Consistency for me is the biggest struggle, I noticed when some stressful life situation will happen I would literally abandon all systems, habits sometimes for days to focus on that problem. No idea how to change it:(
Perfection being the enemy of progress. Being realistic and honest yet offering myself grace. I loved the highlight of reviewing, adjusting while remembering that 80% is still so much better than nothing.
My after work routine includes rest and preparation for the next day. I don’t do anything else aside from that. I do however get up early in and the morning for my morning routine
Same, especially working from home, husband working afternoons and evenings until midnight but having my 3yr old with me 24/7 too, my schedule is a hot mess. I don't ever care about a morning routine but I'd love to get my nighttime routine a little more regular and consistent for sure! Agreed
One thing that I found incredibly helpful for identifying patterns was to buy an appointment book instead of a planner. An appointment book is just an hourly weekly layout with each hour split into 15 minute increments. I spent 3 months tracking how I actually spent my time every day and it was really enlightening.
I make things too complicated and then get frustrated when things are going perfectly. I know that I need to simplify and give myself some grace, but it's easier said than done. Loved your video! New subscriber here!
In my case, I was setting high goals and that was setting me up to fail; started really good but then my other habits got in the way, so instead I made the goals easier to achieve and went up in increments. Ex: I set my workouts to 2x a week, if I did 3, that was a win and it felt good. I would put on my workout clothes on and soon as I was done, leave without thinking twice to work out. Bring my workout clothes in the car and drive from work to the gym, etc.
I’m so grateful I found your channel! I’m at a point where my lack of discipline and routine is starting to negatively affect my life in ways I can no longer ignore and I will definitely be utilizing your tips to change this trajectory
How dare you air me out in the 1st 30seconds. Then this books (I’ve read them all) yet I’m still having a hard time. You are cooking with grease!!! Thank you.
My biggest problem is remembering to use my planner. I think my first new habit needs to be making time every day to look at and execute the tasks and habits I write in my planner. If I learn to trust what I have written in the squares, I am more likely to succeed with the tasks, habits, routines, and projects I want to complete. Thank you for this video.
Using my beautiful planner as I watch this 😂 but fr tho - she’s right! As an ADHDer I have - to this day - so many partially used planners bc I couldn’t follow through. No system, just Willie Nilly. For me, a lot of traditional systems don’t work. I get it and they sound good in theory, but consistency is key! …also VERY hard to do for me bc of the ADHD. For my ADHDers - our morning routine is EVERYTHING!!! We need MOMENTUM. Tiny little wins turn into consistent big wins (it’s a dopamine/ reward center thing) Incorporate NO PHONE - scrolling or checking - 1st thing as your 1st step. Take your meds. Make your bed. Drink your drink… take on the rest of your day. Use the momentum to stay on task with results driven action items. Layer this on top of what she’s saying and you will see your days change in a huge way!!
The thing I struggle the most is watching tv in the evening after work. I know that if I give it up, I will have much more free time for others things.
This was the best video I have ever seen when it comes to these kind of topics, I think God sent you to me,, I have been struggling with this issue for years.. Diaka you are the best, Thanks!!!
Thank you! someone had to say it...specially these goal planning planners and membership subscriptions. They don't talk about setting systems and establishing habits.....YES!!!
Diaka, I LOVE your videos! You get down to the main points, without all of the fluff. This video was no exception. I am a planner person, have used planners for years, but this year I have struggled with choosing one. The underlying reason is because I know the planner will not help me reach my goals. I need something more, before I even begin the planning process. This video is exactly what I needed. I’ve taken notes and excited to revisit my current systems and begin implementing changes. Thank you!!!!
I am trying so many different apps to get organized I'm making myself crazy lol. I hear it over and over again about one thing at a time! and sometimes one person presents it in a way that makes you go that's it!!! so thank you
You just addressed my biggest issue with planning - Creating Systems and Execution! I tested/started your Afterwork 2 Minute Drill and tweaked it to fit my life by changing my clothes first then starting the after work routine on days I was extremely tired vs getting to it before changing clothes on days when I had a bit more energy instead of not doing anything on those tiring days. Simply changing clothes would give me the time to decompress.
Your video is great and you have simplified things.. I am not consistent with my current systems and have so much time blindness that I become unmotivated. I've looked at so many planners this week and have used them in the past with poor results. My goals have become so complex because I have so many. I'm going to simplify them into one basic system that will achieve that one and the others will come into focus. Thank you. I will subscribe and look forward to more videos.
