these videos.
Most definitely! I love more travel!
@@bkxcwould love to hear your thoughts on the HD6! Vid incoming??
Shredding Brian 🤘🏼 And keeping up the conversation the whole time. Great to see you again.
Thanks Doug, it was another unforgettable adventure!!
Had the Magura MT7 setup, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not fall in love with them. So I went back to my Shimano XTR levers and calipers, and what a difference! Love my Shimano XTR's!
Yeah, I feel ya! I shouldn’t even mess around and just get back to the brakes I’ve always loved.
@@bkxc The XT's have saved my ass a fair few times. I've tried the Srams and like you i don't like how the don't really bite at all, they're made that way and i don't like them as i would like to have full control over how hard i brake.
I love my MT7’s.
@@NoOne56488I know it's personal preference, but it's funny cause I find it to be the exact opposite. I feel like I have *more* control over my RSCs cause of the modulation. Shimano it's pretty much brake or no brake, and I've found that bite to be unpredictable (XT, never tried XTR or Saints).
incredible. I did the BasqueMTB coast trip this summer, thanks to your previous videos. Had an amazing time. Doug, Antonio and Zumi were awesome guides, the whole thing was perfect, there is no other way to describe it.. anyone considering this should absolutely DO IT. I will advise up your skill level for wet roots. a new experience for me from the desert South West. 🤘
Fantastic! Love to hear you had a blast
Love Sarah. She's a stud to hike a bike and carry her bike on those hillsides. Love it when she is on your trips.
I've been using Shimano Saint brakes for years. Absolutely love them.
Your videos are awesome Brian. So real, like just hanging with a buddy. Keep up the great work
Thanks so much! I always love me some Shimano brakes
The fact that you got me into mountain biking, because of your videos, when I freshly moved to Michigan and not sure that you have noticed on your video when you were editing, but you can hear your heart beat off your GoPro as you’re walking your bike up the mountain! 🤘🏾
That's great to hear!!!
I'd recommend Hayes Dominion A4 brakes. All the power and immediate solid feel of Shimano, with none of the fuss or silly wandering bite point stuff.
Nice! Love to hear it
@@bkxc That's another big recommend from me too. And I do all my riding in the Basque country. I've had XT, Saints and Hope. The Hayes are by far the best.
Love the video; Spain is on the dream list for sure. Honestly, the Hayes Dominion A4's have been the best brakes I've ever used. Super light lever, great bite and modulation, and totally bombproof
Fantastic, I've heard a ton of people now say they love the Hayes!
Can't beat xt 4 pots!!! The magura mt7 brakes are also very nice.
Amen to that!
I've done that trip too. Walked that mountain with my bike. Amazing. Love coming back to trips with BasqueMTB.
Yep, it is just an amazing experience!
I love all your videos took a little time off because some of the places you go and ride are untouchable for a lot of us . Super stoked for you and your ability to get there . Sincerely .
Thanks dude!
Will we get a bike check vid for the new HD6?
Nope! Just go to the ibis website and look for the most expensive one!
@@bkxc 🤣
Shigura! XT levers with MT7 Pro calipers 👌
Nice!
Greetings from Spain Brian, good guidance with Basque MTB, they have taken you through the best...although there were some stones jjjjjjjj
Hahah yep, plenty of tough stones!
That is an amazing ride, can't wait to get back again. Thanks for sharing the beautiful video.
For some reason, every trip you take brings me back to the channel and makes me wanna ride so much!
That's great to hear!!
Used to watch your videos all the time, subbed to your patreon too, but i slowly fell out of the mountain biking scene. Getting back into it and you're the first creator i come back to. Glad you're continuing to be successful in this as youre one of the most genuine mtb creators out there.
Welcome back!! Hope to get you stoked!
regarding the brakes, I dont have SRAM Codes, but a friend of mine uses them with Galfer brake pads and he is getting a lot more stopping power than before. I can personally recommend Magura MT7/MT5s also with Galfer pads, plenty of stopping power and modulation and lots of different brake levers so you can find your personal fit. A friend of mine who rides TRPs tested my setup (MT7s, Galfer pads, the 2 finger style levers (the brakes are a bit old, currently on their 3rd bike)) and said my brakes have more power and modulation, but the TRPs have a better lever feel. I also tested the HC3 levers on someones bike and they definitely change the lever feel to a more robust and precise sensation.
