First time seeing this channel today. Proper cracked me up. Will def be watching more getting some tips for my own channel. My dream to retire and do some traveling taking pictures like u guys
@@brumtownvloggers these videos with Adam Gibbs in there are some of the best! They are halirous when they get together. I watch both their channels religiously but Gavin's channel is the only UA-cam channel I don't mind watching "re-runs" of. If you ask me though, I'd like to see a Impractical Jokers spoof with Gavin, Adam and Thomas for the best shot. - I'd hate to be the loser at the end of the show though... (you're welcome Gavin, get on it and make it happen now.)
I'm sure I'm late to this but here goes anyway...The breeze is literally created by the sun's warmth. As the sun warms the land (soil and rocks) the land warms the air just above it which rises and pulls in cooler denser air from nearby, hey presto - breeze created! In mountains the effect is compounded by the high bare slopes. The mountain sides are warmed first with early light and being mostly bare rock they warm quickly. The air around the slopes begins to rise quickly, sucking in cooler air from lower down (the pond and valley) so the effect seems to come on like a switch at times. And it come dissipate just as fast when the sun goes down and the air temps stabilize.
The sun heats areas differentially causing changes in air pressure. This causes air movement - high pressure flowing to low. Uneven heating is often more pronounced near bodies of water. Wonderful video of a "perfect" landscape morning!
OH MY those shots are gorgeous!! I don’t care if they are considered “low hanging fruit” not everybody gets that shot because they’re not there under those conditions. You truly did justice to that stunning scenery, those shots are dreamy!❤️🥰
The sun comes up and the thermal differential causes that wind. The wind is essentially a biproduct of warm air and cool ground. When the air is warm and humid and there's snow on the ground thats when fog usually happens. meteorology and landscape photography go hand and hand for me. :) More vids like this!!!
My simple understanding of this phenomena is that Sun hits air/ground, causes change of temperature and that causes the air to start moving. I once winnessed this over a ridge, at noon, as the sun rays "folded" over the ridge into the valey, for 15 minutes, wind picked up and clouds swent moving from one side of the mountain to the other, once those 15 minutes passed, whiteout settled back in and visibility was all but gone. It was quite an experience.
Catching up on some fototripper ( 2months worth) and comedic duo of you and grumpy has had me crying with laughter! I'm 36 laughing at 2 blokes farting, it's like an obscure real life version of Terrence and Philip (South park reference).
This channel is turning into my favorite comedy show lately. When I go to a remote location I download your videos and just watch them when I have no connection. Thanks a lot for bringing on the good vibes! Hope to see you on the road someday :) Or maybe jam!
If Carlsberg did photography shoots they would be just like this one !! Outstanding location, light and shots !! Great to also see Uncle G back for the usual banta !! The reflections disappeared due to the change in barometer pressure from Grumpaciousfarticus
The wind usually picks up after sunrise because the sun heats the ground and the air close to the ground which caused it to rise. This then causes the cooler air aloft to fall down to replace the risen air. Hence the cool breeze... Another class video Gavin 👍🏻👍🏻
Pressure rises when air gets heated up. Cooler air has lower pressure. Air always wants to equal pressure like a balloon when you release the air inside. This behavior creates movement we call wind.
@@pixelgenau2982 Sorry, you're completely wrong there. When the air is warmed by the ground, it expands at essentially the same pressure - the pressure at any point in the atmosphere is simply the weight of the column of air above that point. As soon as it expands even slightly it becomes less dense than the surrounding air and so it rises. At which point surrounding air immediately flows in to replace it, hence the breeze.
I've noticed that the less you talk about photography and the more you show about the household, small talk jokes and nature in general, the more I like your videos :)
I am in no need of another UA-cam channel to follow, especially with in-depth and long videos. But here we are, I am subscribed, I'm watching, and I'm enjoying it.
As the sun rises it warms the air sitting on the lake, and that air rises. As the air rises more air comes in from the side to replace it creating a breeze.
*** Regarding breezes when the sun rises, it's because ground heats faster than water, thereby the air above the ground is heating faster than the water above the lake. The air above land then rises (warm air rises, cold sinks), and the air over the water gets sucked in over land to replaced the air that has risen. That's how sea breezes work on a much larger scale.
Those trees and foreground rocks behind you looked stunning in that light, but I can see that it would have been difficult to tear yourself away from the view in front of you. Really enjoyable video
