I prefer the old style for the most part, the new art style looks puffy or buttery in half these scenes (like a Instagram filter), and often, too dark or oddly colored, this game didn't really need the remaster, just an 4k texture/resolution update. I have the collector's edition of the original, so I'll be happy with that.
Looks really bad in low lighting scenes, decent when lighting is high. Lighting is deff improved to today’s standards. I feel they smoothed Max’s face way too much and not enough with Chloe. She’s pretty, but Kinda kills Max’s dorky look in the original. Emotions look a little more genuine now but man I’m not really that impressed. I’ll prob just wait for October to buy this on Sale
I really like how they did the more extreme expressions and the little detail of a visible tear on Max's face when she goes back in time for the first time. She looks visibly in distress in the scene that she didn't have in have in the original
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Max smiles when she takes the picture. It shows an actual passion for photography. It's adorable, and I cannot wait to play the remasters!
0:20 -> Original vs. Remaster? Maybe a mix of both. First got more details but second is more "warm" 0:23 -> Original vs. Remaster? Original for sure! The fog is definitely missing. 0:31 -> Original vs. Remaster? First scene where Remaster is really better, that Hair looked like sh*t in the Original 0:33 -> Original vs. Remaster? Original for sure! 0:52 -> Original vs Remaster? Original for sure! The lighting looks way more pleasing. 1:00 -> Original vs. Remaster? Original for sure! Cloes hair look so unnaturally blue and a lot of the detail-information are getting lost. And why did you delete the fog again? 1:11 -> Original vs. Remaster? Oringal for sure! Remaster is way to dark! 1:20 -> Oringal vs. Remaster? Original for sure! Fog makes the scene way more beautiful. Colors don't need to be that clear in my opinion - gives the whole situation his own charme. 1:25 -> Original vs. Remaster? Remaster for sure! At this scene, the Remaster-Animations look way more natural. 1:36 -> Original vs. Remaster? ORIGINAL FOR SURE! Do you see this? Where the hell are the colored lights in the remaster? So much information is getting lost because of the lighting and with it all the beautiful atmosphere... 1:50 -> Original vs. Remaster? Remaster for sure! Here the Animations are really good! Also love the shining eyes when he gets angry. 2:10 -> Original vs. Remaster? Original for sure! Where is the fog again? 2:12 -> Original vs. Reamster? Original for sure! Do you see that? So much information of the texture of the boat are getting lost. 2:16 -> Original vs. Remaster? Remaster for sure! Here we got the first scene, where I really like the dark lighting and the hair are more natural - but it's freaking raining outside next to a freaking hurricane! 2:18 -> Original vs. Remaster? Remaster for sure! Here I think we got too much fog - the first time. Good you deleted it here. 2:30 -> Original vs. Remaster? Remaster for sure! Here I really like Max' facial expression! Even because of the shi*ty light all of Max' blue eyes are getting lost again.. All in all in my opinion you did a pretty good job with the facial expressions and the new animations. But why would you ever delete that beautiful fog through the sunlight - thingy? This make so much more of a beautiful atmosphere.. I don't care if it's real or not. EDIT: Dust-Particals is the right description for it. I always thought that all of this light blury and foggy atmosphere is some sort of the artstyle of LiS. Now after you've changed all of it, it feels much more like "we couldn't make it more clear back then, now we could" - it destroys a big amout of LiS-Identity in my opinion.
I like the detail of Max having tears on her face after she rewinds time for the first time. She just witnessed something traumatizing and it makes it a bit more real
When Max comes to from her vision of Chloe getting shot, the tears streaming down her face hit HELLA different than in the original. I've only played to Chloe's House in EP1 so far and the visual and emotional expression detail is tremendously improved!
Just starting the remastered tonight. I'm excited! And like many people pointed out, of course we have that nostalgia feeling about the original. Nothing can ever touch that or take it away from us. But you have to admit the mocap done for the facial expressions are amazing with the remastered. They both deserve some love, now we will be able to experience a familiar story, differently. And that's very cool. What i was most impressed with over all was when a character cries, you can really see the tears. Regardless this is an awesome addition to an already amazing series.
