    I have had tinnitus for 8 months and was driving me crazy, couldn’t sleep, became depressed etc. I started using bi modal stimulation, bio feed back, sound therapy such as this, taking magnesium and B complex and most importantly biking or brisk walking and my tinnitus level went down to 6 & sometimes 5 from 8 ( 10 being the highest). In the tinnitus world this type of decrease in volume is great- good luck to all, we are in this together. Stay strong

    thanks for the noise! 😀 Tinnitus can't be cured, but it can be less bothersome. I don't understand those comments, lol. It's most important to learn to ignore and not pay attention to it. The brain is inclined to amplify things you focus on, so the more you listen to your tinnitus, the louder it becomes. Some people have found relief by trying Gingko Biloba and zinc, but it didn't work for me. In my experience, not paying attention to it works best. Spending time in nature, especially by water, like the sea or rivers, can also be helpful. There is promising research underway, and hopefully, it will be available to everyone in the coming years.

    I had tinnitus for a while, it is a horrible thing to have but I pray to God for healing to those suffering from it, a few suggestions though, getting your ears cleaned by an ent specialist or an audiologist may help, a change in diet, low carbs and low sugar, walking at least 20 minutes a day will definitely help, it may take a few weeks but eventually it goes away

    This is like scratching an itch. Itch is a type of pain. It is the lowest pain on a perceivable pain scale. When you scratch an itch, you induce a bigger pain to cover up the lower pain. When you notch out frequencies of white noise, which is the full spectrum of noise, you can remove the specific frequency of the tinnitus. When you crank up the volume of the notched frequency white noise, this makes your brain notice all the other frequencies more except for the notched frequencies. Like scratching an itch, it feels good for the moment at least, but seems to come back after you finish.

      You're describing perfectly the phenomenon known to ENT surgeons and Audiologists as RI (Residual Inhibition) For some the tinnitus stops or apparently is inaudible but soon returns on the masking sound ending. Sometimes relief but for some none at all. To me all these notches sounded identical and nothing covered up my binaural tinnitus.

I have three distinct notes that I can hear really loudly, but I'm unable to isolate them for the tinnitus matching, so I'm just cranking this video up as loud as I can tolerate it to see if my tinnitus disappears (even temporarily). Well me too actually. I was JUST telling my husband lastnight about this. He has no clue how bad it is. ...only saying that he has some ringing too and nothing you can do but he has zero clue what I'm talking about. Zero. Many people have tinnitus. But many people have it SEVERE. I have it severe and 3 different frequencies. I also have an additional super low humming in right ear that sounds like a low engine. CONSTANTLY.
      I have to sleep with a noise machine and up the highest setting.
      I have mentioned the only cure is a gun to my head as well. Because it is. .......however I don't want to die that way. So I just don't have anything else to do except wear my blu tooth daily with white noise.
      The proprietor of the famous Texas Road House , who I knew personally in Louisville, Shot himself in a field at his house because of this.
      (I knew he had other issues though because I worked with him but extreme Tinnitus I can definitely imagine him NOT tolerating.
      God help all of us with the severe cases of this. Being outside is the only relief I have and I'm tempted to just sleep outside more. I still hear it on quiet nights of course but it just helps.

      As stated in the text description box:
      "The suggested treatment protocol if your tinnitus frequency is 8,000Hz or less is to listen to the notched sound for long periods of time, ~ 5 hours or more at a time. Notched music appears to work as well as notched white noise.
      If tinnitus frequency is above 8,000Hz, listen to the notched white noise three times a day, 1 hour each time. Notched music does not appear to work well for tinnitus higher than 8,000Hz. Be aware, there is no research evidence that notched sound therapy works for tinnitus frequencies higher than 13,000Hz.
      Sleeping with the notched white noise in either situation works well by additionally providing masking. Tinnitus relief with notched sound therapy usually takes weeks to months."

