Since I always had and kept the extra gravy, this makes perfect sense. The dairy version froze well. This one should, too.
I bet I could make inch around veggie latkes as the kofta.

This was fantastic. I didn't have whole spices but did have them in ground form. Toasted them quickly before adding the onion. It worked well. Hubby said "this is restaurant quality". He didn't know that was part of the title. So worth making this recipe.

Malai Kofta is one of my all-time favorite Indian dishes. Whenever I go to an Indian buffet (I like the variety, what can I say!?), I will call ahead to see if they're serving Malai Kofta. I've somewhat recently gone vegan, and certainly haven't been to a buffet during the pandemic, and I was missing good, no, amazing, Indian food. So when I saw this video and read the recipe, I knew I had to try it. And although it does require some serious prep and cooking time, this recipe did NOT disappoint! Wow. Amazing! My taste buds were having a party in my mouth! It's best to eat this fresh, but leftovers can be good as well. Thank you for sharing your amazing recipe, knowledge, and love for amazing vegan food with your growing audience.

Malai kofta veganised and Bake the koftas instead of deep frying. There's No reason to push making one of my favourite dishes of my past life (i am not technically a vegan, but paneer and malai don't exist in my present 'perfect' tense) in their fantabulous Avatar. Thanks for trying out baking koftas and sharing this precious nugget of wisdom.

My favorite food in the whole world is Indian food. I don’t eat meat and I try to stay away from dairy which makes me intolerably nauseous. I am also life threateningly allergic to a few fruits and wheat. After having given up so many foods that I love due to my allergies and intolerances, I have found great joy in Indian food dishes without meat and made with chickpea flour instead of wheat. When I travel the first thing I look for is Indian food! I have literally actually cried from joy when I discovered an Indian food restaurant lol 😂. That said, Malai Kofta is hands down my favorite dish. If I had to pick a last meal, that would be it. Recently all the Indian food restaurants I have found use wheat flour in their kofta. Im not exaggerating when I say I almost died after having taken a huge bite of one kofta that had been made with wheat despite having spoken to the chef before ordering. Every time I eat out I’m taking a major risk that someone will not fully grasp the seriousness of my allergy. I’ve recently just given up trying to eat many of the foods that I adore due to fear of exposure to allergens. So to see your post about how to make a vegan kofta…. I actually ran to my husband clapping and squealing with joy. It’s my mission to make this dish. THANK YOU for sharing! I’ve been watching your videos and it’s my plan to purchase your book. When every day eating is not only a challenge because of being vegetarian but also involves whether I will go to the ER, I just get so grateful to be able to get recipes like this and cook a meal that I love and am safe eating. Again thank you! You have no idea.. really. ❤❤❤❤❤

I spent the weekend making this dish, and it turned out so well! The flavour is so complex and filled with umami. The only thing I changed is that I added a teaspoon of sugar to the sauce at the end because my batch ended up a little bitter. Your step-by -step guide on your blog was so helpful (and needed!). I used extra-firm tofu because that's all I could find, and your instructions for that worked perfectly.
I'm coming from a different perspective than most people; I live with chronic pain AND I'm a perfectionist lol, and while the end result was a real treat, I can't see myself ever going through the work of making this again. I WILL, however, be ordering this dish for the table for everyone to try when I can safely go the restaurant with my family again, because this is a really unique and special dish and I'm so glad I got to try my hand at it.

Love, love, love your food! Indian food is my favorite. I wonder if we could put the kofta in the air fryer if we wanted an alternative to frying in oil. It works amazingly well with potato wedges, making them super crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. Hmmmm, , ,

I made this and the recipe works. The koftas were also good the next day as a protein rich snack warmed up in the air fryer: crispy outside, soft inside. (We'd scoffed all the sauce.) Nyom nyom! Thank you very much for this recipe. Please do more Indian recipes: living in France I really miss UK Indian restaurants.