Remastered is an exaggeration. I think this game looks worse than the original, which looks fine i guess, even today. The facial expression and lip sync has gotten worse for some reason. The color scheme is much more simplistic as well, with less detailing. Max's back shows that the classic had wrinkles and the new version doesnt. Also, light colors are lighter and dark colors are darker, idk why. I'd recommend you stick with the original game and watch this on UA-cam. I'm sure Jackieboy will play it soon. (Also, the original is $20 and can go down to $3 depending on the deal, as apposed to this, which is releasing at $40)
I think the reason why we don't see wrinkles on Max' sweater in the remaster is because it actually moves like actual clothing. The original was more of a blobby texture which looked like it could move but it didn't.
Whenever i hear LIS ost. My legs feel weak and my body doesn't want to move. Their choice of music wraps my mind with confusion, and anemoia. My heart feels tight so much it hurts.. This game is a masterpiece, i don't want that to change.
Jeez. Hearing the music at the first click brings back so many memories. I was planning on buying this game again but after hearing the music, nope. I cant do it again yet haha
0:51 This is the problem, I have with the remaster. Yes, the models look better but they are kinda dull.. Max in the original actually looks happy to be gifted the camera, while Max in the remaster. Looks like she's contemplating her life choices.. And the original didn't even really have any solid facial animation.. So that says something. I just hate when people make baseless remasters.
I think that's just a look of shock honestly. Like, she's shocked Chloe just gave her something that belonged to her dad, knowing how close Chloe and her dad were.
The facial expressions in the original are actually more emotive. Compare at 1:34 for exampl. Right has almost no emotion. Same at 2:15. Even worse is the lighting. Did they forget a spotlight? The original eyes at 2:29 convey much more emotion. Same at 0:07. 0:01 left she is smirky, right she is dead inside. 0:45 they probably forgot that the original lighting artist wanted to draw focus to the character by using light. In the remastered eveyrhing becomes a blur. At 1:12 at the left she is feeling wonder, intrigue, on the right she is feeling nothing. 1:20 wh did the butterfly lose the slight light emission it had? It's no longer magical, now it's a normal butterfly. I don't understand these kind of changes. 1:33, again, emotion in the eyes.
I don't think I like the way Max looks in the remastered version. I think they went a little heavy on they eyemakeup for her. Best thing they did in the remaster is Nathan.
honestly, that song is still haunting me. oh man. i only played it once but the footprint it left me is unbroken. insanely good game. if you want a game that emotionally shook you so hard that you would cry yourself to sleep like a little girl who just discovered titanic or marley and me movies... or any other emotional as fuck movies or shows out there that you love and adore.. well, you're in luck. this game has comedy, sci-fi, romance and it will kill you from the inside out. it is slow but after i'd say mid-way point onward its a cliff ride. good luck playing it without shedding a tear.
I wished they'd just improved the face animations and that's it! The lighting of the original one was perfect. The screwed the lighting, textures, reflections, etc.
I'm gonna fucking cry This game is just everything for me I remember going insane when i was like 12, 6 years ago This game means so much for me, i'm really passionate about it
I definitely think Max looks better. I wish she wasn’t quite so pale but she looks great. And Nathan’s expressions, especially with the more alive eyes, are amazing. I personally think it looks better than the original
for all of you saying the original looks better... I've played both versions and I'll tell y'all that the remastered looks significantly better when you try it yourself
I don't like that they are removing max's imperfections by like smoothing out her skin and making her freckles and dark circles less visible idk doesnt feel the same
I prefer the original because it has a special ambiance with a harmonious color palette but the remastered is killing it. I mean some colors are so popping that it doesn't fit the mood of this game at all
The textures look better yeah, tho sometimes it looks like the characters hale less expressions? 2:15 in the original she looks scared but in the remaster she looks like she's not even there.
in the remastered version i notice some scenes where it has either has very warm colors or very cool colors in comparison to the original and it takes away from things sometimes. in the restroom when nathan is walking you see his jacket looks more watercolor-like in the original, giving it more style and redness while still having contrasting colors that are complementary, while the remastered version has overall way cooler colors and has less of a red color but more of an orange color to it - giving us a completely different color and even saturation of the jacket’s appearance. also the original looks way more stylized, and the eyes look more expressive at times as well [ex. in chloe’s room at 1:38, in the remastered version her eye pupils are less visible and it takes away from the expressiveness of the emotion she conveys.. the warm colors are also intense in the remastered version while the original has a contrast of cool and warm colors that are complementary and look so natural, even part of the style too.]
