If I remember rightly, the "ball turrets" along the sides and flanking the central superstructure arent actually turbolasers, but ion cannons equivalent to the one the Rebels used on Hoth to disable the ISD Tyrant.
man, Bellators are ridiculously amazing - if you play for Pentastar, you just wait till you get two, then put them in the fleet with some scouting ships and start dropping them on the enemy. The only thing that can somewhat survive is Tzeentch on his home base
True, I use them a lot in GM. One for my primary def fleet with multiple escorting ISD and IPV. The other one I use as one of my assault fleet with several secutors for fighter support.
God damn I LOVE THIS SHIP, definitly my most favorite imperial starship. Far more flexible than any other stardreadnought so far and still enough weaponry to kill everything the galaxy has thrown at us so far. Also I could imagine that the Megador and the Dominion were modified versions of the Bellator with additional engines. That or I am just too big of a fanboy when it comes to that ship. Thanks Eck for this video.
6:13 The Secutor's design was based on a background ship from Dark Empire and it was later featured in other Star Wars works. I like how it looks like a Venator (because it was designed shortly after the Clone Wars).
I found your channel a few days ago and I'm so glad I did, because I love how professional and in depth your discussions are (this video is a perfect example for that). Plus you do a lot of Legends stuff which pleases my old EU heart.I don't know if there is actually enough information about it, but a breakdown about the battle of Malachor V is something I would wish for a future video. Nonetheless, keep up the good work!
I really like your videos man. They are always interesting and I really like how dedicated you are to them. The research that you do can be seen in every single one of these videos. It is very impressive and while some SW channels that I really like don't upload that many videos anymore I am glad to see you are still going strong. You are probably my favorite sci fi channel. Keep up the good work.
Integrated command structure, internal shields, no large upper hull doors like the Venator had, it allowed it to field a lot of fighters, but was a weakness when it opened. Slightly bigger than an ISDII but with a lot more anti fighter guns.
Imperial-III probably would have been something like republican Nebula-class SD, btw nice question, I hope Eck will make such video, also would be nice to know his imagination on Victory-III, Secutor-II and his ideal walker
A better design for the Venator mark 2 would instead of the main doors on the top front that expose the hangar bay to enemy fire, have launch bays on either side, in the cut out sections of the 'U', with point defense guns and tractor emitters on the walls of the cut out sections, either side of the launch bays that are at the base of the 'U'. These would cover the bays from enemy starfighters as they would have intersecting fields of fire that would create a death zone in front (especially for sneaky Jedi/Sith types). Have the emitters mounted flat on the walls and able to aim into the bay, they could hold enemy ships (including larger corvettes, for the guns to kill) and assist with recovering damaged and captured ships. A couple of small ion guns could be added to assist with disabling ships as well. The point defense guns could be mostly placed on the top and bottom leading and trailing edges of the 'U' in ball turrets so they can fire to the respective top or bottom arc of the ship if no fighters present themselves directly broadside or opposite front or back of the respective wall of the ship. As for the main heavy turbolasers, instead of the ridiculous broadsides through shields arrangement of the Venator, they are group mounted in ball turrets staggered along the side of the hull on the 'arrow blade' of the wedge, where they can target both to the front and the side, almost to the rear arc. And from pure vertical both top and bottom. The hanger is no longer a vulnerable zone in a head on confrontation and fighters can launch from cover either side and then break up, down, or straight out to the side. And with a threw bay, one side can be dedicated to launching and one to docking, avoiding the risk of collision, if necessary, (during a battle if ships are coming in for battle damage or resupply of ordinance). And having two bays doubles the number of fighters that can be launched at a time during a scramble, and prevents an accident blocking both bays. The medium turbolasers would probably be mounted along the flat of the wedge since its free of other projections and covers both the front and either top or bottom arc (and they wouldn't be used for a base delta zero, unlike the heavy turbolasers, so being able to only employ half of them to the top or bottom arc is not an issue, although why don't capital ships just aim nose first at a planet to bring all guns to bare ? Oh right, they're ship at sea, in space). Laser cannons can be mixed in amongst them as well to protect against enemy fighters, especially if they are trying to strafe the bridge. Now all it needs is to fix that bloody vulnerable bridge issue, and maybe stick some point defense on the rear to protect the engines. Season with heavy ion cannons and missile and torpedo launchers as you wish and the ship is complete. It is deadly to the front, top and bottom and half as deadly to the sides (2/3rds if you include medium turbolasers). And it has multiple connected, protected launch bays with covering fire. And starfighters can dock and relaunch during combat without exposing themselves too much to counterfire. Just hope they install a secondary internal bridge in case of a stray A-Wing …