Great practical tips! I especially liked test and adjust. We often throw everything to the side instead of making small adjustments to see what works, what sticks. The things we stick with are the things that become autopilot. It’s the getting there. 😊❤
Absolutely great video. I think I’ve been leaning in this direction, but didn’t grasp the full concept as you stated it here. Build the class and we will show up.
Great tips! I am learning to test and adjust-sometimes my days are too full and I just need to adjust without beating myself up. I’m also a recovering perfectionist so this was not easy for me . I just love your content-it’s so practical.
I really enjoyed this video. I never heard of you, but God knew I needed to hear your message... I know that I need a system in place, as I was agonizing over notions & a twelve week year, yada yada yada just last night. My struggle would be how to build my system, but you gave me something to think about start simply. I'm a balls to the walls, girlie, so everything I do.I'm gonna do with one hundred percent, but I think I need to ease into it.... I would definitely like to hear more videos about building the systems
Phenomenal video and 100% accurate. I replayed twice and then took notes. I've read 2 of the 3 books you showed and I just checked out the 3rd from the library. Your examples of reading more and getting healthy are my two priorities for 2025. Thank you for this content. #newsubscriber!
Just found your channel, immediate subscribe. I love your energy. My biggest struggle right now is establishing routines when my schedule is irregular. I work in healthcare and do shift work, typically one week on and one week off, with random weeks that are 4 nights, as well as some random nights here and there. Sometimes I work 7am to 7pm (but occasionally ends up being 8 or 9 some days), sometimes it’s 7pm to 7am, sometimes I have a random 7am to 4pm shift. And then I don’t work for 7 days. Then we start again. I’ve been trying to build systems like “wake up routines” focused on when I wake up instead of morning, with an extended “I’m home today” version, but it’s so hard to stick to those, and I can’t seem to get into a rhythm. The only thing I do I autopilot seems to be snoozing my alarm. Wondering if you’ve encountered this or know anyone who has, and have any advice to offer.
@ thank you responding to my question! my goals at the moment are to create systems to calm the chaos of normal life (home cleanliness, laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc) and allow my home to be a peaceful environment, since that greatly reduces my anxiety. My husband and I share those chores, and while we both have hectic schedules, his is more regular from a circadian standpoint, and it’s allowed him to build the habits for the tasks we’ve agreed are his. Mine, on the other hand, are still chaotic. Once those systems are in place, I plan to look at the time I have beyond that to build exercise into my days, re-engage with my hobbies, and mindfully spend time with my husband.
My biggest planning struggle is pulling apart main goals, slimming them down to a few and THEN creating systems. I’m overly ambitious. Btw, great video with boots to the ground info. Best one yet
This is so helpful and we really need to break it down like this for success. I was so good at doing these things for work, not so much on a personal level. I appreciate you.
I’m retired and I’ve developed so many bad habits. I have been telling myself I need a morning routine but I haven’t truly tried to develop one with consistency. My house is dusty, I join the gym but don’t go, and I spend waaay too much time scrolling and watching videos…etc, etc…. I know not to try to tackle everything at once so I think developing a morning routine would be most beneficial and will set the tone for the rest of the day.
Your thoughtful organization and engaging presentation of this well-known information transformed it into something truly insightful and uplifting. You've inspired me, and I'm thrilled to be your newest subscriber!
Great video and extremely helpful! I plan things to do after work that never happen… I think your point about knowing your patterns, pain points, is so good and made me realize it’s better to not plan certain things to do after work, and it’s better to wake up earlier or even switch them to my days off… better less day but consistent right 🤩 Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video. My problem was trying to complete too many goals at one time. After watching this video, I will plan to create a system to help me lose weight and be in better health. 😊
Thank you so much for the knowledge you’ve shared! This has been the most insightful ‘talk’ on setting Habits! Planners are so popular at this time and influencers push them too-you are so on point that the prettiest planner will not help us succeed unless we have systems in place. My problem: I need to execute all the ‘goals’- by creating systems and not sabotage them.
I’m so glad this was helpful. Yes I agree a pretty planner with no action is just a waste. Thanks for watching check out my last video itctalks about self sabotage!
This is spot on. I was just thinking of starting a new workout plan because my current one is 6 days a week, im feeling burnt out. All i have to do it cut down the days. DUH!😂 Thank you😊😊😊
Awesome video!! My morning routine is great, no concerns my mornings are literally on autopilot up @4:45 am to start my day with exercise, Jesus and Coffee, reading, and a quick tidy up and or putting dinner in the crockpot.. HOWEVER the evenings are not so good, when I get off work @ 4:30 I am usually mentally drained and I don’t have any desire to do anything except relax or watch my favorite shows. I really try to squeeze everything in the mornings so I don’t have much to do when I get off, but sometimes I feel like I am wasting time if I could just maybe dedicate 1 hour after work to my personal goals that would be Ok, but I am so drained mentally after work. Any suggestions and or video would be greatly greatly appreciated 😊 Have a Blessed Sunday!
