I have my first roll of film in it, and i just wasn't sure if i loaded the film properly or not but didn't want to risk ruining the film and seeing, that the button on the left also rotates is a game changer. i checked immediately and it does rotate, so all good. Will be back to for tips on how to remove the film without ruining it 😃
Your creativity is next level!
Thank you 😃 im glad you like it 😃 share the video and spread the love 😃
Thank you🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Excellent! Thank you!

Kiedyś można było go odwiedzić w jego pracowni i porozmawiać o fotografii nie odmówili nikomu, niestety dziś już to niemożliwe. Szkoda wielka postać, niestety mało popularna w świecie algorytmów.
To ciekawe. Nie wiedziałem :) no w internecie w rankingach się nie pojawia. Ja znalazłem tylko dlatego, że ktoś w komentarzu polecił :)
This is great! The video will surely make me a little more confident to use my Vilia Auto.
i'm glad i could help! :D
Just got a rebel 2000 today and wow......this is so much easier than a manual vintage camera LOL Great video.
Glad it helped! 😃
I just got mine from EBay. Apparently my meter doesn’t work, so I have to use an app to measure light and set my settings. Another thing I quickly found out: it’s not actually a rangefinder camera. You can’t focus by looking through the viewfinder. You have to guess the distance of the subject to set the focus appropriately.
Oops! Nevermind! I see the very faint focusing dot now.
Yes, it has a rangefinder but for that price and size of camera, its not the greatest one out there ;p the mechanism in many cameras needs a good service to have good visibility on that tiny patch. But its still a great little pocket rangefinder 😃
You can use the camera without the little plastic insert you’ll have more fun. Before you close it up you take the little metal foil from around the 120 film and squeeze it down along side, the unused film to keep it tight as it draws across. This will keep your film more light tight when you go to take the film out of the camera after you shot it. Yeah again you’re getting that film all bunched up on one side because you don’t have the foil in on the other side.
Good to know :) yes there can be interesting to shoot without the plastic frame inserts 😃
I must say your explanations for the flash controls makes so much sense. Thank you so much for making this video.
You're very welcome! 😃
Great video! Just a few days ago ordered a Zenith ET and I cannot wait to get it!🙏🏼
Hope you enjoy it!
this was extremely extremely helpful ! thank you
Glad it was helpful! :D
Audio is very poor on this one
im sorry for that. had to use a different microphone. testing some to see. and sometimes i can't record in a perfect spot so that adds to the complexity.
Is the scan app only compatible in macbook or in android laptops too?, ive seened that most people scan their negatives in macbook with epson v600
i don't know about android laptops. i know it works on mac and windows.
@grainificent great! Thankyou!!💓
Youre welcome! 😃
Hi! I found this model of camera in a relatives house when clearing it out. I am unsure if it is working properly and was wondering what the best way to test if it is functioning okay? Would you reccomend buying a roll of film and taking pictures then getting them developed? Also i was wondering how I can tell when the battery is finished? Thanks so much for any advice you have/can give. Great video so helpful
if the battery is dead, the camera will not work in automatic mode (set to A). but when using any manual mode, the shutter should work even without the battery. I don't really know how long the battery lasts in there. the manual for the camera says to replace the battery once a year. but as soon as A mode doesn't work, thats when i would replace it :)
First time using a film camera, rewound my film with the back of the camera open in broad daylight and found out the hard way why that is so bad once my prints came back 🤦🏻♂️
mistakes are there so we can learn from them ;P
Hi, nice video ! At 3:23 you forgot the last of the loop, the multiple exposure (up to 9 🙂) I love this camera, probably not the fastest AF but good enough - and it takes all the EOS lenses. But my favourite body is the AL-1 , I don't know why the AE-1(P) is so trendy... Cheers and thank you for the video, it's always nice to watch this instead of reading the booklet 🙂
Yes, you are right! i somehow forgot to include it in the video even though i had it recorded... o well, mistakes happen :) it is a great camera! AL-1 and AE-1 cameras are also good :) trends come and go :)
Is it necessary to lock the camera everytime i rest from shooting? Or I can leave it
not a must, but you risk changing some settings, accidentally taking photos and the battery will die faster
does this camera have flash? i was looking for an analog camera that has a flash, but this minolta series somehow caught my interest....
nope, this is a completely mechanical camera :) but you can always buy an attachable external flash :)
I wonder if Minolta survives as an autonomous unit within Sony and is now the source of Sony's excellent still cameras?
I once heard someone say that inside every sony camera is a happy minolta 🤣 something like that ;p
Thank you for the information, this camera is full of little tricks and getting the film in and out of the camera needed your advice.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, not seen this camera before. Have a Cosmic 35 / Smena 8 which, when stopped down, produces good images.
Yeah there are many similar cameras from those times 😃
great video but the battery needed is ( and clearly labelled on the bottom of the camera ) a silver oxyde type. putting a lithium one may result in bad light mesure or/and bad film exposure...
Maybe and not really :) although there can be very minimal differences, the mamiya 645 does not have a built in light meter. Thats extra if you have the light meter prism attachment. My negatives never had any problems with exposure and i ran the battery dry till the camera stopped working :) but im not a pro that can differentiate a 1/3 EV potential difference in exposure :)
I shoot with a lot of cameras, including Leicas! My opinion is this lil shucker is an absolutely L killer!
Maybe not a killer but surely a beauty! 😃
A friend of mine saw this camera in Georgia and asked if I’d want one. I bought for around 35USD. Im so excited to use it!
