- With Rise of the Ronin on the way, I wanted to make a montage celebrating Nioh's 7 years anniversary that sums up the whole journey in this franchise.
Ranging from boss fight to combo exhibition, including some fun, yet memorable clips, this video will showcase why Nioh has been one of my favorite for many years.

Nioh 1 and Stranger of Paradise are easily somewhere at the top for the greatest Hardcore Action RPGs out there.
Rise of the Ronin got the open world that I wanted William to have.
I kind of wanna revisit Nioh just for some retrospective. sunk like 600 hours into this game and like, 100 hours into the Alpha and Betas.
Nioh 2 was way too easy, deviated way too much from what Nioh used to be. I'll never forget how savage Nioh 1 was in the Alpha and on Launch.
I got platinum on both niohs last year and they are amazing. This game doesn't feel like it's 7 years old. Nioh 1 is also one of the hardest games I have ever played. The fast combat and stance switching was something I never saw before in a game and I loved it. Hopefully the new Rise of the Ronin team ninja game brings that feel back.

Would you have any general tips for how to get locked into the Nioh games? I’ve got the platinums for Sekiro and Elden Ring but Nioh makes me feel like I’ve never played games before… and yes I’m Ki pulsing.

@@julianpischler9378 find what weapon you like and train with it. I used the katana and dual katanas when I played 1. You have to find weapons and move sets that you like. If you chain stuff correctly the enemy won't be able to move.
Start of just getting with the basic attacks, whilst swapping to low stance when you dodge. Once you feel like you're not dying so much and have more of the enemy patterns down incorporate some more skills you can buy for your weapon of choice and work them into your kills. Search online for good skills for your weapon too :)@@julianpischler9378
And the gameplay is very hard more than any games of fromsoftware .. sekiro is the easier gameplay and best gameplay the hard just in bosses .. but nioh both hard gameplay and bosses

I played Nioh 1 and 2 relatively recently and what I love about the games is that they give you the tools to play the game the way YOU want to play it. You can play it using all these fancy moves, and turn it into Ninja Gaiden/Devil May Cry, and that's awesome! But if you aren't great at combos and such, you can absolutely play it as a Soulslike, focusing on spacing and timing instead of stance-switching and combos.
The choice is up to the player which systems to focus on, how to play, and no matter which path you take you will be challenged.
Absolutely, the game allows us to find our playstyle that fits any skill level for everyone to enjoy. Whats awesome is that there will always be more spaces to challenge and improving ourselves even further with new fighting styles!

Phenomenal. It's been an honor learning from you all along. The immeasurable joy I've derived from these two games has inexplicably made me feel guilty!
This video was a journey through time. Not only for the protagonists and their perspectives on the events of both games as they unfolded, but also for us dedicated combo players, who went through our own journey of discovery and learning, on our own, and from each other.
As such, it keeps on giving me nostalgic flashbacks to combo videos I've seen from yourself and other people, particularly XLH. Most scenes, most of the setpieces, feel familiar, or reference something I'm quite familiar with from the time I've spent in the scene. From your boss rush videos, to the Kusa Mad Spinner tech, to Ultimate Raijin, several XLH clips, like the ones at 1.26, 1.46 (though that's reminiscent of many people who adopted the Kannagi->Earthly Flow sequence afterwards, as well), the Tengu fight reminding me of something I can't put my finger on, to your Master Samurai vs. Master Ninja showcase, and in the Nioh 2 segment, a few small recurring elements from your Combo Exhibition series, the fan-favourite dodges of Magara's flurry, the use of emotes to duck under Shuten's attacks as shown by a Japanese player, the Nioh 2 LW bug, and don't think I missed your recreation of what is, in my opinion, the coolest Nioh clip ever, against Yomi at 10.54, one of my all-time favourites from you...I even half-expected to see my Dancing Quickdraw tech in use at 2.36, haha. I feel it would have fit in quite well at that point in the fight.
Though your new ideas feel quite novel and interesting of themselves, like the Joro-Gumo LW juggle at 2.30, the free-aimed rock throw to knock Otani out of ki, that slick Kojiro fight, the Iai versus Iai dodge versus Hideyori, and, of course, the sheer swagger of the no-look Sword of Meditation on Onmoraki. And for Nioh 2, that well-timed Odachi Iai to break Gozuki's horns, the Spirit Wind horn break on Yatsu-no-Kami, and the leap over Honda's slam, as well as Azai's projectile.
Tatarimokke totally deserved that barrage of jutsu cancels, so that was satsisfying to watch. As is the regular Saito bullying.
I also find the narrative-heavy, cinematic approach you chose for this video an interesting change of pace from your usual combo clips. It really helps serve as a nostalgic overview of everything we players have experienced in the course of our time playing these games, in order.
All in all, thank you so much for your efforts to bring this retrospective to life! It makes me remember my own past with these games, and how much you, as well as others, taught everyone else, and what each person was able to contribute as legacy in its annals. Yours, undoubtedly, shines the brightest, among everyone else, and so, it is entirely fitting that the duty of commemmorating that journey would be carried out so well by you. I salute you.