Taking notes in follow up video ideas! If you have not watched my after work vid check it out but I would atleast get a timer and set 20-30 minutes no tv no phone time. 🥰
Great food for thought and action items. Requests: choosing a single planning and task tool vs. multiple tools to brainstorm, plan, manage tasks, and reflect. I’ve gone back and forth between multiple and single tools, looking for simplicity. But some things just work better for me separately (e.g., Paper planning and journaling to avoid distractions; Apple reminders for quick task capture; pdf/digital planner for searchability, and compact all-in-one planner and journal. )
Thank you so much for sharing a phenomenal video. I’m struggling with trying to do it all, being in the moment and staying consistent. Please share I’m ready to learn.
My struggle has always been thinking through all of the things it takes to get something done or achieved. Even the simplest things…what should I do first when cleaning the kitchen?! Lol. It’s ridiculous. Only God knows how I’m I’ve made it this far!
Thanks so much for this video and excellent advice. My biggest struggles (as an educator) are the seasonal interruptions to my routines (EX: August training and planning for back to school, the winter holidays, the crazy April and May to-dos to finish out the school year). I could have a good system going, but i usually get way off track during these times. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏽 😊
I need to learn how to EMBRACE the unexpected bc… when the boss says such in such is due COB…but ma’am you just told me about it two hours ago😵💫, when the counselor calls and says he just threw up can you come get him…you mean right now?!🤦🏾♀️, when the sorority sister calls…but sis I love you but I really don’t want to chair that event👀👀👀. Lol. I feel like I am organized but when life happens I get upset and shut down. So the workout gets cancelled and then my desire to eat a good meal gets cancelled and then….all the tears 😕 Working on this in 2025🙏🏾 Love your content. It resonates with me.
Great tips. I’ve read the books and bought all the planners. I’ve never made the systems to achieve my goals. Plus my goals were probably unrealistic for that particular time which caused me not to execute.
Great video! ❤ I would love to learn more about overcommitting or having too much planned for the day and only getting a fraction of the tasks done. How can I overcome this? I am productive but sometimes I just have so much to do that I feel overwhelmed.
A template with an example for all algorithm up above. For myself it all has the same value so having a “recipe” these are the ingredients, what amount and when.
Can you advise what music you’re using? I love it! It’s so calming and soothing I would love to listen to it in its entirety. Excellent video, thank you for it 🙏🏾
My biggest planning struggle is trying to do all the things and being overloaded and exhausted. This coming year I’m shifting to be focused on 3 priorities only.
@@DiakaMelendez thanks. I’d love any tips you have too. I’ve heard people talk about systems before, and after watching your video I get it. This video was easy to digest.
It’s a sunrise alarm clock. So the room gradually gets brighter and you can have soundscape wake you up. I love it because it’s not that glaring alarm sound. My husband hates it cause it’s birds lol
read on the toilet. Leave your phone behind and take your book to the bathroom; read 2 pages before going to sleep (you might actually read more than that and it helps you falls asleep); keep the book by the bed...
I have to get up at 2:45 am every morning for work. I have very little time to myself after work due to picking kids up from school and taking them to practices, extra curricular activities, etc. I'm always exhausted and never able to get in bed at a decent time. My goals are weight loss and starting to bible journal. For the last 2 months I have been able to meal prep, but that's all I've been able to implement so far. Any input would help.
My biggest issue is my energy in regards to the desired routine outcome. I am combatting that by dialing back some of the pain medicine I take and working on getting up earlier, but its HARD! I so badly want to be an early bird girl, but my engine just doesn't run till about 10am, then I'm off to the races. So yeah... managing my energy to support the desired routines I want to implement is my issue.
I feel you! When I was a single mom with two kids I picked my one non negotiable which was the gym. You don’t have to have and do it all find the biggest lever for peace. You got this!
My struggle is based in my neurodivergent nervous system, I think. I am both autistic and ADHD, so the autistic part of my mind loves routines and stability and sameness. I feel safe when things are consistent. But my ADHD brain loves change, or it gets bored. Both require me to expend more energy simply getting through my day to stay focused, on schedule, and handle the interpersonal parts of my work. Both are refreshed by the ability to hyperfocus on something I love, both will forget to eat, drink, use the bathroom, sleep, exercise, and other aspects of having a physical body requiring upkeep (particularly with a hypersensitive nervous system), which again requires deliberate attention. I'm learning not to beat myself up when I go off routine but instead ask myself more curiously why, what did my nervous system need at that time that was not being supplied by the routine? How can I make the routine more flexible? I would love if you had some input for those of us who cannot stick to one system, but have to have several depending on fluctuating level of disability and needs.
