S&W 22A-1 Back From Repair: Mixed Results
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- Initial failure to fire on second shot, failure to eject, failure to fire on fourth shot, failure to feed on sixth shot. Fires full mag of CCI Velocitor without issue, fires 3 mags of M-22 without issue. I will see how it runs. Thanks again to Smith and Wesson for their "no questions asked" service, free shipping and fast turn around. Despite its failings the 22A-1 is still a fun gun to shoot. Thanks for watching. I made a video on the fix for these guns. The barrel gets hammered forward over time causing light strike misfires.
Junk ammo is 90% of all .22 problems, I have the same pistol (my second, the 1st being a 4 in model) both are tackdrivers at 25m and any problems have been ammo/ cleaning and oiling issues, I found mine liked to run "wet" and clean, also giving your feed ramp a good polish will improve things dramatically.
Thanks for that info. I am done using that M-22 ammo. Shot the last of it today dialing in the Holo Sight.
Im alway fkn with mine and it gets dirty quick. I actually had a lot of success by dremmeling the mag well and mag release to allow clearance from grips. Also the spring on the slide release
I've trained shooting marksman with the 22a's and almost 90% the errors were with the ammo. It doesn't help that the mag has a really loose spring and awkward loading mechanism. The combination makes for a lot of squib loads and misfires.
I had to repair mine and got it back.It done about like yours then I put some lube on it and it does fine now.I like it.The problem with mine was the ammo , Parts and labor cost me $20.00.
I ran into similar issues with Winchester M22 in my M&P 15-22. I had a hand full of rounds fail to fire and eject. It ran Federal Bulk and CCI Tactical fine. I know other owners of M&P 15-22 haven't had any issues.
The Winchester shells seem to have a decent enough firing pin strike on the rims, Id be inclined to blame the ammo seeing the Velocitor worked fine... Iv used CCI standard velocity RN and CCI subsonic HP in my semi auto rifles and club pistols and I cant remember ever having a miss fire, they certainly make some excellent ammo :-)
Having the same problems. Sent it for repair today. Took a month just to get a shipping label. Will see if it works when Ai get it back.
I am highly unsatisfied with my 22a1. Sent back for repair with same issue. I don't want a gun that needs special ammo, just one that works. This one does not.
Might also be helpful to clean and polish the feed ramp.
I gave it a lick a while back but I could really go after it till it looks like a mirror.
Glad to here you got it back.Hopefully it was just some bad ammo.Glad to see S&W took good care of you!!
I bought the beez speed loader and in the directions it says to spray a little lube on the bullets to help load magazine better because of a wax lube that is kinda sticky I guess. The reason I bring this up is because my 22a rarely jams now having just a little bit of lube on the bullets this does make cleaning a bit more extensive but I had the same problems and now it shoots great ...just a thought
Nice video. I have one of these with about 400 rounds. It jams and got progressively worst, event with the CCI loads. I am starting to really question the quality of this gun, and my faith in S&M fire arms.
My a1 has same issue. Mine will run thunderbolts or cci all day long tho
Sweet look on your 22A, how did you polish it? That would make a seriously cool video to make!
I wouldn'y shoot M-22 if I was on a deserted island.
So you required repairs after 3000 rounds?
I just sent mine off barley got 100 thru it I think it's a crock of bull shid how long did it take to get back if don't mind me asking
Greg Flaugher Can't remember exactly (vid is 3 years ago) but it was faster than I thought it would be. Glad I sold it though. Never matched my Ruger for accuracy or reliability...but then again you get what you pay for.
Where did you get your holster? I want one.
SAW is shooting themselves in the foot by putting a gun with built in problems on the market. I was disappointed that SAW did not replace the barrel which is the part the extractor claw is wearing...but I guess once it wears all the way through and makes the gun a hazard to operate I can send it in again.
Obviously it’s ammo related failure
These Winchester X is total crap
Aguila is fine ammo too.
could it be that the ammo your using is wearing out some parts and might not be the gun it self i have heard about types of ammo not to use in some gun types, but S&W could have done a better job on the repair for sure if i whas repairing that piece well that's not my validation maybe they where to quick on that repair
The pin strike is enough to fire the round
Winchester M-22 is JUNK, I say JUNK!!!
The paper work said new bolt
More to add I've only shot 50 shots in 4 years.
Ruger MKIII
All .22 rifles and pistols are notorius for malfunction unless the gun is cleaned well and is constantly lubricated, As near as I can see your gun does not look clean or well lubricated enough, your high velocity ammo was able to push thru but eventually your gun will get dirtier and you will experience the same problems
Not if you buy quality rifles and pistols
Then you must have a fucked up book
You had hard strikes on junk ammo.
m22 is junk walmart special
+Black Heart I was lucky to find any .22 ammo at all. Now it's impossible. I never see it on the shelves there.