    This does not sound like it’s *removing* those specific frequencies, it sounds like it is playing ONLY that band of frequencies. How do we identify the option where our tinnitus frequency has actually been removed? The sound of my tinnitus kind of matches up with the sound of what you’re calling the 6000 Hz notching, but since I can plainly hear the frequency in the recording whatever is being removed is not my frequency. So how do we use this?

    • @fauquierent
      @fauquierent  28 днів тому

      The sound DOES have the specific frequencies removed. You can confirm by having the sound analyzed with a sound spectrum analyzer or checked by an audio plot spectrum.

    • @MrKentaroMotoPI
      @MrKentaroMotoPI Рік тому +7

      If your tinnitus frequency is 9300, then theoretically, you should just play the 9000 and 9500. Your brain will add the tinnitus sound to fill in the notch and get a white noise sound it liked. Then, when you turn off the sound, your brain will hopefully turn off the tinnitus.

    What is the approximate volume level we should be listening to this at?

    • @MrKentaroMotoPI
      @MrKentaroMotoPI Рік тому +8

      Based on their theory, it should be the same volume as the tinnitus sound. With that said, the white noise has a much wider spectrum than the tinnitus. The average sound would need to be significantly higher. I've been playing it at music levels to start with.

    Note to myself:
    2000 Hz vaguely more unpleasant than my brain's version of noise
    2500 Hz helped at first, but stopped feeling good after a few moments
    3000 Hz felt like relief when it started, began hurting my ears after a few seconds
    3500 Hz is unpleasant in a different way than my normal ringing. Like hitting a different brain spot somehow?
    4000 Hz ...meh.
    4500 Hz pretty good when it came on, gives me a different whistling sound tho. Level of relief changes based on my phone angle?
    5000 Hz different whistling noise than normal :/
    (Damn the more i focus on this the more unpleasant hearing anything at all feels. I got this playing at the lowest volume possible)
    5500 Hz makes me hear 3 different ringing sounds yay
    6000 Hz less unpleasant again, sounds kinda like being underwater?
    6500 Hz relieves for a moment but by now my ear's own white noise is getting louder and pulsing
    7000 Hz only slightly worse than no sound at all
    7500 Hz different than 7000Hz but neither feels "better"
    (I really want to stop doing this but I'm afraid to miss "my" frequency at the end)
    8000 & 8500 Hz idk anymore, at least it doesn't make me feel actively worse
    9000 Hz adds the tiniest pinprick of pain in my brain
    9500 Hz reminds me of the sawing of cicadas. Feels too loud even at theblowest possible volume.
    10.000 Hz not instantly worse at least
    Conclusion: my own static / ringing is kinda pleasant or soothing in comparasion to all of these.
    I feel worse than before now.

    Didn't do anything for me. All notched frequencies sounded identical - rather like different qualities of heavy rainfall. Probably pure-tone Sine-wave would have a better chance. This white noise reminds me of TRT the American designed tinnitus retraining therapy that had to be set at a lower volume than one's apparent tinnitus and the masking devices worn at least 8 hours a day and could take up to 2 years for the effect to be noticeable in reducing one's tinnitus. I tried it once in 1996 and lost patience with it as life was too short to cope with the irritation of noise in my ears added to tinnitus. The American Tinnitus Association ATA was claiming to be working to find a cure for Tinnitus by the year 2000. Here we are 23 years on and they still haven't. There's no free lunch and lots of what is out there is "snake oil". Sad but true.

    • @lazk
      @lazk 2 роки тому +9

      I had success with this method but not with this video specifically. Keep in mind that youtube cuts everything above 10 kHz. I'm a musician, I could measure roughly where is my ringing frequency with an EQ on white noise. It was around 12-14 kHz. Then I applied the cut in that frequency. Listened to that for 10-20 mins a couple of times and the next morning I realized that the tinnitus is gone. You could try too with free softwares like audacity or demo versions of any DAWs and VSTs. Generate white noise, add an EQ, make a spike boost, move that spike where it sounds similar to yours then make a negative spike. Match the gain with your sound and there you go.