My biggest struggle is just sticking to one goal when there are several areas of your life that need improvement. (Spiritual walk with Jesus, health, and career)
My biggest planning struggle is being a caregiver for my husband who has Alzheimers, and I'm now responsible for all household repairs that I've never handled before.
That’s such a physical and mental challenge. I watched my mom take care of her husband so I know how hard that is. Be easy on yourself and find small wins!
I’m an empty nester except every other weekend. My mom died the same year my daughter went to college. For me though i leaned in on this additional time as I really don’t have excuses anymore. I say tap in this season to find you!
@ I have been trying I created a grief journal I sell on Amazon. So I have been trying new creative outlets but then I get distracted. Plus I’m a caseworker and I find myself making the excuses. But I have made a commitment to myself that 2025 will look much different. I know it may be late but my condolences 💐. I really like your channel it’s very informative.
What part of creating systems do you all struggle with the most?
I have problem with all

Meal planning. How to create a meal plan where you have similar ingredients so everyday doesn’t have to be this big task.
Perfection being the enemy of progress. Being realistic and honest yet offering myself grace. I loved the highlight of reviewing, adjusting while remembering that 80% is still so much better than nothing.
My biggest struggle is creating an evening routine after working all day. I’m productive but not as consistent as I want to be. Thanks for the video.

Any suggestions and or video would be greatly greatly appreciated 😊 Have a Blessed Sunday!
Taking notes in follow up video ideas! If you have not watched my after work vid check it out but I would atleast get a timer and set 20-30 minutes no tv no phone time. 🥰
I can relate!! The mental fatigue after work is a big challenge for me as well, and then the guilt creeps in after I don’t accomplish what I planned 😢
@ Yes exactly, Totally agree!
Great food for thought and action items.
Requests: choosing a single planning and task tool vs. multiple tools to brainstorm, plan, manage tasks, and reflect. I’ve gone back and forth between multiple and single tools, looking for simplicity. But some things just work better for me separately (e.g., Paper planning and journaling to avoid distractions; Apple reminders for quick task capture; pdf/digital planner for searchability, and compact all-in-one planner and journal. )
My video coming this Sunday us actually about choosing the right tools!
Thank You Soror!
💚🩷
love this!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing a phenomenal video. I’m struggling with trying to do it all, being in the moment and staying consistent. Please share I’m ready to learn.
You got this! I will be taking you guys pain points for my next video!
I struggle most with not starting and talking myself out of if the actions I know I need to take
Been there sometimes doing nothing g feels safer than starting and not succeeding. Start with one tiny habit towards a goal you got this!
My struggle has always been thinking through all of the things it takes to get something done or achieved. Even the simplest things…what should I do first when cleaning the kitchen?! Lol. It’s ridiculous. Only God knows how I’m I’ve made it this far!
So true! When i got out of the mindset of I want it this way to get started i got much better!
You got this! I will be sharing some tools I use this weekend hopefully that helps!
Being a creature of habit keeps be on point…😊
It’s so comforting!
How to handle the unexpected events that create same day or immediate tasks when the day is planned.
Definitely an issue that’s hard to control but I have some tips!
First of all, I felt attacked in the first two minutes. 🤣 Such a good video. Realistic information. I am now a subscriber.😃
lol it’s the truth though glad it was helpful! Thank you for subbing!
I need to learn how to EMBRACE the unexpected bc…
when the boss says such in such is due COB…but ma’am you just told me about it two hours ago😵💫, when the counselor calls and says he just threw up can you come get him…you mean right now?!🤦🏾♀️, when the sorority sister calls…but sis I love you but I really don’t want to chair that event👀👀👀. Lol.
I feel like I am organized but when life happens I get upset and shut down. So the workout gets cancelled and then my desire to eat a good meal gets cancelled and then….all the tears 😕
Working on this in 2025🙏🏾
Love your content. It resonates with me.
Yes lean into knowing that perfection is the enemy of progress! Happy New Year! 🎊
Great tips. I’ve read the books and bought all the planners. I’ve never made the systems to achieve my goals. Plus my goals were probably unrealistic for that particular time which caused me not to execute.
Glad it was helpful! 🥰
Same
New here. Love the way you teach.
Thank you and welcome!
Great video! ❤ I would love to learn more about overcommitting or having too much planned for the day and only getting a fraction of the tasks done. How can I overcome this? I am productive but sometimes I just have so much to do that I feel overwhelmed.
