Fun fact, Matthew Lillard (the actor who played shaggy) would go on to voice Shaggy in future animated Scooby Doo shows/movies after Casey Kasem passed away. Honestly he fits shaggy quite well
oh damn, I Was just thinking how spot on his voice was, nice to know that.
After I watched this movie I always realize the times that he played Shaggy in cartoons and movies
No shit
He even voiced Shaggy before Casey passed away. Many episodes of Mystery Incorporated had Casey Kasem guest star, while Lillard retained the role of Shaggy.
he was even a murderer!
You must admit, Matthew Lillard is perfect for Shaggy, honestly the casting was pretty good
And he took over the voice work when Casey Kasem retired. This was the smartest move the franchise ever made outside of a couple good animated D2V
18:14 His crotch guard was guarded by a horse.
Will Forte was TERRIBLE as Shaggy! Matthew Lillard and all the other Shaggy Voice we're actually Shaggy like, but Will Forte did not do that good of a job in SCOOB!
Well, at least its not as bad as the writing for the modern cartoon network series.
@@baylorwuzhere oh God, I literally just looked up a clip and my god

I gotta say, love or hate the movie; the Scooby-Doo museum was pretty cool.
i would love to go to it in real life
You can see the same thing in the Mystery Inc. and, if I'm not mistaken, a few more Scooby-Doo movies|series, most of which would be better then this movie in addition.
is it wrong that I laugh when I hear Mathew Lillard shout "YOU'RE PUSHIN YA LUCK SCOOB"
I think most people can at least agree on that.
I wish there was a Scooby doo museum in the Warner bros studio tour just like the one in monsters unleased
For the record, Scooby's full name being Scoobert didn't originate from this movie. That was a thing in the cartoons.

Dan Eyal I agree. the movie does have creative details.
Yeah, but too bad it was in the background.
They should remake this one and make improve the many flaws in the movie.

Better than putting them on a tropical island. Because that's what you think of with Scooby Doo, right? Lol

21:01 Never in my life did i know that there was an end credits scene in this movie
Well you were lucky.
I actually remember this...
What a twist
I only found out the last time I watched the movie back in march. It was on netflix and i didnt turn it off so i let the credits roll through and was shocked when i saw that scene come up
You guys know what's really funny about the end credits scene?
The first time i saw it i was about nine or so and so i had the VHS tape so i watched it while playing around then when it got to it the credits stopped and that scene came and it scared me so badly i ran out of the room screaming and crying XD
The “weakest point” joke was actually pretty clever. The “nut shot” may be cliche, but they wrote it in a way that I didn’t see coming when I first watched it. The “round tables” line still makes me chuckle xD
RIP Peter Boyle btw.
Shaggy only using three percent of his power to make himself look like a girl and buff

Best part of the video
things that would have helped improve the movie:
1) Patrick would be revealed to be the son of Jonathan Jacobo (the Pterodactyl Ghost)
2) Daphne over hears the news lady begging her producers to let her continue covering the story instead of the masked man just showing up.
3) Cut our the musical number
4) fix the delivery for the jokes
I’d also probably throw in a few more iconic monsters, they had a bar full of the old enemies of Mystery Inc so why not have all of them get kidnapped by their own respective monsters and brought to the mine as a way to frame all of them for Jacobo’s crimes that way Mystery Inc saving them could explain why they’re suddenly ok with them at the end
Or they could've made the news lady the child of Jacob. Would make a wonderful revenge story.
When I saw that picture of Jacobo in the picture in the classroom standing next to the red headed kid, I thought the boy was Patrick. So I too thought he was supposed to Jonathan’s son. I mean, him wearing those glasses does make him look like him. Why was there even a secret hatch in the museum? It only makes sense for Patrick to be the villain.
@@ryanstauffer119 I think Patrick was a student of Jacobo.
@@Blokewood3 And yet, Patrick never mentions this in the movie
I liked this movie as a kid but it was really because of the monsters in it. It gave us a bunch of monsters all in one movie instead of just one throughout the whole thing.
Yeah, and it really helped that they were monsters from the actual show.
The guy who played Gus did a spot on impression.