I'd say the Bellator was a Dreadnought if Grand Admiral Thrawn had designed it. No, really, Thrawn would concede that there were times when a massive capitol ship was needed even in his fast moving and fluid style of warfare and the Bellator would fit his overall command style, being so much faster and manouverable than an Executor Class or Mandator series dreadnought. It also eliminates all the classic weaknesses in most Imperial capships.
Great review of the bellator , Eck Your description of the ship is good and it is useful information to have Seems like grand admiral thrawn will like this ship as his flagship and emperor had revealed this ship to him
Still having a massive dreadnaught is never a bad idea it inspires your forces and creates fear in your enemies, just don`t leave the bridge and other vital systems exposed and sticking out and be sure to cover all angles of attack.
I have a question Grand Admiral Thrawn. Would the Chiss / Empire of the Hand have used Bellator's in the Unknwon Regions or do you think they would have used something more like the BC-304 {Stargate}.
The only dreadnought I would have more than one of would be the Bellator. Most dreadnoughts are too vulnerable and too slow. They limit your tactics to "walk towards your enemy and try not to die" or "stand there, MENACINGLY!" That's largely why IRL dreadnoughts and battleships have vanished from the naval warfare scene. They're too vulnerable without absurd levels of protection. The Bellator, meanwhile, can move in flanking positions while the rest of your fleet causes problems for the enemy. The Bellator in this role actually serves the role a dreadnought is meant for--force projection--very well. A single Bellator can match the firepower of several ISDs while being much more mobile. I would gladly take two of these over one Executor.
Apart from the likes of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamil, Carry Fisher:'( and Admiral Ackbar, Fractalsponge is the best person related to SW these past few years.
Still my favorite Legends ship. There are few threats in the Thrawn's Revenge mod requiring a Dreadnought response that a Bellator couldn't handle just as well as an Executor. I think the same could be said of the galaxy in Cannon as well.
Thank you so much for making a video about what is possibly my #1 favorite capital ship in the entire Star Wars franchise! (#2 is the Raider Corvette, both are beautiful warships~)
Already 282k, 500k soon, dear Eck. It's not Assertor, but still nice piece of imperial war machine P. S. in Assertor, Bellator and mysterious Megador we trust
Really cool vid, I love a lot of the super star destroyer designs (even if some get kinda rediculous). It's cool to see some background and info on the Bellator, it's a cool ship and really unique in it's design philosophy. It would be cool if you could cover the Asserter class at some point, or maybe the vengeance, another cool set of designs.
I know you'll get to this in the finale of the Vong sub-series. Won't stop me from going through the motions though. Anyways: Can you breakdown what is by far the largest space battle in the entire franchise? *The* *Battle* *of* *Yuuzhan'tar!* I have made this request: Sixty times.
Be nice to see a Legends Lore video on some of the smaller ship types used by the smaller independent navies of the EU, like the Kaloth Battlecruiser, Kruk Battlewagon, Ishori and Bothan War Cruisers, the Diamala stuff, etc.
I love my Bellator! Playing Empire at War wth the PENTASTAR ALIGNMENT and my Bellator is the Flagship of my 3rd Fleet. Grand Adm Octavian Grant is clearing out Zinji while the Reaper is closing the Pincer from the West.
I think I have a new favorite super star destroyer now, I love the design of this ship. Harrower class from Star Wars old republic still my favorite but this one cmes in second
My OC's fleet had one, it was their biggest ship ever. If my story's were to be cannon their fleet would resupply and help the Resistance in their fight against the First Order
I would probably have an eclipse class but I would have made multiple improvements i.e. make it longer to house a couple of extra power generators and give it a lot more turbolasers and bigger engines
I have a entire fleet with an eclipse as a command ship/support ship since that is basically what it’s designed for with the super laser and interdiction generator
40k thing, basically a big metal bug the size of a head and made of necrodermis (Necron alloy) Thoses are mostly dangerous when deployed in a swarm, an isolated one can still be a threat but definitely not against a Covenant scarab
The first clip is my favorite part of Star Wars Some massive ship jumps out of hyperspace in attack mode and lights up the enemy before they have a chance to react
I really like the concept behind the Bellator. I think its probably my favourite SSD. Sure the Executor class is Intimidating as hell but its size felt like a weakness more than a strength. Same for the Eclipse class.