Of course! Let me add this pain point topic to my notes!
@@DiakaMelendez thank you ❤️
My biggest struggle is definitely building the discipline to do it on days I don’t feel like it and I’m no longer feeling as good about myself 😅
Been there for sure! I have a video on discipline as well as motivation on my channel. Happy New Year!
You are so right
A template with an example for all algorithm up above. For myself it all has the same value so having a “recipe” these are the ingredients, what amount and when.
A template on the youtube algorithm?
Can you advise what music you’re using? I love it! It’s so calming and soothing I would love to listen to it in its entirety. Excellent video, thank you for it 🙏🏾
This is music from epidemic sound which is royalty free music for videos. I do listen to the lofi radio kn pandora that has similar music 🥰
The two things I struggle with is evening routine after wit and I lose momentum the last quarter of the year
@@kimberleyschwartz9982 this mornings video addresses this!
Nice plant in the golden-glass vase on the shelf. Where did you get it please?
Good old Ross!
I struggle with planning my classwork and study time. This semester I want to do better with prioritizing and consistency
Such an important goal. Remember to start with the small things then add up! Happy New Year!
My biggest planning struggle is trying to do all the things and being overloaded and exhausted. This coming year I’m shifting to be focused on 3 priorities only.
That sounds amazing and so reasonable.
@@DiakaMelendez thanks. I’d love any tips you have too. I’ve heard people talk about systems before, and after watching your video I get it. This video was easy to digest.
Hey sis. @ 11:47 there is a clock. Can you speak more about it please?
It’s a sunrise alarm clock. So the room gradually gets brighter and you can have soundscape wake you up. I love it because it’s not that glaring alarm sound. My husband hates it cause it’s birds lol
@@DiakaMelendez Thanks sis. Is it also used as a happy lamp? Or just the gradual brightness.
read on the toilet. Leave your phone behind and take your book to the bathroom; read 2 pages before going to sleep (you might actually read more than that and it helps you falls asleep); keep the book by the bed...
The toilet! That’s a solid tip lol!
@@DiakaMelendez Yes...LOL. It works, that's how I got some reading done while going to college and working full time..LOL
Great idea as I’m watching this on the toilet 🚽 😂😂😂
@ I’m telling you it works. Just leave the phone behind where you can’t get it 😝
I know myself too well to read before I go to sleep. I will just-one-more-chapter until 4am.
Yes!!! Finally
I’m finishing up this month with few videos on battling these topics.
The passion planner is of my buy list 😂
I had that one years ago!
I have a video coming up
on this!
Make part of your goals enjoyable. I treak myself to Audible. I read zero books a year. Now I listen to 30 Audible books a year.
Love that!
I struggle with over planning and doing too much at once.
I’ve got a new video coming next week how to build a new routine 🥰
I have two kids and work full time. My pain point is that I don’t feel like my time is my own. What goals can I even have
I feel you! When I was a single mom with two kids I picked my one non negotiable which was the gym. You don’t have to have and do it all find the biggest lever for peace. You got this!
So you were a principal?
Im a middle school teacher 🎉
Love your content!
Educator for almost 25 years!
I’m working on a video on how to build a routine you can stick to I will keep these questions in mind!
You came in HOT with this video!!!! I cosign this message girl!!!!❤🎉
Thank you sis!
My biggest planning struggle is staying consistent.
We all deal with that! Hopefully my next video on follow through uploading this morning helps!
Please give credit to the book Atomic Habits . Paraphrasing yay, but referencing ?
My biggest struggle is just sticking to one goal when there are several areas of your life that need improvement. (Spiritual walk with Jesus, health, and career)
A video is coming at the end of the month on this topic!
My biggest problem is ROUTINES. I have so many excuses as to why I can"t follow routines.
I’ve got a video on this going live tomorrow
My biggest problem is sleep, even CPAP isn’t working properly 😅
Wow have you tried tart cherry juice?
Ever since becoming an empty nester my discipline as been out the window. I have become way more lazy and I can not seem to get back in a rhythm.
As a SAHM I’m super lazy and unmotivated
Want to keep my son home but I don’t feel like I’m mentally prepared for it 😢
Awe I pray you get some clarity. Being a mom alone is a huge task. I’m uploading a video tomorrow that may help.
❤
I learned from Kendra Adachi to manage energy, not time. 😊
Love that
I bought my planner though😅
lol use it as a tool! I live by mine!
No routines!!
I have problem with all
Got it! Is there something you think would be helpful?
I make a great plan and i cant follow it.
I’ve got some good video ideas on addressing that. ☺️
You mean a new notebook won't help😅. Shoot
It is a tool so it has a place 😂