Monte Cornette Maybe he just cut and pasted a wiki page.
I honestly love Psych
I love how he did not mention scooby wearing Daphne’s boots
He should have said "Those so don't match that sweater."
@@hydrokineticpowerhouse Yeah! I'm not into fashion (I'm wearing a Deadpool shirt with pink sweatpants), but even I can see those don't go together.
Having the monsters come from the original show comeback as the actual entities and going after the gang at once, the forest chase sequence, and the characters disguised as the monsters in the original show making an appearance made it a particular favourite of mine as a kid.
Not gonna lie, the "You're pushing your luck, Scoob!" Gag got a good laugh out of me.
I laughed at the scene where Scooby and Shaggy are trying to barricade the door without realising that the Black Knight Ghost already entered the room (who then proceeded to give them a chair to help them).
Me too, shame that this movie could have been so much better if they got rid of Raj. Seriously, the plot this time was actually pretty good just executed poorly.
I liked the way the line was delivered
That was the only time I laughed during the whole movie.
This is why this movie is more disappointing that the first. The first never had a chance, this one comes close to being good and is why it hurts more. There are legitimately funny lines in this movie and Matthew Lillard is great as shaggy (hence why he does the voice now). The plot is very clever and had tons of potential. As it is, the movie still isn't horrible, it's just not good either. The immature humor ruins it (fart, boob, and burp jokes weren't even funny to me as a kid and just made it awkward to watch with family).

I still think she was the HOTTEST Velma there was.
MrDEMarq she was, but Velma was always gay-coded, and they just orally ignored that fact. She should have been the unattainably hot lesbian, not the 1990’s-era secretly-hot-nerd cliche.
@@GoatPopsicle Were there moments in the series where she actually showed to be lesbian?
@@GoatPopsicle STFU, Velma has literally always been shown as straight. I watched almost every episode, and I can not think of a single time when she was even implied to be lesbian. Also, she is not supposed to be attractive.

just remember that this film was released 3-4 years after LOTR , this gives you an idea as to how lazy the special effects are
Actually, it was 1 year after Return of the King. And the first one came out the same year as Two Towers, so the filmmakers have even less of an excuse.
Okay but something tells me this movie didn't get the same budget LOTR got.

Yep. I was four when this came out my mom had it on tape now I have the DVD. Love this movie!
Born in '92. This is my favorite Scooby Doo movie apart from Zombie Island.
I’m 30 and still love it.
Also, Miner 49er isn't a pirate...he's a miner
Itsaluigi I bet he knew that but to be fair at first I thought it was a pirate too.
He was also from 1949 or 1849. Not 1749 or 1649.
He's also played by the guy who played that janitor from The mystery begins.
He was one of the guys that went to California in 1849 to get at the gold rush.
I know that he is a miner cuz one he looks like one and also I've watched the old Scooby Doo episodes on VHS
Malcolm just jumps at every chance to dance on camera, doesn't he?
How could you blame him with moves as smooth as his ?
and wearing drag don't forget the drag
You know what we really need? Critic to review the late '90s Scooby Doo movies: Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, and Alien Invasion (maybe Cyber Chase). Those movies (especially Zombie Island) got the whole throwback satire thing right.
Down the fact that all the monsters were Real monsters, and not guys in costumes. Defeating the purpose of the entire show, that there's no such thing as real monsters.
DAMIEN MILLS
The monsters actually were pretty scary in these movies, unlike the ones from the original show which seemed to be designed for laughs more than actually spookiness.
The cat zombies from Zombie Island actually scared me, and I first watched the show before the movies. The Witch's Ghost scared the shit out of me with the Hex Girls, who are also really damn hot!!
Zombie Island was the best

