Bananas!!!!!!
All truth
wow, that bass control by domi isn’t appreciated much. She’s such a talent
Werd
she does basslines better than me with just my bass guitar LOLOLOL
It's like a ghost. Can't see it but you feel it
shit sound man!!
Her hand independence is out of this world. Can't wait to see what she does with the bass pedals.
It's hard to believe how good she is. Freaking key bass with one hand while owning the lead piano part. Insane!!
But, but- that is what piano playing traditionally is. It's a coordinated, two-handed operation. And as far as it being on two separate keyboards, well church organists have been doing it for hundreds of years. I still think DOMi's playing is accomplished and mesmerizing- just so you know.
Have to agree with ken. As a piano player...Nothing special about that. BUT THAT DRUMMER THOUGH. was amazing i would trade all of my piano talent to play like that
@@kengruz669 The thing that makes it so crazy though is that it's not the same class of instrument. They way she plays the bass on the left is a totally different dynamic style to her right hand, a lot more staccato and punchy. If it was two e-pianos or synths that are played the same way then it would just be a left-right separation. This is different.
@@scladoffle2472 you make it sound like it's murder levels of no no lol. all he did was adding a little perspective in a mildly mannered way. hell if I was kellynkarr I wouldn't have been offended in the least.
@@scladoffle2472 To me, you're being 'that guy' and it isn't a good look.
Domi's left hand has it's own separate brain I think
Keith Emerson is the Father!!
Yeah, it's called Jaco Pastorius.
@@timb.6269 left hand is saying jaco, right is saying chick
so true
yea but every one of beck's appendages has its own brain
DOMi not getting talked about enough holy crap she is amazing
Kieran Humphreys she really is tho, and I'm a drummer lol
BIG FACTS!!!!!!!
In videos with Louis Cole everyone was talking about him, and here everyone is talking about the drummer, she doesn't get enough recognition, it's so frustrating.
Daniel JD just has such a unique sound and style that he pops out.
Daniel For a lot of obvious reasons so quit being but hurt

DOMi is a phenomenal keyboardist and honestly only using like 15% of her usual power in this video

Don't Ask What Kind Of Music agree this is like a light stroll in the park for DOMi
"Jazz isn't dead it just smells funny". Frank Zappa... JD & Domi being weird and awesome. Pure gold here.
It would be interesting to know how these two met, and what clicked between them early on. Anybody? They are equally brilliant, which is what makes them stand out. Total precision. They are a perfect balance because neither outshines the other. Such a rare thing. Domi's jazz skills running through endless jazz modality runs is astounding, and JD augments her playing with absolute precision butterfly drumstick flutters. Where did these two come from? Possibly another galaxy ....
they met by chance at NAMM
If I buy a Nord does JD Beck come with it?
Surely they haven't already figured a way to clone the boy yet, no? I know Vic Firth had their best scientists experimenting with that.
In all seriousness, JD is truly incredible.
My fav comment on here lol
Alec Armbruster i can listen to him all day this video gets at least 5-10 views a day from me since it was released. I am sick in the head? Lol
LOL, that's a good one...would be a helluva deal of a lifetime...
I'm convinced .. their power comes from their hair. So much talent, so much hair. So damn good!!
I dont know....i mean Poison had ALOT of hair.....
@@enkilqc It's not about how much hair there is. It's about how you use it!
Born rich and went to the best private music schools since she was 3. She better be fucking good.
So the heavy metal musicians are the most talented.
@@joryharris8002 And yet, she's even better than snarly comments like this expect. You can't throw money at someone and expect perfection, talent is an important if not THE most important thing you see here.
I once dropped a bag of marbles on a drum set and that was the closest I've ever played to this.
this comment made me laugh... good one dude!
If you dropped a bag of marbles on a drum set and this is what it sounded like... Wintergatan just committed suicide.
lol!!
I once dropped a whole bag of pills and this is what reality actually sounds like.
When I listen to their music through a system with good bass response it becomes instantly and deliciously apparent what a fine bassist she is.
I love it. ❤💥❤️💥
If any drum teachers have a kid that says, "But I want to play drumset, why do I need to practice my rudiments." Just show them this.
Or show them jazz
Underrated Comment
JD is easily one of the greatest rudimentary drummers I've ever heard. Not overly technical but incredibly precise and clean. I don't think I've witnessed anyone as clean as JD.
@@11thHrPro I find Clay Aeschliman and JD really similar, like their pauses and fills carry so much weight its insane
Idk man, my philosophy is that if a kid wants to play something, let him do it. Don't put him off from music
And if later he needs exercises to improve because he wants to get better, then make him practice the rudiments.
they way that they are in sync, the way they communicate thru their playing and eye contact. theres something almost intimate about watching these two play. genuinly brought tears to my eyes lol
All bands do that but not all bands do this!
@@RSCL_BEATZ it's true, but something about watching these two, it's like you can tell they are perfectly in sync, almost like they've known eachother their whole lifd
They have total trust and comfort with each other - so many leaps of metric modulation, but they always catch each other
It has to be some kind of hi level psychic connection
@@jacobgeorge3398 more like as if they've been jamming together non stop for double their life. Love these two.
Domi’s style is impeccable. Walks the line of dissonance and harmony with such grace and composure. Beautiful.
You can’t hide it from us Nord, some of us know that this song is actually called “You Can Sniff My Butt.” Don’t take the weird out of these two! It’s part of them
Sniff is still pretty weird 😂
It's funny how talented people can call their songs whatever they want and it's a hit, rather than "normal" people struggling to get a name for their masterpieces. 😂
@@billyyfire same with fashion...if a mortal wore that outfit to school they'd get beat up. When cool/famous people wear it, it becomes fashionable.
@@jasonrekker4328 either you're old or off the hook. Their clothes are pretty up to beat with modern urban fashion.
@@NotDingse Well I am definitely old. But my point is that they are "up to beat" precisely because influential people have told us so. This urban hipster vibe is carefully crafted to be ironic. Not judging one fashion to be better than another, only to comment that what we regard as fashionable or in good taste is decided by and shaped by a few influential people, and the rest follow as sheep.
It's so nice to hear jazz rudiments embraced by a new generation. Y'all are tight! Thank you
WHAT????!!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!????!!! He's making jungle beats without a drum machine? HE IS A DRUM MACHINE! Amazing. And DOMi is playing bass with one hand and keys with the other. Just outstanding. YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!

