Kobeni was super annoying at first but after seeing her sick moves she's actually kind of cute. She deserves more love, I hope we see more of her.

I think it’s funny how when we first meet her we are literally told by Himeno she is extremely talented in combat but she just gets scared (Which is even funnier because so would literally any normal person but I guess being scared of a devil makes you annoying) and yet people are surprised when she pops off.
Well personally I just didn't like her from how she was acting in the motel episode, loved her appearance though, so it was this was just kinda her regaining the respect she lost

I think it’s even funnier that Demon Slayer is one of the most popular animes and we’ve seen Zenitsu pop off but people didn’t expect Kobeni to at some point
@KD that’s because Zentisu essentially has two different forms where he’s either super scared or an unconscious badass, so there’s some rules to him being strong.
With this chick it’s literally just her being super strong and OP but refusing to fight for some reason and crying in a corner. Even when she was trying to stuff, such as killing Denji, she sucked, so no one expected her to actually be super strong because 2 episodes before this she was extremely weak.

A cool detail about this scene is how terrified BOTH of them are that even ONE of the Devil Hunters got away. They knew the only way they could take on all of them was with surprise attacks. Sawatari immediately uses her snake on what looks like a tiny woman with a single knife while Katana man looks horrified. 10/10

She had kobeni at her throat once already, she felt the threat.
I guess Makima's attack unnerved them. Plus Kobeni is a devil hunter who survived the surprise attack so they expect her to be strong. They don't know what contracts she may have.
they realized that there's one that could survive a bunch of armed dudes without getting hurt.....and she did all this without manifesting any power as far as we know (unless the contract enchanced her to be this badass)
I like how she goes slack during this fight. Her face is expressionless, her arms hang at her sides, moving only when she needs to use them... It suggests everything she is doing is based on instinct rather than any real thought. So her first instinct was to run along the tail of the snake devil, slice off her attacker's hand, and grab the gun out of the air to shoot him.

And that's why Himeno knew to immediately knock her out when she picked up a knife in the hotel. I think the most underrated thing is Kobeni's baked-in expression of concern, like her teacher just told her to explain a homework problem she didn't do, throughout her whole John Wick-ening.

@@Zack_Wildfire well with how she was acting and then doing this were very jarring so of course people were gonna be surprised. I’m betting that some demon is possessing her body to handle this.
The moment you realize she shot him in the shoulder blades to make his arms functionally useless until they heal... without looking at him, just a chef's kiss.
This was the most shocking moment of the chapter for me.
Not Makima dropping orbital bombs, She’s the head of the devil hunters she obviously was badass.
But seeing Kobeni go completely John Wick and even chasing away both Katana and Snake was surprising to say the least.
It also impressed me, even though we already knew she was good at fighting when she was first introduced by Himeno
I had no idea that kitchen knife was her main weapon. I thought Kobeni just grabbed a random one from the motel room for that one scene.

@@esorik.-.1683 could also be a stipulation of one of her contracts too, she never reveals them and we know some contracts give special weapons. Kobeni may have one that requires she fight without a "weapon" to get her super agility (In this case I'm not calling the Kitchen knife a weapon since it's not made for combat, it's made for cooking, so it would qualify as an improvised weapon like a broom or frying pan)
Kobeni said the devil she has a contract with "is a secret." I think the secret is that she has NO devil contract because we know she is terrified of devils. She just has incredible physical skills and abilities as we see here.
Compare that to Kishiba: one of the strongest Devil Hunters around, and not once have we seen him use a contract. Some people in Chainsawman are just built different.

I really love the little details they put into her acrobatic skills. I mean you can barely see it, but as she is jumping onto the snake's tail she releases the knife, backflips, stands on her legs and starts running, while grabbing the knife, runs onto one light post, launches herself from another, cuts Katanaman's hand and jumps across them both, before grabbing the knife, shooting, and then going to Denji. I mean wow...

Its crazy though, only time snake girls used her power was to eat the hand demon or whatever it was. Snake girl got scared enough to use her devil against a timid girl with a kitchen knife.
She summoned it and kobeni just used it as a ramp

I mean kobeni carried against akane. The entire aki vs ghost devil fight was basically just a distraction so Kobeni could sneak up on her and capture her

The way she just cut the arm of, took the the gun in midair, and shot him in the back without even looking was so f*ckin sick.
Not just that, but WHERE she shot him without looking. She completely disabled his arms. This makes it impossible to remove his remaining hand. Kobeni neutralized his devil ability.

@@titang6173 Actually is thanks to her cowardness that she is able to survive and defeat humanoids, but she is unable to properly fight against eldritch creatures (which is understandable)
So far this is my favorite animated scene in the series.

Idk if anyone noticed but kobeni’s reaction time and her strides are ridiculous. When she takes one step she moves about 15-20 yards. Idk what her contract is but she clearly got super human abilities with it. Denji barely left a scratch on the Katana devil (or sword devil idfk) but Kobeni lopped his arm off in under 5 seconds. One of the most underrated characters in CSM. It’s giving ZANETSU
Kobeni got her development quite fast, is a girl with impressive skills.

The best part about this scene is that once the fighting kicks off she doesn't look terrified. The reflexes kick in and the adrenaline starts flowing. No time for fear.

This scene reinforced the fact that some of the best moments from CSM aren’t even the fights, (some are but you get what I mean) it’s the ones that completely catch you off guard with how unexpected they are.

Keep in mind Kobeni is this good without her using her Devil Contract which we know she has one cause she mentioned it at the bar. Makes me wonder what Devil she is contracted with and how powerful it makes her.

Based off the Monkey accusation I wanna say Kobeni might have a contract with the Monkey Devil and the cost probably is mental in nature, something like her memories, her courage, her sanity, something along those lines. I say it's mental because she isn't missing any noticeable body parts like Himeno and she didn't need a bandage like Aki does whenever he calls Fox. I guess it could also be life span related too
before monkey devil, i thought it was a luck or (somewhat) agility devil, and the contract allowed her to use these abilities only when in absolute danger in exchange for her courage and confidence
@@Pr4TheNPC I don't think there's an Agility devil since Agility is a characteristic not exactly something to be feared. Like you don't get scared watching a guy do a backflip or do parkour, you fear he's going to fall in which case it's not the agility you're scared of, its gravity.
@「Pr4 A Bot」 I think it's luck. In later chapters you find that she has terrible awful down right comical bad luck. But when her life is in danger the luck does a 180 and she becomes toon force tier.

This is just headcanon that I probably stole but I think she made a contract with a fear devil. This made her constantly afraid but she can constantly move as agile as that, since from the looks of it she doesn’t lose anything physical.
Edit: I just realised that means the devil feeds of the fear of fear which either makes no sense or makes her like on par with primal fears so that can’t be it.