no it was not. this was one of the shities episode long time
As bad as this movie is, I felt like this movie was better than the original Scooby-Doo movie. The characters were nicer to each other and actually acted like the real characters, the mystery was more of a mystery, the action was cool, and it just felt like a better adaptation in general. The original cartoons were fun, but let's face it, we always knew it was the creepy people of the episode behind the mask. Plus, these movies' successes reinvigorated the franchise, leading to more adaptations than ever. So yeah, the movies are crap. But they're good guilty pleasure movies.
Yep. This is the best one out of the scooby doo live action movies. I haven't watched the movies for a couple years ago. I wonder if they're good.
true i actually like the 2nd one because theirs lots of movies like this that stink but we grow up with
I'll agree to that. I really don't like the first movie at all but this one is... cute. It pokes fun at the original show without insulting it (something the first movie did that I didn't like) and some of the jokes and references are funny and clever. It feels like the people behind it actually cared at least a little about what they were doing, which I felt the first one didn't.
It's look like Inspector Gadget 2, which they also made in the same style of cartoon, with a bumbling protagonist and Dr. Claw on the shadows. So I always wonder why the producers only do a faithful adaptation of cartoons in sequels and not in the first movie as well.
the silent hill sequel didn't stray far from the games and of course the bay produced ninja turtle sequel also tried to be more faithful to the cartoon, so yeah, people flip their shit on how bad/differant the 1st one is and hollywod knee jerk respnds by having the sequel be more faithful, UNFORTUNETLY first impressions still count and the sequel inevitibly does worse because everyone hated the first one
Had studios done it right the first time these'd all be big hits from the get go, fucking morons
The Psych homage was amazing!

Nate that's probably the only good thing in this movie
It's legitimately about the only time I've remotely enjoyed Matthew Lillard's performance.
If JonTron was in a video with James, I wonder how a Game Grump video with Doug would work.
John Doe Yeah that was a thing. Although it wasn't an AGVN video.
Andres Trevizo I think Doug would be a complete grump wondering why he's sitting on the couch, right next to Arin and his 100s of chins
James Kilduff Yep. I never said it was a good thing.
People would yell at Doug for not taking off the hover boots.
Have you ever seen "Qualitytime.avi"? LIke that.
Funny how the end credit scene in this movie is completely useless and irrelevant now
Ben McDonald Ik
I mean not that useless, if you own a GBA and a copy of the game, you could still use this code, there's not much use for it, because not many people are gonna be currently playing Scooby Doo 2 for the fucking Game Boy Advance. And they could just look it online. But, this scene is still useful, but...not much need for it anymore.
Crimson Doodlebear Don't forget the "taboo" emulations, but then again who would emulate a game like that?

Why does Velma have a love interest in BOTH films ?
Agree. I always though she never showed attraction to anyone because there wasn't anyone that was as smart as her on the show.
When a character is not shown to be in a relationship, everyone tends to think they are gay, rather than any number of much more likely explanations.
A form of matter maybe other people can read between the lines instead of making excuses for her not being gay.
lol being gay is not a likely explanation? It's usually one of the most common ones in real life
JESS MOO Yes, because as we all know, it is impossible for a straight person to just not be interested in dating at the moment, or just not knowing anyone who is their type.
I am not saying that being gay is particularly rare, but given that there are other explanations that are perfectly legitimate and common, I am just saying that there is not enough evidence to make much of a case one way or the other.
NC better be thankful that The mighty Shaggy Rogers allows him to review the Scooby Doo movies.

Actually, isn't it the show where you can almost immediately pick out the villain withing seconds of them walking onscreen?
tommy karrick
At least the animated movies(which are the good ones) knew this and instead gave us real monsters, no stupid fake outs.
And Mystery Inc. series actually decided to give a real mystery: One that takes episodes long to solve
Reminds me of the Samurai Sword one. Where the humans DID dress up as monsters for reasons but then they release the evil samurai spirit who goes rogue. So a mix of the two.
I have no idea why some people are angry at the lack of actual monsters. It was a mystery cartoon, so of course they were going to solve the problem. A story with actual monsters in it is only good as a highlight thing once in a while. If they were always monsters, there wouldn't be much of a mystory to it, so much as a monster hunt, and the scooby doo crew isn't really designed for monster hunting. Instead it was someone cleverly taking advantage of the tools available, and you the viewer had to figure out how and who....well, sometimes. Other times the excuses for how someone faked being a monster are pure bs. But the idea that it was a puzzle is still there.

