I am considering getting a scanner and this is exactly the type of video that I have been looking for. Your explanation from setting up the film into the scanner, to using the software was very informative. I will be sure to reference back to these related videos later.

Thank you for the excellent review. I bought this to scan an old collection of negatives I got from my father. I have 2 questions. 1. Can the scanner be opened once the noise stops but it still says it's processing (I assume to apply color corrections etc.)? 2. Is there a good solution for scanning 110 negatives?

Im glad you like it 😃 once its done scanning and just processing, you can safely open the scanner :) as to 110 film, if you are able to lay it flat it can be scanned but as for film holders, i dont think there are any made for this scanner. You can try cutting an opening out from thicker paper and laying it on the film edges to keep it flat when the scanner is closed and it should do the job. Thats what i do for 4x5 film on this scanner. Lay it flat and scan to halves and then connect them in lightroom :)

I have had good success scanning 35mm and 120. Is it possible to scan 127 roll negatives with the v600? Guess I could go old school and use my mirrorless. Darktable

You can scan anything with it as long as you get the film to lay flat :) i even scan large format with it :)

Have you used this scanner with the Epson software?

i use the software for regular documents but i don't think it scans transparencies there... unless you are talking about some other software still that i am not aware of much :)

Using pc and V600, with MS 10, 64 bit. Can not find any solutions to get them to communicate. Open the Epson software, box comes up says not available or something along that. Have looked at a dozen videos, and none address this issue. Can't scan anything if they down talk to each other. Epson website is useless. Thanks for any feed back.

yes, sometimes some weird faults come up... my solution would be to uninstall anything related and see if the computer finds its own files to install the scanner after connecting. you can go into scanners and choose "add a device" or something like that and see if it installs from there. after that, do a test scan if the regular scanner connects and works. when it does, then install silverfast and try scanning negatives. i installed it on windows and on mac many times to many computers and laptops and never had any issues. unfortunately or luckily. i wish you luck with geting it to run :)

JPG is a good "distribution" format. It should never be used for image "aquisition." Use TIF for scanning (aquisition).

yes, that is true as well. if i just scan to have what the software gives me then i scan in JPG. if i want to edit everything myself then i choose TIF for more data :)
