Jamal Williams Let me be more clear...when she decided to stop extreme dieting for body building she would be heathy at that point...gaining 20+ pounds of fat at like 5’4 for a woman would make you obese...she said gaining the weight helped her mental health...that’s a dangerous statement bc 99% of people won’t gain 20 pounds of fat from excessive eating and feel good mentally...she has a PhD in cancer research not nutrition or physiology...did you see how I responded without insulting you even once, that’s what being mature and reasonable looks like...

@@jmorefit1 Yes, that´s correct. If her weight hasn´t been over about 65 kg, she wasn´t overweight. Her weight however could have been over that mark, without being overweight, because she still had a lot of muscle mass. Also, there are new studies that show that women who are slightly overweight live longer. Has something to do with hormones.
It is not as if she had a normal body beforehand and then gained 10 kg. She hardly had any fat on her body, which can be very unhealthy, as has been seen in her case.

@@jimraynor7788 What she meant was that every body is beautiful in it's own way, and just because your not somebody's 'Type' it doesn't mean that your not beautiful at all. I think that putting down people's body types can really impact their self image - something the beauty and cosmetic industry thrives off of.
However, I get what you mean about not all - i.e. those bodies that are severely over or under weight because it puts you at serious risk of all sorts of health problems. The mainstream media is to blame about sending such mixed messages about health and fitness - there is no 'one-size-fits-all' approach to it; you have to figure out what works for you using the science. :)

My hunger is normalizing, I eat between 2000-4000 calories a day and I love my body. Yes I did gain weight. I've never had to deal with backlash on social media. I could not personally relate to your struggles and yet this video nearly moved me to tears. I love your openness and am grateful for the role model you are to young girls and women. Keep doing what you're doing, Stephanie. You have my utmost respect.

I'm so glad a man can understand what a big, big deal this is for women - normal women, let alone anyone in the public eye. I eat less at the weekend to keep slim, no dinner tonight so I can have a drink without feeling guilty about the calories. My fiancé loves me regardless, the pressure comes from advertising and social media. Stephanie is incredibly, incredibly brave and resilient putting her head above the parapet on this issue. What you don’t realize is, even if you lost the respect of the fitness side by going all in and gaining weight to fix your health, you gained an incredible amount of support from the eating disorder community. Even though you are different than us, you still had the same symptoms we have: extreme hunger, fear of gaining weight, amenorrhea, 24/7 food fixations, and a damaged metabolism.
I’m sure watching your journey has helped countless of sufferers into venturing out of their comfort zone and aiming towards recovery. 💜💚

That's the thing though .. She DID/DOES have an eating disorder. Even though she called it "Extreme hunger" it is an ED. She described feeling full but still wanting to eat and eat and eat and that is called bulimia. Could be exercise bulimia or just overeating bulimia. She also had anorexia where she was afraid to eat, gain weight and had amenorrhea.

    • @BeeBeeMacGee
      @BeeBeeMacGee 4 роки тому +271

Pink Rainbow no, she has disordered eating. She didn’t feel guilty for eating in excess and compensate by purging through exercise. Eating disorders and disordered eating are two completely different things. Unless using food as a coping mechanism, it’s not a diagnosable eating disorder.

@DeadLittlePunkDoll Why? A size 0 implies maintaining a weight below what is natural and healthy for your body, doesn't it? The body is supposed to carry a certain amount of fat. That seems more like an aesthetic desire than someone genuinely healthy- it seems like the opposite.

I've always respected her because she wasn't just a stereotypical "fit chick" with no credentials but ever since the all in journey, seems like all her posts are either whining about how she looks, or loving the way she looks.
She made it very clear at the start that the goal was just to be healthier but it seems like now, she's just focused on looking good like most other fitness "influencers"
Basically what I'm saying is she's drifted away from health above all else by constantly letting the way she perceives her looks to affect whether or not she wanted to continue with a healthy process.

YES YES YES. It would help SO many people!! I have definitely been there with the crazy appetite, it felt like my stomach was a black hole!! It's the most uncontrollable hunger I have ever felt in my life. I was restricting and not eating anywhere near enough! It’s like your body forces you to start eating like crazy to catch up. It took me a year for the "empty pit" feeling to go away after I stopped restricting, working out like crazy, and started eating a lot. I had a lot of bloating issues too just because I am tiny and I was eating like crazyy to satisfy my hunger. But that went away after about a year too. Now I still eat a lot more than normal but my appetite has definitly stabilized more and I no longer feel like im constantly starving! This is why its not good to be exteme with anything. Balance is key!

