Great video! Subscribed. one question though... I'm just starting out with composing for media. I love Ableton, but been recommended not to use it as it's not great for working with video. So why do you use it? and how do you get around that?
Thanks! 🙏 Yea, I have been thinking on doing a video on the subject. It is a bit tricky, and if you are doing primarily classical composing, I would probably use a different DAW like Cubase or Logic, since it works a lot better with video. But if you are making more electronic music with a lot of experimentation, then I would always choose Ableton, I personally just think the musical exploration possibilities of Ableton is unmatched. Ableton does not have support for SMPTE, so if you want your music to hit a specific spot in the video, then you have to manually edit the bpm to make it fit. It takes a lot of effort, especially when Logic can just do it all for you very fast. But for me, I don’t always try to make the music fit the scene specifically so it hits all the markers, anyway. It can get a little cartoonish quickly. Just make some great music that fits the feeling of the scene, then the sound designer can make the final adjustments 🎼🙏 I hope the answer helps a little! But I don’t personally know of any hacks with working with video in Ableton, and I don’t think there are any. Hopefully Ableton gets SMPTE support in the future though! 😅
@@mickiewriedt Thanks for your answer Mickie. Still plan to use Ableton for other music creation but yes, wish they'd bring in the SMPTE. Keep up the great work!
Hey! you can also press cmd on the keyboard while youre drawing automations, so you dont have to deselect the grid scale, this way the automation is straightaway smooth and not boxy :)
well done, informative interesting & entertaining I appreciate the style of this educational video. Mickie is very enjoyable to learn with 'know what I mean?'

for midi overdub you only need to click the + button next to the record button!
Underrated channel
The + button next to rec button is the midi overdub, no need to go into the menu bar

well done bro, like your style. consider me subscribed 👍
good video but I feel like all of these are very basic and some are already kind of outdated with ableton 12 (mainly the sharps/flats thing)