Great little camera! just remember to keep it in complete darkness when not in use so your meter lives longer :)
@ it came in with a leather bag and a lens cap. I guess the light meter still works because the line in the viewfinder still moves according to the light it gets as well as the automatic aperture control.
thats great. I do a little review of this camera in a video in 2 days and show the photos mine took :) stay tuned to take a look :)
What you describe as a flash port is not, it's the port for a cable for the shutter release. These are great cameras. I had one for about 10 years and really liked it. In fact I liked It so much I'm toying with the idea of picking one up again just for the hell of it, now that I'm getting back into film photography.
Thanks for sharing! its funny, cause i didn't know what it was and couldn't find a manual at the time and i connected a flash there and it worked xp should it had? ;P now i found out it was marketed in the USA as x-370n so in that manual it does say its a shutter release port... too bad youtube doesnt allow adding text to videos....
Great video thank you! I just got mine and this was really helpful :)
i'm glad i could help! :D wish you lots of great photos! :D
Great video. My first "real" camera was the Minolta X700. Love it. It still works. And I have the Minolta TC-1, just gorgeous!
Very cool! I wish to play around with a TC-1 one day! :D i don't remember what my fist camera was ;P my first "real" slr probably would be the X-300s, but my first film camera would probably be a budweiser beer can shaped camera in the good old days when funny cameras liked to come out ;P
Very informative. Excellent selection of photographs
thank you! :D i always try my best :D
When do you know the battery is empty?
The camera doesnt work without the battery :)
i have also found in the manual: "When the batteries ar enearly exhausted, the mode LED ("A" or "M") in the viewfinder blinks to warn that new batteries will soon be needed."
Thank you so much, I’m completely new to the camera hobby and this is a life saver. I can’t wait to try using film for the first time!
Glad it was helpful! Good Luck! :D
Hello! Where would you insert color correction filters?
i talk about it at 08:30 :) its that drawer above the negative holder :)
@@grainificent Oh thank you! I don't know how I missed it. 😅😅
no problem :D i'm here to help :D
Seems to me that if you enable negadoctor the exposure / contrast adjustments would automatically flip in other modules. Also when I select Black and White film stock it shouldn't still have color adjustments unless you're converting color film and why wouldn't you just do that step in the Monochrome module...
this was a simple tutorial to get you started :) there are a lot of ways you can edit negatives in Darktable. its always good to experiment and check out what each slider does :)
Thanks so much for this video! I know nothing about cameras but think this will be a fun one to get, and once I have it I will save this videos to follow along all your instructions for setting up!!
yes, it is a fun little film camera! :D i wish you lots of fun taking photos! :D
Im having a hard time understanding what the DOF preview is. When it is engaged what should I be seeing in the viewfinder? It doesn't appear to change
Depth of field preview is rarely used by anyone. It should show you what will be in focus other than the point at which you focused. You should see things changing the more you close your aperture. It gets darker but more is in focus in the viewfinder. On most cameras this works after you advance your shutter :)
Thanks! I found this camera at my mom's house, and now I realize that we own an automatic camera 🤯
Have fun using it! 😃
OMG mine was working well, i put a film, it got stuck and now the shutter is not working anhymore !! help
it is strange. the shutter should work even without the battery. try rewinding the film and taking it out. (remember the amount of shots taken on it). check if everything works without the film, if it does, reload the film and take the amount of shots you had taken +1 just to be safe with the lens cover on, aperture closed as much as possible and covering the lens with your want, best with the battery out so it takes the shots at 1/500s. after this if all goes good, put the battery in and continue shooting. if the camera doesnt work without the film in it, there can be a deeper problem that will require servicing...
Thanks for the video! The black and white instruction manual the Electro comes with only goes so far 😅
I'm glad i could help! :D
I haven't been using my film camera for over a year. I didn't remember how to rewind film. So I lost some pictures of the last film i've used. Then, when I put a new film I was storing for ages (film is extra expensive in my country), my shutter wasn't working anymore (srt 202). After some trial and error, I lost probably most my film in this haha! Have no idea how many clicks I have left, and it isn't rewinding.
sorry to hear. is the rewind knob turning when you are advancing the film? if its not, then its not advancing. if it doesn't want to rewind, it is best to open the camera in complete darkness and remove the film. if there isn't much film on the pick up spool, you can most likely reuse it in a different camera (after skipping through the frames that might have been exposed in this one). if there was a lot of film on the pick up spool then give it for developing and decide from there if the images are usable or not due to camera problems.
Did you find it hard to focus shooting wide open?
I rarely shoot wide open. I prefer f8-f16 range but on 40mm at 1.4 if the subject is 2m away (~6.5ft) you have a 20cm depth of field (~8in). If you are shooting close up at 1m (3.3ft) that falls to 5cm (~2in) at this point it would be difficult even with a stationary subject.
@ thanks for clarifying!
you're welcome! :D
Thank you for this review. Do you have a video for slides and photos using the V600?
No, sorry, not yet, but there will be for sure one day :) remember to subscribe so you dont miss it 😃
This is the best video explaining this camera. It is my first ever medium format camera. Thanks for this sir.
Glad it was helpful!
What do you think about Robert Frank? 😃
i have the same one, i was just about to make a video on it too haha, yours likely has the same problem as most of these that the selenium light meter died due to constant light exposure or just old age. beautiful little camera.
Nope, this one is kept mint condition in the box so the meter works perfectly well :) i will show that in another video :)
@@grainificent thats amazing actually!
Yes it is :)
Thank you!
Thank you as well! 😃
This is by far the best and most detailed explanation I have seen about this. I would just like to add one small detail: after inserting both spools with the film attached, it is a good option to turn the rewind knob a few turns clockwise to eliminate the slack, regain tension and ensure that the film It will advance correctly. Thanks for the video, greetings.
Thank you very much! you are correct, it is always great to put some tension in there!
I think you would find making videos much easier if you did not film your self and we would be all greatful too
thank you for the tip. i have been experimenting with different styles of this type of videos. i will give it a try :)