Nice!! Great info
Needless to say, many are envious of your adventures and lifestyle. Definitely living the dream.
Trying my best!!
I just got the Trickstuff Piccola 2 piston and they are amazing. I had the Margura MT8 Raceline and while they are great they are very finicky. The modulation on the Piccola is perfect and the stopping power is crazy. I’m running their Power pads with Gafler wave rotor
Oh wow, first I've heard of them! Good recommendation
I had the RSC Code brakes on my SC Nomad and switched to Magura M7's and it made a huge difference in stopping power. Great video!
Fantastic!
I love the Spain trips Brian. I’ve been to Spanish Pyrenees, but never ridden it. I’m 100% going to go back to ride it. It’s so beautiful!!!!
My husband has done the exact same High Pyrenees trip 3 times also - in fact the first time just a week after you. He still raves about it and particularly the little bar run by the 2 brothers at the end of this particular descent. He's aiming for a fourth trip in 2024!
Wow!! That is just so cool!
definitely go for TRP brakes if you like shimano XT. I've tried both Magura mt5 and TRP DHR evo on a demo bike, the TRP feels alot closer to XT imho.
Good stuff!
Qué grande Brian, cómo te gusta venirte para aquí, para ser el viaje de una vida ya has venido tres veces, al final te vamos a tener que empadronar. Un abrazo crack!
Gracias amigo!
Nice riding Brian! You may like TRP DH-R Evo brakes, really powerful but also great modulation.
Quite a few people have recommended them! I’ll have to give them a look
That is a gnarly looking trail with such beautiful scenery! Wow man thank you for sharing!
It’s a great one!!
I watched Calirado Kid's Spain mtb trip and knew that this was coming. Fantastic riding as always. 😊
That Calirado Kid. He sure is good looking! 😂
@@CaliradoKid You said it. If only I could have a cool mustache. XD
It’s the dream!
Brakes wise i’ve used hope, magura & TRP. Prefer hopes the most. Managed to get trickstuff brakes and loving them now haha
Nice!!
So amazing! Don't believe I have seen that side of Spain before. Have An amazing trip
Love these BKXC European rides! Btw SRAM Code RSCs are the best! But they can over heat at the rotor and result in brake fade over sustained rides...To overcome this, use MTX ceramic Gold pads and the power and sustained performance becomes a non-issue. Top modulation and power! TRP DH Evos are impressive too, but lever ergonomics are a little "off." God Speed!
Interesting! Had not heard of the fancy pads
@@bkxc I use the SRAM Guide Rs with Kevlar pads from superstar components to combat the heat build up. Also have switched to 2.2mm thick rotors which has two benefits. 1.The pistons don't throw so much, 2. Thicker rotors don't heat up so quickly and because of that stay cooler on long descents. But before these changes I would agree with you, too much modulation. Sometimes you just need POWER. The changes I have made gives me the best of both worlds
This year summer i started mountainbiking, because of your portal video popped up in my feed and every since im hooked to both biking and your channel
First im gonna exhaust all the local trails, then im going Austria and Czech Republic for sure!
That's a great plan!!~
Probably the best place for trail/enduro mtb even some weeks ago i was rewatching your basque mtb trip
Most definitely!
Damn, I am jealous all these awesome places your riding lately.
Hope you make it out to them some day!
I love my TRP slate 4 brakes. Has a great bite in my opinion. I'm no expert though but gets the job done.
If they feel good then that’s all that matters!
I always love the Spain videos, such a gorgeous area
Yep, so nice!!
Super epic! Keep having fun out there
I did the same exact thing to my cage. They are available at bike shops and run about $190 to replace
Finally got the replacement, but still need to put it on
Totally love Spain. Probably will never ride there, but what beautiful scenery... You live a wonderful life Brian. Great video. Enjoy sir...
Thanks my man!
back to Spain!!! I've loved every one of these videos over the years, Brian. Glad you got there before indoor 'season' riding really starts up. It would be great if we could Zwift these trails and rides.
That's great to hear!! Yeah, Zwifting this stuff would be magical
I did this trail last year on a basqueMTB trip and it was amazing!