Yeah they did that for no reason lol. The only part that i saw bad about it was how everything was flying everywhere even after the camera touched the ground.
Ngl I miss that golden hour sunset indie vibe in the remastered version that caught me in first place. In some scenes the lightning seems kinda off, but besides that it doesn’t look that bad
I'm sorry, but this is very bad. You can condemn my opinion or disagree, but... The emotions in the original are much more alive. Yes, there is a poker face, but for the most part, comparing the original and the remaster, you see much more emotions in the first picture; in the remaster, it just looks ridiculous... Either too much, or very bad. Sometimes it's really good, I don't argue (like how Max smiles in the pool scene), but for the most part everything else looks very bad. You do not feel the emotions of the characters, as it was in the original.
Why did they add more mascara on max? Made her cheeks bigger too. This is the same studio that created Automata and FFXV. Hard to say but when it comes to fighting mechanics and making the character look more realistic, Square is just square.
Best remaster ever, bro) There is only a week left and we will plunge into the deep world of Life is Strange again and look at Arcadia Bay from a new angle. And also, of course, we will leave Arcadia Bay with our beloved Chloe :) Pricefield Forever and Chloe onelove 💙🦋🌀
I wish all the fans were like you, the others are caring about lighting and hair, and they end up forgetting that their favorite franchise is coming back remastered. (And for those who are complaining about the graphics, it was decknine not naughtydog who made REMASTER, don't expect next-gen graphics from a studio that never promised that.)
@@senecazz Thank you very much, brother. I just don't understand the nagging from other people, it's a remaster, not a remake. In general, let's wait for the remaster together, you cheered me up :)
@@senecazz Sure I do, it's their only argument to rebuy the game - wtf. Of course it's a great Game and of course it's pure nostalgic. But it also could destroy the good Image of it because most of the games identity comes with atmosphere and good, real emotions to a brilliant story. With the improvements on the facial expressions they did one half really good. But if the second half isn't as good anymore as it was before, why should I risk to get disappointed for a game I let into my heart instead of just replay the Original?
why people are saying that looks the same?! It's a freaking remaster not a remake, for a remaster they did a really cool job, doesn't look perfect but it is not ugly or the same
Max was dorky and aloof, and we loved her for it. Now she´s a smiling Disney girl. And somehow, in general the dead pan faces were more realistic and fitted the strong, dark storyline better. A deeply moving game about human shortcomings doesnot need explicit smiles and twinkly eyes ...
I feel like the original game graphics are better than the remastered version bc, the graphics aren’t all that better. I was under the impression that the remastered graphics would look just as good as LIS 2 graphics but I guess not. It’s so funny how LIS & B4TS are already overshadowing LIS 3 Truecolors. I like True colors but I expected more, I feel like characters like Chloe, Max & Rachel are a trio that’s a tough act to follow. As a fan I still miss those girls.
The update does seem like a massive step up, particularly with the facial expressions and most *Definitely* the lip sync for sure. But something still seems… missing? Idk, I can’t really put a finger on it. The lighting maybe?
I read a comment on one of these kinds of videos saying that they felt conflicted and I honestly feel the same way. In some ways, this remaster looks better, and in other ways, it actually looks worse. The facial features tend to look more emotional, which is great, but at other times, when the original had certain characters or particularly Max from what I've noticed, already looking emotional in the original, the remaster would, rather than highlight on that emotion, it would make Max look as if she was displaying a different emotion. One example would be at 0:06 when Chloe points the gun at Max. In the original, Max looks frightened, which matched how Hannah conveyed that emotion/reaction through her voice (in my opinion). While the remastered has Max almost angry it looks like. It just doesn't fit the tone of voice being conveyed. I may be looking at that scene all wrong, but from my perspective, that is what I saw. This is why I'm a little more skeptical when it comes to remasters because in my opinion, most of them look worst than the original so I often just prefer to try the original versions of games. At least at first. Some remasters are very good like the Kingdom Hearts remasters. There are very few things that are better about the original games in my opinion. So of course I will still be giving LiS remastered a chance since I paid the extra money on True Colors (which I honestly thought was somewhat underwhelming) for LiS and BtS remastered. There are some great improvements for sure, (Like going back to some of the emotional detail. Particularly the scenes of Max and Chloe in the pool and Nathan going after Max and Chloe in the parking lot) which I am looking forward to experiencing it. But like another comment said, I don't know if it is enough of an improvement and it does feel like an "update" more than a remaster because a lot of the remaster hardly looks different from the original. But we will see.