well he did not die from the fire fart he died when the switch was turned on along with the remaining 3 monsters the pterodactyl ghost died when he went the tar monster the scuba diver died when he was flicked into the water and the electric ghost and the knight ghosts were destroyed by the explosion so the skeleton men know 1 the tar monster and the bald zombie died along with the miner
Well, in theory that sounds kinda cool, but it was poorly executed. Besides, its like blowing up a fart on the pope, you just don't do it! ='(
yeah i wish the creeper was in the film instead of that bald thing with the red eyes what monster did you wish was in the film instead of one of the monsters in the film proper
I'd love to have the space kook, he was awesome! =D
i thought it was 69er
10:37 This is 2004...Another between the legs joke!
Critic the ghost that breathing fire wasn't a pirate ghost in the movie it's the miner 49er
well in their defense he does look pirate-y
And the Tar Monster is made out of well tar not oil.
Honestly I thought it was a pirate too and do u guys honestly care?
Yeah, who cares?
+JMtheSmartAlic +crono nostalgia thats why
Why does the Pokemon thing still work? Doug has done the "I'm just going to say that Pokemon sucks to piss people off!" joke so often by now, and you still see comments being either offended or agreeing with him.
Why do people (both Pokemon fans and haters) still care about this?
Well because after he reviewed "Pokemon (The First Movie)" he admitted he never seen Pokemon before and he was getting fed up of people requesting him to review the movie.
That's exactly why he said it too. People are so predictable.
Logan Palmer
I know. I'm just wondering why people still react to it at all and throw fuel into the fire.
People just don't like negative opinions, it either bums them out or piss them off. They look up to the nostalgia critic and tried to give him something to review for something they thought he would enjoy, but disappointingly they didn't know that he WASN'T into pokemon.
Even so people this is the internet, people will use the internet to vent frustrations.
because it's fun.
21:03 I'm suprised the critic never mentioned how the GBA is outdated at this point.
THEY NEVER CUT THE END SCENE OUT OF THE BLU RAY VERSION (yes there is a BluRay version of BOTH Scooby Doo movies and sadly I own it)
Lmao pure laziness I love it
The scene speaks for itself.
Well there is a blu ray version of Street Fighter the movie, so I am not suprised that there is also a blu ray version of.... ANYTHING ELSE!
I mean really the only thing worst than that would be Dragonball Evolution on blu ray
There is a blu-ray Dragonball Evolution.
I'd seen this movie about a dozen times as a kid and I didn't even know that scene existed.
I think Scooby-Doo having a full name was revealed before this movie.
Please review Cool Cat Saves The Kids
then daddy derek will take down his channel
+Dance Water Dance You mean that loser who did the same thing to the others in the past?
+Dance Water Dance Critic will get Devil Boner to take out Daddy Derek
Please God PLEASE
Why? Everyone already reviewed it. It's lazy to review this after it was done by everyone.
Wait, if they can add the Tasmanian devil as a normal cartoon character, couldn't they have just done that with Scooby? Sure, it might not have made much sense to have a random cartoon character in a live action setting. But at least it would have looked better.
Actually, a thought just occurred to me, wouldn't a who framed Roger Rabbit esque film with the cartoon cast of scooby-doo going around the live action world solving mysteries be cool as fuck? It would probably have to take place in the world of Roger Rabbit to make sense to an larger aundinces without looking like a concept rip-off. But I really like the thought none the less.
Lucky Star Look up "The Scooby-Doo Project" on UA-cam. That's very similar to what you're proposing, and it is awesome.
@@DecepticonDonkeyKong was just about to recommend that
@@AceMan800 It just looks like regular Scooby with realistic eyes, kinda like the Pokemon in detective pikachu
Doing an entirely 2D Scooby Doo cartoon character probably would've been way more expensive than simply using the computer model they made for the movie (or reusing from the first movie, I suppose).
Honestly, the best thing about this movie is that it brought a lot of monsters from the cartoon to life. Sure they didn't look the best, but it was kind of cool just seeing them. Now if only it was written better and better actors, then this probably would've been a great tribute to Scooby-Doo.
Yea the plot seemed like an exciting idea but the delivery was lacking.
But shaggy looked like shaggy
Scobby doo was the problem
CGI Scooby Doo sucks
With a better direction, this film could’ve been a great love letter to the fans
You: Scooby doo 2
Me, an intellectual: The Solve It Squad
Yes!
Psych references... of all places, Psych references... my favorite show of all time, on the Nostalgia Critic. One of, if not THE MOST, underrated show ever!
That show was awesome, lasted a pretty long while too and I got into it 3 years into it's run.
+SkyTech RTS Seasons 2-5 are the best ones anyway. Especially 3.
I love psych. I actually really like the last 3 seasons for some reason. Probably because I was always pulling for Jules and Shawn. but the whole show was fucking golden.
Matthew Pennella Suuuuck iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit ^3^

