I never realized that my posture was So bad until I placed surveillance cameras around my house. After seeing myself on camera I noticed what Horrible posture I have which led me to your podcast. Thanks for the Great Videos!
I just discovered this channel, man this guy is great. I also love the fact that he does it with minimal equipment, that puts him above the rest for me!
I am so glad i found your channel!! Your humor is so good that it makes me forget how miserable it is that my posture is making me suffer so much!! Love this! :)
I really like this guy's teaching style! The hands-behind-head resistance exercise is super easy to do at my desk - while keeping abs tight and spine neutral. I've set a timer to remind myself throughout the day to do these and the wall exercises (separate video in his series). Matt, so glad I found you!! Thank you so much!!!! Happy to be a patron via patreon. What a great idea, btw!!
Thank you so much for these videos. I crochet. A lot. I love this creative hobby that I'm trying to turn into a career but it created a dowager's hump and since I'm only 25, it hurt my self esteem. But two months with a back brace and these exercises have made it go down and my neck is becoming more upright. Thank you for your help!
I love how you explained th difference between chin tucks and the exercises you demonstrated. Thirty years ago,I took a series of Alexander lessons and intuitively came to this conclusion. Knowing the *correct* posture doesn't help if you don't have the muscle to support it🙏🌈
Im having hard time for a straight posture especially in my back, sitting/standing straight requires me a great effort, after a minute I just realized that I'm hunchback again
I've been doing careful stretching exercises , laying flat on my bed a few times a day with my head slightly off the bed. It has been helping. Today I started floor exercise on my back with a rolled towel . I'm going to add these gentle exercises as well. I've noticed that my neck doesn't seem as short and I feel a little taller. Trying to be more conscious of my posture all day and doing gentle core body exercises to strengthen my abdomen. Thank you for this video!
Hi, I just discovered your channel and this particular video is a godsend. I have had a tremendous amount of problems recently with hunchback and really hunched neck. I have tried a few things, but this appears to be superb. Again, thank you so much.
This is so informative. I've been using the chin tuck exercise. Taught by my PT. All you've said about it is true LOL. i'm glad i found your vid. It's so helpful. I'll be doing this everyday. This feels so nice. Thank you so much! 🥰
Im 17 and have that ugly lump and i feel like a granny i need help and im gonna try this, like so i can keep u updated! :) Edit - its been like 6 days, I dont see a difference yet but i can definitely feel it, im gonna keep going until i feel like there's a difference x Update - I can feel a difference in my spine, but not behind my neck, maybe im doing it wrong. Updatee - okay so I dont really notice any difference but my mom says so otherwise, she was shook but idk i just dont see it loll🙃 maybe it's just me. Okay so im actually noticing a slight change finalllyy, I'll keep going and let u knoww
Thanks for this helpful video! I went with a cloth band that was easier on the hair and also wide. Feels really good-like the head is being cradled, and at the same time gently exercising the muscles.
Thank you so much!!! Haven't tried them yet, but I have been wondering what I can do to take my head back; I am almost to the point of it going straight forward when I'm not thinking about it. So, I searched online and found you. It all makes sense and I am really going to try these techniques. I am 69 and my head has always gone forward, so I don't know how much I can hope to achieve, but I am certainly going to try!!! Again, THANK YOU!!!
I’ve been going to a chiropractor who is doing similar exercises to this - wish I’d seen this before - I like this one so much better than what I’m being shown there
Thanks for sharing your gifting. I was headed in the right direction, just really needed a little more understanding, RESISTANCE! I have been doing some yoga, yoga trapeze to release the spine, hand weights to strengthen back muscles. All are working, but I needed understanding for the neck muscles. Keep up the great work. Be blessed and stay healthy!
Nice addition, with the resistance band! I've been doing the isometric exercises for a few weeks now - front, back, left, right, diagonally on both sides, and also a "twist" move (hand to jaw, push against as if to turn your head) - to fix a sore spot in my neck and to help my posture. It's a great idea to escalate the resistance by using a band.
I've watched a few vids on cervical spine posture correction today, and I will say yours is like the Half-Blood Prince edition... thanks for the extra tips and knowledge! and for using an inside voice when you're recording 😜
I've alao just found your channel. I had a girlfriend when i was 20 who was a model and insisted I put my shoulders back. She forgot to push me to keep my head aligned as you have, and my head cannot touch the floor with my chin tucked. I also can't look ahead when I paddle my surfboard. I am going to start with the exercises youve shown and in a few months hopefully I will correct my posture. Thanks so much for showing me how! ❤
im bored so im gonna update my results here so yeah😻 im doing results omg even thiugh this was 6 months ago i did do it for quite a whilte like a few couple of weeks and stuff and there was a change in where my back was more straight and my neck was more facing up but that might just be because i was loosinng weight along the way because i worked out for a long while
Thanks Matt, great vid! Definitely something I’ll add to my current physio. Quick question, any chance you might be able to make a video about dos vs donts when training the cervical neck flexors? Ie how to avoid the wrong muscles coming into play instead of the ones were actually trying to strengthen?
I have a slight hunchback and head forward posture. It looks a little mentally challenged and all my life I got scolded for it. I'm 58 and carry my kids on my shoulders all day when walking and even on my bike ( don't do that at home, we can do it but we have learned it). My back is healthy and I can carry my kids all day without tyring. All my friends with straight backs have back pain and the usual back problems. I'm a nurse and all the time someone needs to be mobilized they call me because they heeded all the health advice and now are...ill and can't do it. I think there is more to back health than just looks. PS: a few times in my life I wanted to be a nice boy and tried to walk with s straight back. It always really hurt. Never again. But muscles are key. And most people who have problems and want to listen to 'experts' look for a trick that allows them to live unhealthy and have no problems. There is none.
Literally my neck was creaking everytime i turned my neck. I used to be very fit, but got surgery on my foot and literally rested for 2 years because I was scared of injuring myself again. But lo and behold, you realize that inactivity is even worse than anything else. It's been a journey, about 6 weeks in working out, but i'm finally making some progress. For sure the neck and shoulders are still tight, but im making maaaaad progress and it's time to make that comeback.
Is there someone who can fix hunchback posture completely using these workouts? I'm afraid that I cant fix my own bad posture. I'm 28 and I have big hope I can fix it using these workouts.
Just saw your video thanks for your advise I have this problem but I sleep on my side will do more of the exercises as I'm trying to be more healthy and take care of my body more.
Hey Jello !! Thanks for such a wonderful explanation. Should I use a correction belt along with these exercises for faster results? I have been suffering from these since years . Also how much time will it take to vanish , as in completely ? Also I heard about the liposuction treatment for it . I will be waiting for your comments on this one 🙂
you're so clear and approachable with you information. I have been looking for something to help cause from a lot of computer work I am starting to get this and I am so happy to have found you! Thanks for sharing all this info. hopefully I find success with this. If you see this do you know the time frame it will take to see a change or correction with dowager's hump? thanks!
I think that there is a difference between mere bad posture versus scoliosis (curvature of the spine), where the latter is not so likely to respond to simple remedies of exercise. It is annoying when people just assume that what they see is a simple matter of bad habit. Exercise alone does not cure scoliosis and could be only one part of a more comprehensive treatment plan. If people are not investing in comprehensive treatment, it might be best sometimes just to get off their back a bit about "bad posture".

It's not that you're doing it wrong that lump takes time to get corrected. It is the neck bones get bent downwards you can feel it.
