This is unbelievable and absolutely a historic moment. I inherited my late father’s gun collection which is all hunting based. All pre 64 Winchesters from Model 70’s to 88’s. Shotguns and rifles. Some modern some not. But the most prized and priceless to me is the Thompson Hawken kit he built in the early 70’s. Every time I pick that Hawken up I feel my dad right there. It’s not worth much money wise but I wouldn’t part with it for a million.
So beautiful.... I've had two of my Thompson Contender videos go viral, I'm proud to help spread the word! Every person who asks, I let them know Thompson Center is BACK. Can't beat Thompson Center. You'll have to fight me if you disagree.
I forever wanted an TCR Aristocrat I think they are just "it" as it comes to a classy single shot. I had opportunity to buy a 243 and I didn't buy it. Still wonder if I made the right choice.
TC was responsible for the largest part of the reintroduction of civilian type of MLs in the 20th Century. I bought my first in 1979. It was a .45 Cal. Seneca, which I then sold to replace with a .45 Cal. Hawken. It won many prizes for me at my Club shoots over the years. I eventually bought a replacement drop in Green Mountain 33", .45 Cal. barrel. I also refinished the Black Walnut stock with linseed oil and added some brass headed tacks for some tasteful adornment. Using .440 round balls and .018 - .020 lubed patches, that rifle served me very well for decades. Thanks to TC Arms, I built some rifles and a Trade Gun myself, and started to collect and shoot other muzzle loaders from Uberti, Pietta, Pedersoli, Euroarms, and others. I also got into black powder cartridge breech loading rifles and pistols. Thank you TC for getting me started in my favorite all time sport, competitive ML target shooting.
My used Contender was new to me in 1996. I have 9 barrels now... 22 lr, .223 Rem, 25acp, 30 Tokarev, 357, 9mm...and a few more up to 45 col 31:33 t. Great look at T/C 1 of a kind history.
Love this ! I have my late dad's .45 Seneca . It's been a safe queen since he passed in 2004. He never killed anything w/ it & neither have I, but it might be time to change that. I also have a Contender w/ 3 barrels, 7-30 Waters, .44 mag & .22 lr match grade. I hunt deer now exclusively w/ the .44. Up until 4 yrs. ago , I used my .50 TC Omega 50. cal for about 20 yrs. . So happy to see TC coming back.
FOUR... Hawkin, Encore, TCR and the falling block!! that's all you need. later you can bring back the contender....but please try to repair all five off the block. THANK YOU AGAIN for bringing TC back to NH~!!!
Cant wait toll they start shipping i haven't been this excited for a long time! I say eventually bring them all back! My uncle had a tcr and would love to have a tcr83, he said that might be something they do and i hope so id be all over it. With all the gin companies that jave been bought up by conglomerates and destroyed its awesome to see one come roaring back to life. Its nice to see gun people running the company and not bean counters.
I used to go into FoxRidge outfitters all the time. Fly tying on Thursdays? Anyway, the TC custom shop always surprised me with the quality of wood! Thanks for the video!
always wanted a TCR83 but finance at the time were tight. Now, if you bring them back I will be in line to buy one with spare barrels.... Also bring back TC Venture magazines please.
I'm not sure if it has been confirmed by anyone yet, but seeing that contender made me decide to ask here. Are you going to be bringing the contender back? It would also be nice to see that scout handgun come back as well, maybe even the 20 gauge barrel for it as well, lol.
I always thought the Scouts were the nicest looking muzzle loaders out there. Always wanted a pistol and carbine of that model. As well as an encore or contender set.
Super cool stuff! I have a couple TC's. A Hawkin 54 cal, and an Encore with 5 barrels. Can't wait for factory options like barrels and furniture to become available again.
I have a TC Hawkin, and parts are hard to come by. The only disappointment is that that lock spring is junk. It's a coiled spring around a very thin pin bar, instead of a traditional Z lock spring. But it's a straight shooter and I love it.
Great video Greg, I have several family members that used to work for TC back in the day including my father. Hearing the names mentioned in this video brings back memories of My Dad telling stories of these people he used to work with. My Father did wood finishing I believe mainly on the Hawkin Rifles and my father and and I believe my uncle made the muzzlloader used in the movie Jeremiah Johnson . I do know my Dad spent several hours on the wood on that rifle. Anyways this stuff is so cool. If you ever find any of those guns that have initials W A with the A being the lower part of the W I would love to see on a future video. That would be my father. I have yet to ever find one out in circulation, but hopefully one day I might. Again thank you for bringing TC back
What a great video. I appreciate historical guns. I just inherited a Thompson Contender in .410/.45 long Colt from my father. It is an amazing gun with all the Interchangeable barrels. I can't imagine the excitement to hold a one of a kind gun that was never released to the market. Wow.
Extremely cool! It is absolutely amazing that T/C has been resurrected from the dead. The falling block should be the number one priority, in all the popular calibers. You'll sell a bunch of those, for sure.
I just went back to school. I had no idea some of these even existed, and I'm 56. Thank you so much for this video. I can't wait to walk through the not yet built museum.
Im even happier that the custom grip i carved for my encore pro hunter is keeping with tc tradition. Not as nice as those stocks but better that the rubber!
I’ve been looking for a break action 30-06 forever and I never knew about the tcr 83 or 87! I’d love to see the tcr 87 come back that would be amazing!
I have never owned a TC, but I was captivated by your story. I really appreciate your stewardship of the TC history. I can’t wait to see what you bring to market.
This was actually very enjoyable to watch. It was honestly more exciting listening to y'all talk about the history of all these rare firearms and see you shoot them at the end then all of the countless videos of people playing around with more modern firearms. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Would have LOVED to see that 20 gauge barrel in action... i kept hoping for it from the time it appeared but the video timeline wasn't heading in that direction. Maybe another time? I mean, SURELY another time, yes? hmm? yes?
Thompson-Center used to be the 'gold standard' in mass produced, traditional style muzzleloading rifles. You wanted a reasonably priced, well made quality muzzleloading rifle; Thompson-Center was certainly one of the top manufacturers. I had a Thompson-Center 'Renegade' rifle in .54 caliber which I sold and have always regretted selling that rifle. Not as 'pretty' as the Hawken but a dependable accurate muzzleloading rifle. Wish they would bring back the classic traditional style muzzleloading rifles.
Thank You for the very well presented Historical Journey into the Archives of Thompson/Center, WOW. As a Gun Guy and a Single Shot FanBoy, that falling block stirs my desires like few have. In a HeartBeat, but hurry, I'm 73 !!!!!
What an incredible video. As a Spaulding Red Raider graduate in 1976 and remembering TC's place in Rochester, NH, the designs are top notch. What a gun company, with leadership and skilled craftsman. Thank you Art for sharing your knowledge and OGS.
Wow, i need that scout rifle. Plz bring back the old school black powder arms !!! Great video and what a lucky man you are to hold those iconic pieces of history.
I have a Marine buddy from up in NH who loved TC Contenders. The last time that I saw him in 87 he had 40+ barrels and reloaded for most everyone. His name was Ed Payson.
I bought a used TC Hawken 50 cal several months ago. Wood isn’t the greatest, but it’s a Hawken. Old style blade front sight. I can’t wait to get my hands on a new Hawken. Thanks Greg! Start shipping those over to WA state.