So glad, that domi found this adequate genius companion. Theres hope for a bright future of highend quality music by incredible gifted young artists. Very inspiring!
This is so true and could push them both to...
Right? All they need now is a similar minded bass player (so her left hand gets a break!), and they've got a world-bending trio.

Holy shit, that's one of the most exciting music moments I've seen in the past few years. Groove, precision, feel and intent. Wow.
Just saw em in Tokyo, absolutely killed it.
another day, another me coming back to play this 37 times in a row
2 of the most technically gifted musicians in a generation playing together.
4:11 JD use Hat stab!!!
It was very effective!
Anyone in music knows that these are two of the most supremely talented musicians in many generations. That they came together almost by off chance is amazing.
Anderson Paak knows what he has, and now so does the rest of the world (thankfully).
Any critic of these artists is ignorant.
We are seeing something truly special. If they’re at this level now, can we imagine what we will hear in 10 years?!!!
Wow to both of them!
This comment aged well. Their album is one of the greatest of all times.
I agree. it's exciting to think about it. We are witnessing, in real time, jazz legends in the making.
Let's hope they keep their focus and ambitions🤞 and that nobody tries to break them apart.
Yeah that’s why I come come back to this
That left hand Bass is just incredible.
Fantastic. Never heard them until last night. My kind of music.
honestly the most impressive stuff jd beck does is just keeping the groove interesting and not too repetitive but also not too much

Her left hand is literally Thundercat.

The best duo now in Contemporary Jazz; the future will be good.
Drummer is killing it... and all while rockin’ the victorian doll outfit. Crazy skills 🔥
Majority of people who play the bass guitar do NOT have this level of groove. Way to go DOMi. JD Beck is the perfect musical counterpart. What a duo. Whoosh!

I'd say it's more of a squarepusher vibe
It’s the nineties from drums bass to break beat to trip hop to apex and square pusher... very arty jazzy

It is cool to hear drum and bass done on a set by a real human.

Yea, you really need to have a drive for it. I personally have sticks with me half of the day and am always tapping something. I'm probably garbage, but I like to think I'm decent. But yea, if you don't really have a drive for it, go find something you do have the drive for; it's the drive that separates that greats from the decent
@@killmoreturtles bro if you always sit with the sticks, I can tell you in a few months or years you're gonna be big :P

I had to listen to this 3 times in a row, and send it to like 5 people. I'm in disbelief of how excellent this recording is. This 100% accomplishes it's goal of demonstrating the quality of the equipment, but this also goes _so_ hard, that I'm genuinely struggling to cope with how good it is.
I had to catch my breath after this. Sick!!
Killin’ it. Technically impressive and catchy. Has a Soulive vibe
Man, the synth bass in the Nord Lead is freaking sick!!!
I had no idea it was possible to play the drums like that live!

One of the most impressive ensembles I've ever heard & seen.. Surreal chops.
I think the engineers on this recording need WAY more credit. This shit hits so hard, it almost makes their recorded stuff fail in comparison.
I think i actually like this version more than the one on the album the drums are way more crispy and pop out more. I guess that was just a creative choice on their part but something abt this live version has stuck with me over time.
It is SO CLEAR!!!!
AGREE like this version album is great but this is fabulous sound engineering I like the approach

I feel like I’m playing a 90s racing game with that fantastic dnb
My word.. "Two young prodigies" is an immense understatement! Ray Manzarek would be picking his jaw up from off the floor.
Just discovered them today and I am totally addicted. Fantastic playing and out of the box approach.
Very polished; for two pieces - these songs take me to the 1970's - early 80's when Rush, Jeff Beck and other Jaco P and progressive jazz/crossover rock bands were playing. Both artists are so talented. The drummer has stamina without dropping a bead of sweat. That keyboardist is so creative and accomplished and their timing together is impeccable! I adore their look and can't wait to hear their other cuts on YT.COM. Good luck to them both.