The scenes from Chloe's bedroom look awesome. The bathroom scene...that's where Chloe's eyes seem unnecessarily big. Everything looks too dark..I can barely see Max’s eye.
It's very bad. They lost all detail.
0:27, I dislike how much of a blob of single color KAte's face is in the remaster, it had more depth in the original
I love that Chloe’s necklace moves now!
I want to see Dana’s earrings :))
omggg i didnt notice that it looks really good
Looks really bad in low lighting scenes, decent when lighting is high. Lighting is deff improved to today’s standards. I feel they smoothed Max’s face way too much and not enough with Chloe. She’s pretty, but Kinda kills Max’s dorky look in the original.
Emotions look a little more genuine now but man I’m not really that impressed.
I’ll prob just wait for October to buy this on Sale
yess i agree the face smoothing really frustrates me
00:50 Maxine's face really says it all.
I really like how they did the more extreme expressions and the little detail of a visible tear on Max's face when she goes back in time for the first time. She looks visibly in distress in the scene that she didn't have in have in the original
1:22 Max actually closing one eye to look through the viewfinder, and smiling as she takes the photo 🥰
I think the game was meant to be blurry and low def, it gives off a vibe like they are in a dream. It what made the game so peaceful and nostalgic
Cannot wait to see some of my favorite scenes remastered! Pretty much all of episode 5 will look so insane
The original water colour style art suit to its story and music. It gives you some vibe you can't express.
I still prefer the original, but I’m just happy to see Max & Chloe again. I love them sm! 🦋💞
1:21 love the details when max take a shot
Me to💔
0:33 wtf is that lol
Gmod slowmo physics
i see what they were trying to do but they fucked up lol
A Polaroid Camera Breaking
0:33 bro the camera is shitting out glass wtf 😭😭
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Max smiles when she takes the picture. It shows an actual passion for photography. It's adorable, and I cannot wait to play the remasters!
Faster, Faster.
I'm waiting for Remaster. 😁
0:20 -> Original vs. Remaster? Maybe a mix of both. First got more details but second is more "warm"
0:23 -> Original vs. Remaster? Original for sure! The fog is definitely missing.
0:31 -> Original vs. Remaster? First scene where Remaster is really better, that Hair looked like sh*t in the Original
0:33 -> Original vs.
Wow, this really is a mixed bag isn't it...
When Max comes to from her vision of Chloe getting shot, the tears streaming down her face hit HELLA different than in the original. I've only played to Chloe's House in EP1 so far and the visual and emotional expression detail is tremendously improved!
Idk but max's new hair is too different from everyones hair
Also the camera's shards of glass being bigger is nice
I think in the remaster, the bulb breaks as well.
And there will always be people who say 'honestly i prefer the old version'
dunno but Max looks more emotional in the original. When you look at 2:28
Just starting the remastered tonight.
The graphics and facial expressions in before the storm were perfect, they didn't need to completely alter their faces like that
Whenever i hear LIS ost. My legs feel weak and my body doesn't want to move. Their choice of music wraps my mind with confusion, and anemoia. My heart feels tight so much it hurts..
This game is a masterpiece, i don't want that to change.
why is no one talking about taylors glow up
Just when I promised myself I’d never buy this remaster this OST pulls me back in. Damn it Max get a damn sequel already.
Everything looks worse to me. But at least floor reflections and better hair right?
Max and Chloe looks more unnatural in the remaster
I like Max’s old face better, but her hair is cute!
Same
honestly, that song is still haunting me. oh man. i only played it once but the footprint it left me is unbroken.
insanely good game. if you want a game that emotionally shook you so hard that you would cry yourself to sleep like a little girl who just discovered titanic or marley and me movies... or any other emotional as fuck movies or shows out there that you love and adore.. well, you're in luck.
this game has comedy, sci-fi, romance and it will kill you from the inside out.
it is slow but after i'd say mid-way point onward its a cliff ride. good luck playing it without shedding a tear.
remasters look more blurred and smudged to hide that they didn't increase the poly density
Chloe’s remastered smile is my favourite thing ever
Ya it looks like before the storm 💔
I wished they'd just improved the face animations and that's it! The lighting of the original one was perfect. The screwed the lighting, textures, reflections, etc.
