Great content. For me here’s a protocol/framework that helps me achieve top productivity.
    Stable Strategy:
    1. Slow down (this is about focusing on precision while eliminating distractions).
    2. Simplify: Even if I can’t send a full, detailed response to a key business person, sending a quick, brief acknowledgment is helpful. For example: Thank you for reaching out. I will get the information you need and get back to you by end of business day today-or exactly when you plan to do it. Even an auto response is better than no response.
    3. Structure: Plan my day the night before or at the very least at the best of the day. He who fails to plan plans to fail.
Great books to help you achieve more (faster and better):
    1. Atomic Habits
    2. The Compound Effect
    3. The 12-Week Year
    Any Book by Brian Tracy

I am naturally really fast (always finished tasks in school first, used to finish reading books in 2-3 days or a week if they were over 400 pages, I still type faster than average), but after going through trauma, I became slower. I’m working on getting faster now and focusing. It’s how I feel good, happy and like myself. Idk, just felt like sharing.

Hey, i can recommend you to read the book Letting Go from David Hawkins. I used to be lazy and thought this was just how I am but after reading that book and working with the technique of letting go daily, I realized that I was just in an apathetic state and after working on childhood trauma and releasing many negative emotions I became way more active and joyful in general. Hope that helps!

Thank you. I've been watching plenty of productivity videos on UA-cam, but this is the first time anyone has recommended just being fast! To an overthinking perfectionist like me, it's useful advice. Just lower my quality standards (in less-important things) for the sake of being fast, in order to achieve more. That justification is important, because I'm not going to just rush things unless I remember what I gain from it!

Speed is important. In fact, everything in life is, pretty much a race. And it all started with conception.
However, speed is not always the best way to become successful. Speed is mostly good for success, but when you have to solve a really, really tough problem, speed will work to your disadvantage. What works for me, is to bring the big problem into smaller pieces and be quick with each piece, but to give you the chance to solve the smaller piece quickly. Then when it does not work, then you have time to pivot quickly.
For some jobs, you don't need to be on top of things but buried at the bottom.

So I think they’re two separate areas of work.
For the deep work tasks, it’s slow and steady. But items that don’t need a lot of creativity or can be handled with a single task, take action immediately. So writing a book may be a long term task with slow and steady deep work involved, but you don’t need to waste a lot of time deciding on marketing strategies. Pick something and go with it. Or I want to write a book, should I use Microsoft word or vellum? Are both feasible? Yes, so pick one and just move forward. I think it attacks perfectionism. I really like what she said about completing a task at 80% quality and being done in a day versus taking a week to do it “perfectly.” I really struggle with this so it’s a great reminder

I think it's the old adage of slow is smooth, smooth is fast. When you're learning, you learn form and technique by being deliberate with your learning and actions. As it becomes engrained, you can begin to be fast, which is a huge asset, as someone who moves fast, efficiently, is the most competitive in fast paced high stakes environments (such as war, where the phrase originates). Even in low stakes, slower environments, getting things done quicker is just better as you can accomplish more volume. The trick is not sacrificing quality for speed. If you do a lot of things terribly but do them really fast, they're still not worth much. But 90% quality in 1/3 or less the time is often worth much more than 99% quality.

Thank you for the video. This reminds me of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator which assesses people's personalities. Some people are Judgers while others are perceivers. Judgers love to take action and be in the moment while perceivers love to consider their options. The world tends to favour Judgers more even though they can be workaholics.
I also think another overlooked area of discipline is you have to consider your starting point. It might be easy for certain people to wake up and start taking action if as you've said they're already above average, but what about those people that're below average? For example those coming out of a depressive episode or those with ADHD.
I think in such cases it requires smaller steps and more emphasis on long term sustainability as well as therapy and the right support network.
Also reading books on overcoming procrastination and being more disciplined is helpful as it provides you with the tools you need to tackle those issues as long as you don't get stuck in a loop.

You need to know when to slow down and when to speed up. I believe incorporating mindfulness into your day may have profound effect on your life. I believe one can be mindful and still strive to be successful (however that looks like).
Let's say 'success' to me looks like spending as much time as possible with my kids - going fast at things that don't matter to me that much or not procrastinating means I will be able to spend more time with my kids. Once I am with kids, it's all about being present and enjoying the time.

    • @MarianaKaiser
      @MarianaKaiser  15 днів тому

I agree - know when to go fast (and go fast) but also slow down when it is required. Taking adequate time off from work and recharging, spending time with people that matter and getting enough of quality of sleep are important things to consider. It's a spectrum of things that make one 'successful'. In this video, I highlighted one item but I also tried to stress that there is time to go fast and time to slow down.

It's called business because you are busy doing things. If you have time to do other things, you aren't as busy as the people working 12 hour days 7 days a week.

I agree. I believe there are things that we can do fast (and correct at the same time) and then there is time to slow down and focus on quality. I find lot of people (including me) often spend too much time on items that don't matter that much and/or are unnecessarily postponing taking action. Forcing myself to not avoid taking action (or - move faster) made huge difference to me - without sacrificing quality.

Moving fast is obviously a key component to being successful today
But her approach technique is not that helpful. There’s no real system here. Just move fast and do the best you can. Don’t think that’s very helpful for most people.
