Ol' Scheib Man felling some popluhz...gotta love it!!! Get'n after it with the 500i like a man-beaver making them trees drop like dominoes. Starting to remind me a lot of Buckin' Billy Ray in this video footage. Great vid Scheib!
Been using a 55 rancher for over 16 years...Just bought a 362 cm with a 25 inch bar. And here you go making me wanna spend more money....lol Great video. Tipping my beer to ya'll
You boys cut wood like I like to. No messing around, just cutting and stacking. In my case, it was always cutting and loading, with a little sharpening mixed in. My marking tool was always my Mark 1 eyeball. I cut them 1-18 inches and I generally had a scale to measure with - the bar on the saw. I might be off an inch or so on a particular round but most of my rounds were generally plus or minus an inch. If you cut six or eight cords a year, as I did, you get pretty good at cutting equal length rounds. I did not like big rounds because you had to split those.I generally like to cut 6 to 8 inch trees, which did not require splitting. They were also lighter to tote.
Nice work. Leaving money on the stump though, poplar is higher than its ever been right now. But I dont know where youre working and what the situation is. Im not gonna be like a lot of people that comment on videos like this. Im sure you have your reasons that you do it the way you are. Great work. Just came across your channel
Do you always use the Humbolt notch? Those are some flyin’ chips! 👍🏻. I use the acc-u-mark as well. Just got a mingo marker so I’m going to do a comparison...
I personally only use it on very large trees, but even then I might use a conventional notch to avoid doing a stump cut later and take it all out from one go instead.
Not missing that MS290, I would guess. I had one once but moved on to the pro level saws. They are so much better to work with. MS290 is heavy an lacks the needed power, in my opinion.
I think poplar gets a bad name for firewood, I like burning it when its not so cold out, but need some extra heat (think upper 30's & 40's deg f outside) yea its heavy as balls when wet, but the amount of water in the wood is amazing, cause once its dried out, the same splits weigh next to nothing, I like splitting big fat 6" splits, does me good considering many people turn it away.
For poplar those saws don't impress me one bit. My 460 would never dog like that saw on poplar! You can't find a much softer wood than poplar and a crapy wood for burning, kindling yes, heat nope!. Good for pulp and turning for spindles.
Great video. Nice to meet you at the Paul Bunyan show.
Outstanding video today Schieb
Sweet saws man! Those baby’s sure rip, made quick work of buckin that poplar up!
There's nothing like sharp chains and chips flying! Great job guys. Thanks for taking us along.

Left the stumps high for some leverage for removal.
@@OutsidewithScheib digging the stumps out.. that’s kinda what I figured. Nice work
That new saw of yours hardly knows that poplar exists!
Wow. 2 500i!! You must have really fell in love with the saws. Haven't held one yet, suggested bar??? Have a Safe Day
I like the 25 inch I only own 1 of the saws my buddy Sam owns the other.

I still use it but is is way slower the the 500
Lol saw is too fast to cut soft wood lol. Cut so fast you can blow right through hinge. Great work on the video.
Well you go back and cut the stumps closer to the ground?
After we pull the root ball

My parents burned lots of popular and cottonwood over the years..
Not a ton of heat but it kept us warm in the winter..
Heck ya 🪓🤙
If you had hollered, we could have had 3 of the 500i’s working in unison 😏🪵👍👏😎
