Already made a few mods to my mini z and it is an amazingly capable and controllable machine. Move two batterys to rear where esc is located, drastically helps with weight distribution, grease in shocks really helps with the springiness too and 3mm lights fit in the bumpers with a little trimming
100% agree on Kyosho points. Not owning one yet, I had some worry that the forward and relatively high placement of the heavier AAA's would limit it's sideholding and descent capabilities, but it looks like it doesn't. Also of note: the Kyosho comes with a FULL set of pinions to tune your drive; that's confidence in your driveline. One last thing; the drive "feel" is the most important aspect for me in a tiny truck. Can't wait to own one!
Excellent comparison between the two rigs! One of the best so far showing the capability of both vehicles. I have the SCX24 and I love it. The down side is the radio...it just died one day suddenly. Took it to two repair shops and both came back saying the chip was at fault. The cost of repair is more than a new radio. Gonna get a cheapo esc and use my own radio and see how that goes. Keep up the good work and looking for more comparisons to come!
I don’t know much about RV but after seeing this great review the Kyushu is hands down a million times better. So smooth and controlled. The axial is just to jumpy and empty feeling if that makes sense. I want a Kyushu. It is worth the extra money. Thanks.
Stretch the springs on the scx24 shocks and add some carmex or grease inside the top shock shafts. It raises it Nice and gives it full suspension. You wouldn't have to cut the fenders if you did this. Other wise get some power hobby aluminum adjustable shocks. Add some brass hubs. My Jeep sits awesome. The worm gear creates a natural drag break on the scx 24. The 350mah battery I got with mine runs over 45 min. They are both really nice crawlers.

I don't think so . The Kyosho had the perfect easy route both uphill and down then he took the Axial on some really rough and tough lines . Going downhill was especially strange , he took the far inside line with the Axial which had a high chance of rollover , then he swung the nose-heavy Kyosho way to the outside giving it the best possible line with minimal chance of lifting a tire . I understand they're slightly different scale , 1;24th scale on the Kyosho and about 1;22.5 on the Axial , so he might be babying the Kyosho over lesser obstacles to compensate , but it is what it is .
The axial is slower and smoother than what's shown in this video. He didn't lift the cover on top of the remote to show the switch with different speed ranges. It looks like he was trying to make the axial look bad. Lots of videos that give a much better representation of the axial
I just Learned something new, I didn't know, there is a preload ring on the stock shocks of the 1/24. Look real close, pull that ring in spring Down and it will stay. Now minds not so bouncy, I love them both , but I only have the C10 right now. Just got into it, and they are awesome. Appreciate you sharing, Great video. I'll be watching more , this is the beauty of the hobby !!
Just got one, the gray Toyota 4x4. Out of the box the unit needed adjustment. First, after a couple uses the on/off switch popped further into the control box and became hard to operate. Had to open up the box and put a little bit of foam behind the switch. Second, the unit seemed to be easily hung up by minor obstacles, with the slipper clutch engaging and the motor spinning while the unit doesn't move. Kyosho customer service suggested pushing the main drive gear to seat the bearing. Minor adjustments for hobbyists used to fine tuning their equipment but the product is promoted as "Your First R/C car!" Update: Still getting hung up on the tiniest obstacles, only runs well on a smooth floor. Returning this junk.
I wait to long for this truck.Mini z series is the best. I drive 1/10 scale cars when I try my first mini z a was amazed how smooth and fast was the response in this little cars . The detail in this cars is amazing and the tuning capability is incredibly .

Pickin up the axial today. The only thing I like about the mini is the body. I don't believe any 1/24 r.c. that runs on triple As should cost you 200 bucks. Just my opinion.

I'm getting about 45 minutes run time out of the Axial. That charger that came with didn't work and the truck has been battered about for 3 weeks straight and the servo is giving up. Didn't even look at any others when I got it. That kyosho looks the part 👌
I think most people with the scx24 get about 45 mins continuous run time. I wish the kyosho had a lipo battery and it was more 1/24 scale. I love that body.
Not really a big deal just buy rechargeable triple a batteries and you get around an hour on the kyosho, I'd rather have rechargeable triple As then deal with the crappy axial charger .
I love the Kyosho fazer series rc's, but I really don't think the mini-z is worth twice the money as the Axial. It's quite a bit smaller and I really like the look of the jeep body on the scx24 much better. The mini-z does look smoother but not $100 smoother. The controller on the Axial just feels comfortable too, just the right size, the mini-z controller just looks way too big for such a small crawler. I usually love your videos but I disagree with your comparison here.

Not a proper video with real specs you missed a lot axial has 3 speeds which is a lot better, you almost missed a huge point that the hyosho does not have hex’s to upgrade tires etc you did not give a fair and proper comparison and just because YOU like the hyosho doesn’t mean it’s better how’s this video supposed to help people compare the rcs when you didn’t tell everyone all the pros and cons of each...

Lipo conversions have been done many times on other z models so I think it would be easy enough. I will say that the AAA batteries run about an hour for me.

Just like Jeep vs Toyota in real life. Toyotas feel like an extension of your body. I always feel very connected when driving a Toyota.

I didn't bother modifying the scx24, instead I blew it up with an airbag removed from my BMW. Its in a better place now.

The kyosho looked like it climbed more smoother, finesse climbing. The axial looked like it was brute force that took it up and down.

Lol, if you can adjust a slipper clutch you may want to reconsider this hobby. Like when you had to assemble every part, kits only. Circa 1993. 👍

I got another battery for my scx24 and connected the two in parallel, both still charge individually.
Great comparison, just a few minutes ago I saw a few Kyosho Jimnys with $500+ asking price, which is too much for what it is I guess!