fu...ing awesome video, i played nioh for so long at the end always helped a lot of dudes with missions and kodamas etc. it is nice to see what you are able to pull off combowise and dodging some enemy combos with your own skills.. you implement almost every aspect of the game in your fights, stances, weapon switches, yokai abilities..and you make it look so easy also with every ki impulse perfect.. my hand would get cramps doing so ^^
It's a good way to train your hands when playing intensively! Most importantly, you need to rest to not overwork.
Nioh way it’s been 7 years
Thanks for the amazing video. Tbh nioh is still the game that always in my pc ready to play. With a thousand hours in nioh 2, i still love to replay it.
Nioh 1 I was able to watch normally. Nioh 2's part had so much going on I had to replay multiple times haha

Ok, now for my actual comment: Holy shit dude. This video opened my eyes to so much more to this game. Just the sheer amount of skill and tech showcased in this video is staggering. That renegade dragon cancel into waterfall against Jin... Master class in fucking skilled gameplay. Again, Holy Shit.

I just played Nioh 1 for four years, oh...! I could reach level 750. I liked to use Tonfa Katana and Kusarigama, sometimes Spear, but Sarutobies Tonfagun was the perfect weapons.

Just got the Platinum on this on PS5, after already getting it on release on PS4. Great game, played it twice over and really enjoyed it!
I still prefer Ninja Gaiden overall but NiOh is excellent in its own way.
I love nioh 1 more than 2 but 2 is more monsters more bosses and special more skills tree .. but levening weapon is bad in nioh 2 .. in the end thank you bro for the video is amazing .. im enjoying watch and feel great remember for the part 1 of nioh 💪🏻😍👍🏻💪🏻😍👍🏻

5:33 was Mind's Eye with Dual swords low stance. 100% attack buff (ridiculous, I know).
6:38 simply Heaven Flash. Since the forward + X input is an evasion, it has s at the beginning, allowing him to pass through the wave, kick off her and avoid the 3rd wave with the verticality of the move. It was a master class in Nioh tech.
Makes me very sad. Can't go back where myself and the world can experience Nioh for the first time. All the surprises of the story, learning the depth of the combat, discovering builds etc. It's all gone, but that's life. And personally, Wo Long was such a screw up, that I'm not excited about Rise of Ronin.

It's not living weapon, it is a visual bug in Nioh 2 that gave it the visual of living weapon, you can search Nioh 2 living weapon bug.

You can legit parry kamaitachi and skeletons with haze so not a mod

But i m so curious about some moove at 9.40, you dash, walk then attack and instantly thrown hatchet after that then square for dash after throwing.
How did you throw it so fast after a dash attack ?
Other at 10.57 you hold triangle with fist, then square+square and instantly switch weapon whitouht switch attack.
You do the same with glaive and staff just before, how did you fast switch like that withou switch attack ? Sounds like you ki pulse with r1+circle, i m right ? Or you have faster way to do that ?
@@willythewaller7239The *living weapon* is a visual bug in Nioh 2 that makes that move looks like having living weapon, you can see he turned into yokai shift at the end, so no mods, just clever use of bugs.

In terms of gameplay and techniques to discover and master, Nioh is far superior. but the video doesn't have any quotes about Almas, it's a tribute to nioh I don't understand why you said that.

I disagree on people saying "Dark Souls is better than their wannabe who is Nioh". The excitement and freedom in Nioh is magnificent compared to Souls' simple controls.