Just too cool!
AMAZING! It's on my bucket list!
That was the highlight day for sure, that descent is insane! And the evening descent into bielsa was even gnarlier! Such a good trip, Doug and the crew really know how to do it right.
Oh and my SRAM brakes gave me hell the whole time too. 😂
Awesome!! (but not about the SRAM brakes)
Wow!! It goes on for miles and miles!
Big time!
I'm curious about Formula Cura brakes. They're 2-piston version but the pistons are bigger than in normal 2-piston Shimano brakes. I heard 2-piston Formula brakes have power of 4-piston Shimano brakes.
Interesting!
Maybe try the Hayes Dominion A4 brakeset, they are fabulous on downhill trails. How is the HD6 compared to the Ripmo? Is it as good pedalling? The Ripmo is so good uphill.
HD6 has been pretty dang good!!
The lake up there is called "Ibon de Plan" ("Lake Plan") and this descent to the village of Saravillo is in my to do list for long. Now I have this about 1.5h away from my new place in the Pyrenees. I will be able to ride this one next spring once the snow that is about to start falling goes away. As usual awesome ride and very good quality video and editing.
Nice!! I hope you go ride it next year!
I Use Shimano. I also use Hope brakes. You could try the Hope Tech4 E4 brakes with the floating rotor. They even to adaptors to mount SRAM shifters to the brake levers. They even have knobs to adjust the reach and bite point. I've only used SRAM/Avid brakes once. I was not impressed.
Oh wow I didn’t know you could swap the levers, interesting!
@BKXC awesome brian, when are you gonna come downunder again, thre trails are getting good here
Hey, if you are in Spain headed to France you may want to keep heading East and check out Italy to ride in Finale Ligure. That place is mountain bike central for Italy. I just got back from there and can’t say enough good things about it~
Yeah, I really need to go check it out!
The terrain is somewhat similar to Georgia republic! I wish you guys could come and ride there one day. It's a real undiscovered gem for MTB.
Oh wow, that sounds really cool!
I own an HD5 and a Ripmo. Do you think those bikes would work for this type of ride? I noticed you have an HD6. I've read that the HD6 is a great descender enduro ride. Thoughts?
Most definitely, my Ripmo handled lots of big stuff nicely. But I’ll take the bigger travel!
Its insane how brian's confident has become as days pass anothet great video i enjoyed it😃👍
Yeah! Little by little
Cool😊
WELLCOME BACK, BRIAN! you should come to visit Asturias, Picos de Europa.
Some day!!
Good ta see Sarah with you on this adventure...nice shreddin', Brian.
Thanks dude!!
Was there the week before you. It is so endless fantastic! Was my second time, but I’ll be back!!
You should try the Magura MT7. They are the best in my opinion. Used XT before but will never switch back.
Nice, third time is a charm!!
10:20 got to rock strikes in the same spot this summer,1 in Andorra and the other one in Loudenville. I almost cry the second time 🥲 hehehe. Very nice ride. Try some aftermarket pads, metallic SRAM stock one´s are not very good.Try some green Galfer´s front, purple e-bike rear. Try new rotors with new pads,I bet you would like them. If not,try Hope new brakes, they are very powerful & easy to work with. Shimano brakes are more time consuming, you need to be on top of them.
That’s interesting about the different pads, I’ll have to check that out.
The difference 2 weeks makes, we had snow and flooded rivers 3 weeks ago doing this. Unreal trail
That’s crazy!!
Hi Brian, this is not now in November, is it? I just moved to Spain, so I'm thinking of riding something new before the winter breaks...
Nope! Not now
Loving the TRP DH-R EVO brakes.
Nice! Hearing a lot of great things about TRP
Excellent video!!!! I am torn between this this trip or going to Finale ligure 🤨🤔
Nice!! I really want to get to Finale some day
Greetings everyone... I'm a viewer from Indonesia. happy riding
I loved my basqueMTB trip! Did it because of Brian! It is also actually really affordable!
That is too cool to hear!!
There’s nothing like Trickstuff Maxima brakes ❤ But I just mounted a set of Hayes Dominion A4 on a friends bike and they seem quite nice as well. But then again nothing beats German CNC art with environmentally friendly bio based oil. Power and control is the best I’ve ever tried and they give me so much confidence.
