Well done Wolfe Ridge! The fact that you used a single phase motor so anyone like me with an Rv will have a 50amp plug can plug this machine in and go to work! Great split session Bob👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool! The single phase electric motor will make a huge difference. I would think that most of us in the States do not have the ability to easily get 3 phase service, so I never considered an electric machine. You just gave me another option. Great job!
Hi Bob. That’s a pretty tempting splitter. One thing I noticed when you ran the log lift the hydralics didn’t stall at all. Looks like it has as much power or more than the gas powered unit. I like it. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice looking machine! I have several pieces of woodworking equipment (a drill press and a lathe) that have a 3PH motor/VFD set-up that I prefer over a single-phase motor and they will run on single-phase circuits.
Great step fwd! It has a whining noise, maybe amplified by the phone microphone. Is it from the pump or motor and can it be sound dampened. Some of the new and coming electric trucks have 14-50R outlets. My gosh to get rid of exhaust, gasoline, engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter and starting problems. This is a winner! Do not stop inventing new splitters! 👏👏👏
Thanks for the feedback. The problem with PTO pumps is that they can't handle the pressure so it limits the tonnage. I also don't like having a material handling machine tied up when you want to move brush, logs or trailer, etc...
Nice job team WR! Glad to see a splitter made with single phase motor. With all these new fancy ev home owners, they almost all have a 50amp service in the garage or shop. Is that a 4 pole motor? The frequency and whine of hyd pumps sounds faster than 2pole.
Thinking outside the box. One way of not voiding the warranty and running a generator on vegetable oil. Is that setup. . To keep a generator at the recommended half load, going to take a mighty big generator. Mabe 12k rated non stop output. Definitely better for grid power, for a number of reasons.
Looks like an awesome machine. Quick question. Do freezing temps effect the motor on this machine? I would be using out side in cold weather where it gets to -20C.
I think we would want to stay above zero for oil viscosity reasons. Trying to start this motor with frozen oil will certainly labor the motor and make a huge amp draw at start up. You could also warm the oil tank with a block heater prior to start up to help. Thanks!
Wowza!!! Very fine piece of Machinery there fellers!!! Would this work out if a guy needed to add an additional 50’ (that’s 100’ total) power cord. And any ideas what the cost dif is between electric v gas out here n Ca. Gas is $5.50 a gallon. Just curious, electric bill vs. gas bill!!! Haha
We haven't gotten that study done yet. The motor does run at about 30 amps on average at 230 V AC. Should be very easy to beat the cost of gas at 1.5 GPH on a 18 hp equivalent Vtwin engine.
A 3-phase motor has several advantages over a single-phase motor, including significantly higher efficiency, better starting torque, smoother operation, longer lifespan, and the ability
Man that's nice, being able to be indoors and still being able to get firewood done!!
Well done Wolfe Ridge! The fact that you used a single phase motor so anyone like me with an Rv will have a 50amp plug can plug this machine in and go to work! Great split session Bob👍🏻👍🏻
Rv 50 amp is a different set up, be carefull

Nice to see some single phase electric for the small firewood guys or homeowners that want to do it in their shed.
Nice job Bob, the 17VS either in gas or electric will fit a need in most any woodyard. Appreciate your review. TCT

That’s awesome! This will be great for folks who are in climates that require them to split indoors a portion of the year! Great video Bob!
Bob,
You are spot on at the firewood toss. Neat machine.
Outstanding!!! Single phase power and still really fast with Wolfe Ridge quality
Well Done!!!!!
Thank you!
Awesome job Chris , Bob and crew!! Great splitter, keep up the good work.
Thanks Pat!
Good video 👍 It's exciting that there is an electric option and that it is single phase 😊
Nice and quiet option. What's next for the Wolfe Ridge Family 😉👍
Sounds like a machine worth looking at!!! Good job Guys!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

Innovation at its finest.
This is a Winner!! Be great to see an electric option on the 17RS too
Very cool! Splitting inside would be great!!👍👍
Firewood inside!! That’s innovation 👊
👍👍👍👍👍👌Excellent demo, you didn’t do just the easy stuff excellent machine!!!
Thanks!
I love Bob’s reviews. Great job again.
You make some nice videos. No BSing around. Just the facts.

Noisey, huy
Nicely done!! I would love to see a PTO driven one so I can take the tractor hook it up and drive to woodpile and split.

Very Cool!
The VSE is going to change things for the high-volume bundle wood whoesale industry!
Any thoughts on options for the electric motor on any of the other machines ?
Yes, give us a call to discuss, thanks!
Some serious calf muscles there Bob! 😂 you may answer this later in the video, but can this be run outside if you have power and is it water safe?
Yep, OK to run outside, thanks Doug

Definitely not going to save money running it off a generator. Thanks!

That’s crazy Fast! How long is the cord it comes with?
Believe I heard them say 50 foot. 👋🏻
50 ft, thanks Matt!

100 ft tptal should be OK as long as it's 6 ga wire. We can't even ship gas engine machines to commifornia anymore, so this would be a great option!
Yea this state has gone plumb wacko!! And that’s being polite!!!! Alas where there’s a will there’s a way!!! Enter family and Nevada!!! 😊.
This is a very nice machine , inside splitting !! 👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🪵
Interesting product! Do you have any information on average kwh the motor uses and fuel consumption of the honda option to compare operating costs?
We haven't gotten that study done yet. The motor does run at about 30 amps on average at 230 V AC. Should be very easy to beat the cost of gas at 1.5 GPH on a 18 hp equivalent Vtwin engine.
I ran the numbers and with my current electricity cost it's about $1 per hour with no exhaust fumes, trips to the gas station or oil changes.
@donjackson742 that's amazing, thanks Don!
The blade appears to stop quite far from the table. Will this be an issue for very stringy material?
The wedge stops at 1/2" from the table at full stroke. If the wood is split before then you just lift your foot and send the wedge back up. Thanks!
Hello Bob…does the E have an hour meter like some of your other splitters? Thanks.
Yes sir!
single phase, better than that other one on the market that is 3-phase
