    23-YEAR-OLD Dana Nicole Oswald from Ontario, Canada has lost half of her body weight within a year - losing an incredible 125lbs. Dana says she’s always struggled with her size, but it was during university that Dana gained most of the excess weight. She told Truly: “Food was an addiction to me back then, I was eating 3,500 to 4,000 calories a day.” Dana’s food habits were starting to have an impact on her body, weighing in at 265lbs at her heaviest, she often felt tired and struggled with stomach issues. But it wasn’t until a doctor told her that the excess weight was causing Dana to have high blood pressure, that she realised something had to change. Completely reconstructing her eating and exercise habits, she soon started shedding the extra pounds. Dana shared her journey online, posting updates and tips on her instagram page: “When I started with my weight loss journey on social media, I was posting to share with my friends, but then it became a really good way to help out others.” When asked how the transformation affected her life, Dana wants to make clear that it’s not just about the physical changes she’s undergone: “The greatest part about the transformation is all mental, my mindset is so different, I’m so much more positive, less anxious and much happier.”

    I was 234lbs six years ago when I was 14 years old and was told I was pre diabetic. Since then I have lost 50lbs and I hit 184lbs a few days ago at age 20. I want to lose another 40lbs to reach my goal weight before my birthday. I wish luck to everyone on their health/fitness journey and that you all achieve your goals!

      The other thing that they did not say, unless I missed it, is that weight loss can take years to accomplish and this lady did not mention how many years its taken her. 3 weeks is nothing and even if you get a 1 kg loss that's a head in the right direction. Keep at it, if it seems to not be working in 3 months, adjust. Don't try to lose 10 kg in a month like we sometimes see advertised. The best weight loss is the most sustainable, not the quickest. Trust me, I have yoyoed tons in my life.

      @@elliet7295 I doubt im losing muscle mass. I check my ketone levels and its really good. Im losing 1 to 2 pounds per week which is average. Even a person not on keto can lose weight without exercising by simply changing their diet and can still lose a pound or 2 per week especially if they are starting out obese. Now if I was losing more than 3 pounds per week, then I would say im losing muscle mass. I am also losing weight quickly because I drink apple cidar vinegar , water, and lemon juice twice a day. I think losing 1 to 2 pounds per weight is normal. And remember, people that are heavier lose more weight in the beginning. I started off extremely heavy so I will shed more weight quicker. As I get closer to my goal, I won't be losing as much. Oh and also to add on is that my first week on keto i
      I lost 10 pounds. If you know about how the first week works when starting any weight loss journey is that in a persons first week they don't lose pounds of fat at first. What you lose is stored up carbs and water weight. So technically I lost 9 lbs of fat in 22 days. I wouldn't count my first week on keto as losing any fat yet. I would probably say that I started losing actually fat by the second week. So on that note, im on the right track.

I've lost about 80 pounds since then. I hope to lose more but it's been hard. You are such a inspiration. I'm so proud of you even though I don't know you personally. True, but the people stuffing their faces are just as worthy of love. Just because they harm themselves with food to supress emotions doesn't mean we *shouldn't* love them. It's not like we have a finite amount of love and can only spend it on certain people.

      @@stormthechaser2665 I like your point about respect. But I think feeling judged and unloved drives most fat people to eat MORE, not less. I think most of us need enough self-acceptance to be able be with ourselves without the distraction of addictions, before we can really change.

    • @DragonBornGirl50
      @DragonBornGirl50 3 роки тому +9

      look, no one is saying bully these people and don't love them. You should always treat everyone with respect irregardless who they are, if they give you respect as well. Who they are as a person isn't relevant to the health part of the question imo.
      Now, what concerns the health part, and btw, none of you asked me about this no worries im just developing on my comment earlier for context. That is the issue with this mentality, people are growing up in echochambers like this fat acceptance propaganda (especially big on instagram, the fakest app you'll find around) and they think, seeing these celebs who are paid to promote this, that it's fine when it's not. Just like anorexia and other eating disorders, you do not want to be someone who overeats. I used to be in super great shape, I worked out 4 to 5x a week and did sports. Then I met my bf and got really chubby and everyday I motivated myself to be better. Granted, being someone with a sweet addiction it's hard, but you don't just say "oh my body is fine as it is, what can I do" you say, look what can I do to change my bad habits (i.e. cut carbs, calories, exercise more, etc) and as long as you are trying, you are on the right track. The point is most these people are lazy and want society to change to conform to their lack of motivation to get healthy, and as a biochemist, it's against science. Trust me you do not want to be living this lifestyle let alone gloryfing it. If you want a healthy, long prosperous life, take care of yourself and what you eat and cut the excuses. Life doesn't care about your excuses, the body doesn't care, if you treat it badly it won't run smoothly for long no matter what you believe. Physiology doesn't care about feelings, it's an input-output based system.
      Also, everything in life is a balance. Doesn't mean be rude to them, but you have to have some tough love in life and give people a push or else nothing will change and no one will get a will to change and see their problems. If everyone around you says you're perfect, what motivation do you have to change? None, you think you're perfect. We live in a society of denialists these days, don't be one of them. Be healthy for your height and keep a healthy lifestyle, that's it. No one says you have to be those fake models or the next Arnold, just be healthy. Im not even getting into the political and economical problems related to too much of a population being overweight.
      Also, when i say you I don't mean you personally, I mean people who follow this mindset.

    I definitely eat more than my sisters and that's why I'm bigger than them. I'm a mesomorph, so my body fluctuates daily, but the only reason I am not overweight is because my eating patterns are so random. Counting calories is too much for me, but I noticed that I eat a lot some days, and don't eat a lot other days. Some days I unintentionally intermittent fast, and sometimes, if I ate a lot at night, the effect isn't that bad cause I had barely eaten anything during the day. But it is the reason why I haven't reached my goal weight in 10 years.

I don't think aiming for a certain figure is a good way to try and motivate yourself (though idk, it may work for some), so I would suggest just trying to focus on feeling better first and foremost.