That’s some high praise, very nice!
Yeah but they really deserves to be praised. If you get the chance to try them you really should.
Try TRP DH Evo for the brake. You'll never think of other types of brake brand again, trust me.
Nice!!
Damn Ive done that hike a bike, and its insanely hard. The decent after though. Perhaps one of the best you can do. Period.
Sic bro! Can't wait to go to Spain/France
It's a fun one!
Try Hope brakes! I got them at the recommendation of some really good riders I ride with and love them! I have the E4.
Nice!!
Great video! You need to make a Pain in Spain shirt to go along with the old Pain/Pleasure one! Now that you have an HD6, isn't Sarah going to want her own?
Haha yeah, that would be a great shirt! I think Sarah is loving the upgrade form the Ripley to the Ripmo!
There's more than .01% going on trips I'd think! I did utah this year after being inspired by your videos there!
Love to hear it!!
Looks like an amazing ride
Most definitely!
Loved the video! Are we gonna get a bike check video on the new HD6?
Thanks!! It's just the stock XX build from the website!
Love the video . Really want to do the trip . How did the HD6 cope ?
HD6 was a GREAT bike for the endless tech!
Brian, try Shimano Saint brakes. The weight penalty is def worth it!!!
Nice!
Great work Brian, trails look amazing. Just curious how long that ascent actually took, cause that's some hike-a-bike 😂
Hours!
Point 1 percent’r here 👍 Another epic adventure man.
Yeah buddy!!!
The best part about people not liking Code brakes is that those of us that love them can get them cheap on the used market 😂
Hahahah I’ve got a pair I can sell yah!
I hope to be the .1%! Riding overseas is a big bucket list item for me. Inspiring video 👏
Hell yeah! Love to hear that
Magura MT7 are great brakes. Best I’ve ever used.
Nice!
Brian, are you going to do an HD6 review? I'm seriously considering one, I miss my old Hd5!
Bike feels good! If you can demo one you should!
@@bkxc I’m close to Santa Cruz, I’ll see if I can get a demo.
I picked the Ripmo V1 based on your videos, wondering how you compare the ripmo to the HD6 for trail riding?
Bigger suspension = better for me! I like having more suspension
coming from lowermainland riding which of their tours would you recommend, looking for as tech as possible, thanks
Love the High Pyrenees trip!
Why not to rent emtb for this trip? :) we not going to judge you😅
Not my cup of tea!
Spain! My favorite duty station. The country, the culture and of course.. the people! Amazing. So close to everything, easy to travel to other countries.
Most definitely! Good central location
And it even rhymes :D
man those trails look insane, I want to ride those trails to that lake and fish on it for some lunch. Yea, thats on my bucket list now, what lake is that?
No idea, but it’s a nice one!
I like my good old SLX brakes.
21:12 LOL!!!! I literally tensed up just watching. Beautiful scenery and glad you could get away BKXC ..... but if we're watching was this really a get away???? j/k Seriously, great content as always.
Haha thanks!!
Love the vids! You gonna come back down here to Malaga while you’re out?
Thanks dude! Not this time around, but I bet I’ll be back some day!
Love the videos keep up the good work by the way I’ve just got Clark’s brakes on my mountain bike and if I’m honest they work pretty good and well not really any issues with them good braking power do the job love the videos keep up the good work.❤️😎
Good to hear that!!
I would get MT7 with Oak Levers, best brakes I’ve ever tried/owned
I had feeling that you are most of the time on vacations:)
Haha yup
Did he say what the name of the trail or town was? Just curious to see where this is in the Pyrenees.
I'm not quite sure myself!
I got the general area by deciphering their website, then narrowed it down to the exact ride on Trailforks and Google maps by comparing photos and videos. The lake is Lago La Vasa de la Mora or Ibon de Plan and the town you had lunch in was Saravillo at 3300'. The pass you climbed over was about 7700' and the climb up was 2000' vertical.
I can hear your heart beat 😂 8:25
Ba boom!
I still remember how you were riding there last time. Time flies!
Oh and just get the Shimano brakes and stop experimenting :D
Great memories in those mountains! Haha, you’re right about the brakes