My favorite star wars ship.
Also, it's super satisfying to use as a flagship in Thrawn's Revenge.

Cool
Me too
If it was modified to have gravity well projectors then it would be a rebel nightmare.
If I remember rightly, the "ball turrets" along the sides and flanking the central superstructure arent actually turbolasers, but ion cannons equivalent to the one the Rebels used on Hoth to disable the ISD Tyrant.
@@vishnu79 oh shit!
You’d need Real plot armor to Survive that.

Did he get credited or was the design stolen again?

Lovin these daily uploads!
Good job for a ship who’s official stats are “many turbolasers”

Super star destroyers might be one of the coolest topics in Star Wars
The perfect video doesn't exis...
Ahhh it does exist!! *faints
Juan Lodri oh I don't think so
This ship in the EAW mod "Battlefront Commander" just absolutely rips space stations apart with all of its guns and I love it.
How would you design the Venator MK II or the Imperial-III to maximize the advantages and minimize then weaknesses?
Integrated command structure, internal shields, no large upper hull doors like the Venator had, it allowed it to field a lot of fighters, but was a weakness when it opened. Slightly bigger than an ISDII but with a lot more anti fighter guns.

Hi Eck I love the video and Thanks for giving me insight on the Bellator Super Star Destroyer. This is one Bad Ass Ship! Love your vids and bye!
Now this is a ship I’d want in a fleet
The Bellator is probably my favorite imperial dreadnaught, thanks for doing a in depth breakdown of the ship.😁👍
Great review of the bellator , Eck
Your description of the ship is good and it is useful information to have
Seems like grand admiral thrawn will like this ship as his flagship and emperor had revealed this ship to him
A ship the size of the Bellator is as large as I'd go when it comes to capital ships. Anything larger than that is too inflexible for my tastes.
Still having a massive dreadnaught is never a bad idea it inspires your forces and creates fear in your enemies, just don`t leave the bridge and other vital systems exposed and sticking out and be sure to cover all angles of attack.
I have a question Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Okay then at least I get to eat well an be cared for no matter what LOL
The Bellator, you want guns? *We got ‘em*
PLEASE do this for more capital ships and Star Destroyers! That would be awesome!
I always enjoy how much detail that you’re able to give us every time you break something down. Keep up the great work man!
My absolute fave Star Wars ship , thank you eck.👍
Honestly my MOST favourite SSD in Star Wars! Thanks for making a video about it!
I've gotten familiar to the ghost doge in the corner of the intro, and it always makes me so happy just from looking at it :)
I do love a good Secutor. It looks like my baby the Acclamator achieved final form.
Looooove the Bellator, definitely my favourite ship in Star Wars. Been waiting for this video for a while. Awesome stuff as always

Still absolutely love that clip of your dog. Good video as well, the bellator would definitely be my choice for my personal flagship
Ah, Fractalsponge's models always look incredible!
I've been looking forward to this!-Count Dooku

Possibly the coolest dreadnought in the setting.

The secutor is in the byss defence fleet if you look carefully Eck
I have that book! Love it!!
That thumbnail was so enticing i swear it took everything i am to not immediately click it
I love the bellator easily makes my top 10 ships
Type-47A(H2) scarab vs type-47B(H3,reach,odst) scarab vs Banished scarab vs Volatile scarab

40k thing, basically a big metal bug the size of a head and made of necrodermis (Necron alloy)

You should do Ship explanations for every major legends ship.
The first clip is my favorite part of Star Wars
Some massive ship jumps out of hyperspace in attack mode and lights up the enemy before they have a chance to react
Could you do a Star Wars species breakdown?

It'd be cool if you could do a Top 10 Shield generators. You can including stuff from Legends too like the Xythan Force Shield and stuff!
My favourite class of star destroyer
Awesome
Well, it is now officially my favourite dreadnought in the setting. Followed by the Assertor.
I have the wood-carving process for this ship on standby; gotta get a large piece for this.
This is amazing video , even for a jedi master.
I really like the concept behind the Bellator. I think its probably my favourite SSD. Sure the Executor class is Intimidating as hell but its size felt like a weakness more than a strength. Same for the Eclipse class.
Of all Imperial Star Destroyers I would choose the Bellator.
I’ve always been fascinated by the ship.
Has he done a video on the Pride of the Core? The ship that comes out in the mod Republic at War?