Them are so amazing pieces and it’s great to see them and someone who cherishes them as well. Also love your enthusiasm when you take them out to shoot.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful history. You need to go ahead and start planning out a TC Museum so that you can put all of this on display for the people to enjoy. Thanks so much for all the work you are doing with TC and I really look forward to you bringing back some of this to production.
Truly amazing the engineering that T/C put into these guns. Its sad the the Falling Block rifle was never released. Perhaps the Falling Block could be reintroduced. Years ago I had a T/C Hawken "Kit rifle" that my friend put together. He put a 36" 54 cal Green River barrel on it (it was an absolute cannon). It was at that time the Cadillac of traditional muzzle loaders. Only downside of the 36" barrel was it didn't work well in brushy areas due to the barrel length.
I love how you are open to bring back classic gun for production. I still have my scout rifle, the best handling muzzleloader ever, but horrible to clean. My Hawkins 54 was purchased in the early 90's, fantastic!! I really need a TC Icon magazine in 243..... God Bless America 🇺🇸
I need more 370 gr Maxi balls, in origonal design( not the round nosed version ). I hope these are in future sales and marketing plans. Thank you for bringing T/C back.
I sure hope there’s someone is standing around off camera with some good oily rags for when Y’all get through putting fingerprints on these pieces of Art! Fantastic video Greg!!!

That falling block needs to be put in to production and made available. 👍❤💯
Agreed 110%
The design doesn’t look as compact and streamlined as a Ruger No 1 or Dakota 10.
You got that right good friend…👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@fanbatcher Yet it may be superior to both.
@@hillbillyscholar8126I seriously doubt that . A Dakota model 10 is a $6-8,000 gun and No 1 s are a perfected design
Can’t wait for the encore to start shipping….put a stop to the price gouging that’s going on now. Thanks Greg for bringing back a legend.
Agreed! Hopefully the new prices are reasonable
Heck yeah let's get the party
Started. I have always wanted but couldn't afford.
@@russellpickett2689What is reasonable? They will be made in an outdated factory in small numbers.
PLEEEEEEEZ bring back that falling block, of course the TCR is very cool too. Fun episode, look forward to more.

I love my TC Hawkin also. Bought it for 200.00 but wouldn't sell it for the world!
Greg I own an Encore. I'm glad to see you being able to buy and bring TC back to life
Make the falling block!!!!! Please Please Please!
I love the falling block. I have always loved the Ruger, but I never knew T/C made one.
I could never get the cash together for a Ruger #one. Be great if T/C could would the falling block.
It was never sold.