A Human yes same here !! I am "all in" now since 1 year, too, and glad that I found stephanies channel right after the beginning of my decision to eat more..! First I wanted to try eating a few hundred calories more but mostly clean. But then I found her and her interview with dr. rinaldi I went "all in" with all foods I wanted to eat... a lot of "healthy" (tons of porridge, sweet potatoe, avocado and olive oil..) also not so "clean" foods (chocolate and a lot of pasta, butter and toast) and this was the best decision.
Today my hunger cues are most of the time "normal" I eat 2500 to 3000 calories every day now and want to continue because my hunger is still a good amount higher than from others but for me it's the lowest hunger I've ever experienced since beginning with this journey.. I think stephanies experience and dr. rinaldis advice is helping a lot of women and even men... I don't know what I would do without stephanie.. ❤️

There's a difference between obese and thicc. Nothing wrong with being soft, but it's not good to promote an image that is detrimental to someone's health. She's still well within a healthy weight range, if she added another 40~ pounds you'd probably being hearing people chime in about health issues, which are legit. Why people get upset when the people around them clearly want what's best for them I'll never know, but telling someone who is severely overweight that they need to lose weight is no worse than telling a coke addict they need to quit coke. Both are behaviors that will shorten your life as well as greatly diminish the quality of your life.
You don't have to be a size 6 or whatever, just be healthy enough that basic things in life are challenges for you (if you struggle going up a flight of stairs, probably time to address priorities.

      1) they are a person fully immersed in fitness who strength trains and understands their body extremely well, and grasps the fundamentals of diet and nutrition
      2) has at least above average genetics
If the individual doesn’t satisfy that criteria, they’d probably just gain a ton of weight and struggle to lose any of it in the future.

In all honesty, I was too ashamed to talk about it. I felt like no one would understand. I ended up gaining 60 pounds in 6 months and weighing the most I've ever weighed in my life. It took a few months before my weight slowly started coming back down, and believe me, it was slow!! I felt so unhappy, like I had failed and I was going to be overweight and miserable forever. The biggest thing that changed my life was finding a good therapist and writing in my journal every week. Sometimes I would read my (very disturbing) journal entries to my therapist and we would break down the distortions. If you afford it, I highly recommend seeking out a good therapist who will understand what you're going through. You can get through this, and it's absolutely worth it! I've maintained a very healthy weight for a couple years now and I haven't binged or restricted once. I wish you the best : )

Sending you love. I have never suffered from anorexia and even I have that voice in my head telling me I’m not skinny enough. I wish that voice was telling me that I’m a healthy weight and that I should be happy, but I’m working on it❤️

Stephanie, you’re so brave not only doing this “all in” journey but also sharing your ups and downs with the people on social media. Being an influencer in fitness industry is absolutely an huge obstacle for anyone to choose to do this, but you did it. There is no doubt that your contents are helping and would help more people who are facing the same issue, your efforts are invaluable. Just wanna to say girl, you’re absolutely beautiful and inspiring! Keep doing these good stuff! Best wishes to you ♥️

@Young Simba The people you're listed are indeed brave, but she's brave too. You can't invalidate her suffering and journey just because there are people who suffer worse. So what if she makes money from this? It's not like she's scamming money from people.

Young Simba I sincerely agree part of your comments! I give all my respect to whomever fighting their adverse circumstances for the good of their wellbeing, both mentally and physically. my heart goes out to all the people who are suffering from food deprivation, single parenting, and diseases. But all of these doesn’t conflict with I think Stephanie is a brave women who stepped out to sharing her fear and being an inspiration for people who are suffering from their relationship with food and their body images. Also this video is totally free to watch and to take away some valuable information from. Everyone has to do something to make their livings, I think her work is valuable and her intention is kind.

The pic that flashes when she talks about her six month peak with “I felt so badly about myself” is such an incredibly beautiful body to me. That is what I would love to look like and actively workout to achieve.
Jeff’s comments that you are beautiful at every size is very true. The size that makes you cry and want to hide away is another’s goal.
So proud of you for this. And I loved hearing from your sister!!!

Jeff's follower here. I've been deeply moved by this amazing life changing leap of faith where a certain truth is talking us more than every limiting believes that surround us we have to detach from. I'm very proud of you. I'm glad you documented it and shared it for others to see it and be inspired. It is not only a story of hunger and appearance. It is a story of listening to ourselves and to trust our natural side and our body. It knows the way when we can get out of the self too. And certainly a story of letting go getting to the right side of us eventually and bounding with it.

Steph, I honestly can’t thank you enough. As a teenager who saw you as a “fitspo” I almost felt like you gave me permission to go “All in”. When you did it, knowing you’re an intelligent woman scientist I definitely gave it a try. Your videos give me so much hope and guidance. Also thanks to Alice Olivia and Dr. Rinaldi, they’re so inspiring like you.

I don't normally comment on videos but this was really amazing. I am a personal trainer and used to compete and then had 2 children and gained heaps of weight and have had issues with food and training ever since basically because having been super fit and then having a normal body it can be hard to adjust. I was body shamed when I went back to the gym to work and just never got my mojo back. I honestly wish more people would do this and go into intuitive eating. Thank you so much for your video!

As a former anorexic (my weight reducing to 67 pounds at one point, heart rate to 25 beats per minute and parents almost witnessing my death) I cannot tell you how much you have helped with my recovery. I loved the idea of being the fittest of the fit and have always seen you as that. To then see you reach a higher weight (yet still look wonderfully healthy, fit and beautiful) is inspiring to me. The fact you are educated makes me trust that this is the right approach. Thank you, thank you and thank you!