I'm gonna fucking cry
This game is just everything for me
I remember going insane when i was like 12, 6 years ago
This game means so much for me, i'm really passionate about it
I absolutely prefer the original to the remastered in almost every single way.
I don't like that they are removing max's imperfections by like smoothing out her skin and making her freckles and dark circles less visible idk doesnt feel the same
also notice how they made Max keep her eyes on Chloe as she's dancing and not looking at the wall because her head moves
You can see way more emotion in the remastered version I love it
The tears in Max's eyes when she zaps back to the classroom after saving Chloe from her first demise.
Eyes are a bit too wide or big in the remaster. They look unnatural. Remaster has a lack of expression. Ex 0:06 Look at the eyebrows. They dont move.
i’m so used to seeing the old max that i don’t even think the remastered one looks like max anymore..
Same
I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that it looks awful. The original looks WAY better, even with imperfect facial animations.
I cant believe this game is 7 years old, damn, I remember its beauty like the first day
I prefer the original because it has a special ambiance with a harmonious color palette but the remastered is killing it. I mean some colors are so popping that it doesn't fit the mood of this game at all
0:33 do they not know how broken glass works?
WHY DID THIS GET ME SO EMOTIONAL 😭😭I LOVE THIS GAME
The old lightning and style + the new animation and expressions = perfect
Trump 2024!!
I hope they fix that because this along with the destruction effect on the lighthouse cause they looked SO out of place
Yeah they did that for no reason lol.
The only part that i saw bad about it was how everything was flying everywhere even after the camera touched the ground.
Reminds me of the headache 'white' rain from the GTA trilogy remaster.
@@banditrts2153 I literally stopped playing everytime it started raining on san Andreas
god i pissed myself laughing when i saw it
Ngl I miss that golden hour sunset indie vibe in the remastered version that caught me in first place.
Yeah any other expression apart from happy looks a little uncanny
I think thats also because of the artistic style they also took for this one.
Why did they add more mascara on max? Made her cheeks bigger too. This is the same studio that created Automata and FFXV.
Hard to say but when it comes to fighting mechanics and making the character look more realistic, Square is just square.
Best remaster ever, bro)
There is only a week left and we will plunge into the deep world of Life is Strange again and look at Arcadia Bay from a new angle. And also, of course, we will leave Arcadia Bay with our beloved Chloe :)
Pricefield Forever and Chloe onelove
💙🦋🌀
@@senecazz Stop saying bullshit, this remaster is fucking shit
@@TheGamerYaserNuevo Oh, my God... no one takes away the original game from you...
I understand the swimming pool of reasons why they remasterd the game.
The xbox 360 version is my pride and joy
I'm sorry but i prefer the original🦋😕❤
Idk if this is a hot take but the remaster looks like it was recreated in sims 4, original just has more charm and life
Old max and new max are entirely different people, and they have lifeless dull eyes in the new one
If you download reshademe and add lumasharpen+vibrance+levels, the game is going to look a thousand times better, trust me.
why people are saying that looks the same?! It's a freaking remaster not a remake, for a remaster they did a really cool job, doesn't look perfect but it is not ugly or the same
I would like to see old lis but with facial animations ( like mods which adding this animations )
But this Remaster kinda looks cool too.
I think ill just switch between which version I play since i cant decide which i prefer and ill never stop replaying this and Before the Storm.
CAN'T WAIT!!!
I bet if you switched the Original and Remastered labels nobody would be able to tell...
Original is better
Which editor do you use?
The original one is way better.
0:26 Kate’s eyes r less baggy & dark, I always appreciated that u could tell she wasn’t ok without ever speaking to her.
The lighting maybe?
make a comparison of gampeplay vs old trailer. You'll see how much they downgraded it.
I like that she's not poker faced when bleeding from her nose
To be honest, Nathan looks better in normal version. In remastered version he looks inoccent and kind but in normla he looks crazy and bad.
He doesn't should look crazy and bad.