Velma from this god awfull movie is also the voice of Wendy from Gravity Falls? WHAT THE FU-?
Asylum117 I can't hear it
Asylum117 😐 well, good actors can be in bad movies.
Science and Music *coughscarlettjohansoncough*
well Dipper's VA jason ritter was in freddy vs jason
Wait? Wasn't Grunkle Stan's VA in Freddy vs Jason?
Who else went back to the skits scenes to see if Jules actually did the stuff in the explaination at the end?
atomic Z me
Me too. I saw the notepad one, though
Me
Yup
Yeah I'm glad they did that in the skits and not only in the flashback
I honestly didn't know Alicia Silverstone was the Villian of this movie when i was younger and saw this on tv. But then again I didn't even know who she was and I never saw the full movie or any parts of it with her in a scene.
that's a problem with a lot of his reviews, he knows more film triva and stuff like it then other people so then he acts like you should know it and think it's bad because something happened that was similar to another movie in any way
15:37 When you know that's from everybody loves Raymond...

Loved the Psych spoff ahahahahah I love that series to death, but you guys were on point!
I think this film would’ve been different if Gunn had more creative freedom.
Actually, the filming person being part of the mystery made sense. When the reporter is talking to Daphine and the "evil guy" appears on the roof, the filming guy is missing (even though he was in the scene right before that)
during the roof scene he was the guy on the roof so its sorta like scream two different killers or this case evil monster makers
We understand that, the reason it makes no sense is because they don't build him at all. He's in the background, never really speaks or does anything, then suddenly he is also the villain? If your meant to put that together based off the one time he is missing, its just lazy. Sure you can decide that knowing the reporter is the villain but its still rather lazy.
Honestly, he got as much "build" as any other villain in the movie (they all got pretty much none).
d😒nt help this film
@@Jabatemanjrits "lazy" to have a subtle character in play that does get mentioned directly and reappears multiple times so that way they can make an appearance of the main villian to throw people off from the villian? There is no argument it was lazy, it was a good twist that makes sense if you think about the logistics of the reporter being the badguy, one van and coworkers, he's gonna notice if his coworker dissappears, and they won't want someone they can't trust inside the van with there equipment
uhm, honestly I actually liked the monsters, they were real-ish and I loved them when I was younger.... so yeah
Nostalgia Critic acknowledge the existence of Egoraptor, OMG!
Why wouldn't he? After all, Egoraptor was the one who taught him and Rob in the arts of Walken and Goldblum.
...Though, Egoraptor's easily the punchline these days. You can probably guess why.
+GaiaX5 why?
They've done a panel at Shadocon together, it's still floating around on UA-cam.
Years after he's dead though :(
I literally spit water on my computer screen when I find out that Velma actress is Hawkeye wife
Wait the person who played Velma also voiced Wendy???
+Ice HighWind Gravity Falls
Yes, she also was on Freaks and Geeks and the second Avengers
Yep. :) This is how I know her. lol
Oh god, please tell me Bill isn't in Coolsville
And she voiced a character in Mystery Incorporated.
Don't you mean Scooby Two?
Or Scooby Deux (I am so sorry)
+Taurus Magma I love bad puns.
....you're awesome!
Yeah, it's a shame wi didn't get Tran2formers, Transform3rs, or Trans4mers.
And we're STILL not getting Tran5formers!
Not like it would've improved the films, anyway.
And if they make a Despicable Me 3 they should call it Despicable Three
This movie scared the Fudge out of me when I was a kid
Adderz it bringed me nightmares (still remember one to this day. Gives me the creeps)
Yeah, that electricity monster and the goop dude were terrifying as a little bab.
Same here
I did not like the hunchback green guy