Your dry humor keeps me coming back. Wildlife is my passion. Landscape is nice. But the backpacking and dry humor keep me here and making sure I comment. Hope the algorithm takes you for a ride, Gavin.
Yo, why is this the first I've seen this channel?? I was laughing the whole time!! You guys are having so much fun together. Loved the video and I'm now subscribed 👍🏼
Love all your videos Gavin!! Your style, sense of humor and the crew you hang out with just make for enjoyable viewing. And I must say, you are one lucky dude to have Amanda who compliments every aspect of your videos. Keep up the good work !!!
The sun heats the air making it rise and the cooler air rushes in to fill the void causing a breeze. It can be quite dramatic sometimes, other times mild.
also, yourr question, its because the sun heats up the air, and warm particles move faster than cold particles, so the air suddenly heats up, becomes more active, and moves the water
Love the humor you bring to photography! I went to watch my "Sunday afternoon vlogs" and decided to watch yours first so I could enjoy great photos. and good laughs! Keep it up. It's awesome stuff.
Really a great video, Gavin. So fun to watch and some awesome images along the way. Always nice seeing Adam as well and of course Amanda adds her special touch to all of your videos.
OMG! This was, as usual, a great video Gavin! Besides the "technical" info and the gorgeous photos you make me laugh out loud (multiple times) as you and Grumpy carry on. Thanks for bringing laughs to yet another year in my life of all work and no play. Always look forward to the next one video. Amanda cracks me up as well! Thank you Amanda!
Crazy! I remember dragging my mate up our first day at Canmore after a full day of driving from Vancouver to catch the sunrise. I wanted to shoot at the Rundle Forebay but parking was closed, so ended up heading to Quarry Lake and had amazing fog that morning! Easily one of the best decisions I've made. And only saw one other person and a dog there. Super peaceful.
Dude, sincerely appreciate your channel, great photography along with awesome entertainment. The laughter just makes my day. Sincerely appreciate ya. I know, I know, I need to buy your book... Getting on it...
I only discovered you recently and immediately became addicted to your videos! Photography and humor, what could be better? Nothing. Anyway, I quickly watched them so now I am plugged in for anything new. This video is absolute gold! Keep it up, thank you so much.
Honestly, I smiled throughout this whole video. Thanks for bringing the delight, while also teaching. I'm going through the F4 course right now and experiencing the same thing. Thank you for all of it.
I am glad this is youtube and not smellovision. I am happy someone has gotten some good light, lately, it has been the November gloom in December here.
Omg..what stunning shots you got that morning ❤. I totally understand what you mean about the winds picking up when the sun comes up. Oh and had a giggle at your farts 🤣🤣
Gavin, thank you for existing and sharing this existence with us. Also, great to hear the sound of Canon in this episode. You really should try the R5 :)
This is fantastic! The location and your images are gorgeous. What a team. What an education. What a laugh. You are all absolute stars. Happy Christmas and New Year from this 'grump' here in the UK. Cheers!
Thank You Gavin For dropping the video today, I really needed this .. And WoW Nice shot as always .. Here in Connecticut we have no leaf's on the trees .. Happy Holidays and stay safe ..
I think it's safe to say, you chased it and caught it and thank you for sharing the Awe with us this year. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and safe New Year.
I love it just the chat,s and the banter ! Gavin I think its only fair that you send a copy of Your awesoooom book to the CEO of Fuji ! as a thank you for making you Fuji Canada ambassador.
This is a big call as I adore all your images but I have to say this shoot has produced your best images in a long while ! They say light is everything and by God they are right!!!!
Very fun to watch you all having fun together. Great return on your investment of a 100 meter walk in appropriate footwear! Hopefully, you haven't used up all your "good light" karma for the next year! Beautiful low-hanging fruit, BTW.
I've only just found Gavin's channel. It's an absolute blast. I love the comedy interspersed with genuine passion for the craft. I WILL be ordering a book.
Outstanding light and reflections at this location, reminded me of similar I had last week in the Scottish Highlands, although I wasn’t as lucky with the clouds as you were.. strange to say that as usually there’s always clouds here in Scotland! Love the videos and the banter is always on top form. Keep up the brilliant work.
Did I mention this book? www.fototripper.com/chasing-awe-landscape-photography-book-gavin-hardcastle/
Errr what books that? Who’s it by? Any good? 😊
Any idea how long it usually takes to get to the UK? Wife ordered it for Christmas 3 weeks ago. Keeping my fingers crossed

The "wind" picks up whenever Uncle Grumpy is around, I'm no expert, but it could be a factor.

a catastrophic one?

Terrific series of images! Nothing better than having it all to yourself photographically, along with Amanda and Uncle Gumpton for amusement.
