"The arrival of the white buffalo is like the second coming of Christ, says Floyd Hand, a Sioux medicine man from Pine Ridge, S.D., who was one of the first to make the pilgrimage. It "will bring about purity of mind, body and spirit, and unify all nations, black, red, yellow, and white."
There are countless stories about the White Buffalo, a different tale for every tribe.
"Many years ago, says Tony Ironshell of the Rosebud Sioux tribe in South Dakota, three hunters encountered a white buffalo calf. The white buffalo turned into a woman and instructed the hunters to return to their village and prepare for her arrival. When she came four days later, she carried the sacred pipe. With that pipe she brought Sioux laws, and many things changed. The pipe from the White Buffalo Calfwoman is still kept in South Dakota.
In their ancient White Buffalo Dance, the Fox Indians of Wisconsin shadow the vision of a legendary hunter, who could turn himself into a white buffalo at will after the beast appeared to him in a dream. A white buffalo with red eyes and horns, says the Fox, gave the hunter the power to single-handedly turn back an army of attacking Sioux.

I've heard people slamming his politics throughout the years that wouldn't even give a listen to him, damn his beliefs, this is not about that, Ted wasn't ever awarded what he truly deserved for his playing, the man is a true genius with a Gibson, and my admiration for him playing 50 years clean and sober is something to behold , when so many great talents lost it all because of a lifestyle that didn't have to happen..............Rock on Ted
+fullthrottle827 You took the words right out of my mouth.Well said!!!!!
Bud Wiser probably why Ted supports Trump now, he's a wakeup call from all the strings of the left.
OK, fine, but how I wish Mr. Nugent would give credit to his black American predecessors for the music he's playing! A music that was developed out of the pain of slavery and being segregated and persecuted and lynched afterwards. That's not too much to ask for, is it? To show solidarity with your fellow Americans regardless of their color, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, etc.
SamuraiSamara 69 that's kinda like asking every contemporary rock singer like robert plant or eddie vehler that played music based off the blues to do that. Why can't they just play the music, regardless of their race? Music should not be restricted as to being given credit to a certain group, it's a culmination of human effort in creation. Like it or not, a delta blues Son House track sounds totally different to a Led Zeppelin album. And Ted has shown appreciation, he has praised chuck berry, bo diddley, aretha franklyn, etc
Jesse Kirk great comment 👍👍
Absolutely the most underrated guitar player ever. Good ole Uncle Ted.
This song is a masterpiece. The man playing the Gibson Byrdland is a master guitar player and is second to none. This man is a living legend. In 300 years people will think of him the same way people of today think of Beethoven or Mozart or Bach. No human has ever controlled tone in a guitar better than this man. He can make it cry, or sing like a song bird or growl like a wolf. This man is a guitar virtuoso. He is the motor city madman. This man is Theodore Anthony Nugent.
perfect
Ted at his best, then he went commercial 😢
Couldnt have said it better myself
yeah…well, that’s utter nonsense….
Couldn't have said it better.
Classic 70s guitar shredding. More musical playing from guitar players back then. And more melody because it wasn't only about speed. You built it up and climaxed into the faster parts, with hills and valleys. A lost art of sorts.
Exactly! It was about dynamics and music with a soul to it!
Good
Analogy! Exactly they draw your Emotions in, & build up to the encore,,, its really artistic with an emotional thinf, keeps you on the edge of your seat. But todays shredding, fast isnt playing, just doesn't make any sense to me, theres no Rhythm or Feeling/Soul in todays crazyness.I'm a guitar player of 40 + years, music is about Emotions; Music is the "Universal Language ". Shredding is a phase like Disco. That's my opinion, oh shredding isn't difficult either, it's not musical in any way shape or form. Music is about a emotion shredding proves that people's emotions are crazy & not in toutch with the real art form called music.
It's also an emotional song. That's why it appeals to me. All my favorite songs from any band or singer do that.
You are wrong dude... Ted always had that ego..... Love him or hate him, he is a great guitarist and very under rated....
An Ego is one thing- a bigmouthed bigot is another!
I spent time hanging with Ted after a concert in the early 80's. He was completely down to earth, polite, and fun to hang out with. I used to jam with Johnny Sauter, Ted's bass player on Weekend Warriors.
I don't know that he is under-rated. Not as far as the Classic/Old Rock crowd is concerned... :)
@@TheJackflash85... So then shut the fuck up asshole... how's that skippy?
One of the best performers had to offer in the 70's! kudos to Nugent and all.
Look at his vibrato-this dude had incredible vibrato and is pure greatness on the guitar .
Ah, reminds me of skiing in the mountains of Colorado with my Sony tape player blasting and listening to this great song in the early 80s. I have listened to this song along with Stranglehold at least a thousand times. Thanks Uncle Ted your music is a pleasure in my life.
Ted has always been one of the greatest guitarists in the world. Never got the accolades he deserves. The crazy wild man routine and his politics have hurt him but he doesn’t care.
The thing that always amazed me about his guitar playing is that it is almost effortless. He knows that guitar like you know the back of your hand. He is a virtuoso and so many people will never know it.
Absolutely slamming tone! Nobody could touch it during this era really and the Ted Nugent band was and still are some of the best unsung hero’s of the era period! Say what you will about his politics if you wanna get lost on that subject and loose sight of what an incredible player he was especially with Rob, Derek and Cliff!
there was no Ted Nugent band bye the way
I was there
You Are Right ON
One if the greatest songs and guitarists ever!! I never get tired of listening to this!!
Fucking Awesome!
F@ck, such a talent wasted on this piece of hypocritical, paedophilic shit.
One of the best guitar instrumentals of all time.
Ever seen a Nugent impersonater .. thought so musical genius
Yup definitely on my list which includes players like Al Di Meniola, John Mc McLaughlin , Robert Fripp and Alan Holdsworth. Nothing like straight ahead RnR. :)
Yep for a 2 chord song.
@@michaelbarnard824 actually there are : but not known because Ted's not RANKED into 100 guitar players according to guitar player magazine.
@@michaelbarnard824 Birdman Steve has Nugent's tone down. Twitter Ted Nugent guitar instruction.Actually he returned Ted's stolen Brydland guitar & became friends. Ted gave him the Harold Robbins Custom shop guitar , which Ted traded to Steve. Steve Birdman sounds very close to Nugent's style.Theres really no hard Nugent licks.but Hibernation instrumental is A-G: 2 chords that's it :Yep I heard.Steve lives Ted.! That Brydland was worth like 5xs the price of Harold Roberts If not more.
I saw him twice with this line up. No video can capture the sheer power and brute force of this band. Fantastic. I got to meet him too - and he was really nice and pleasant. Great memories.
Saw this lineup twice too, both in San Antonio, 1976. Fabulously rockin' energy and superb sound!
Best lineup he ever had ~~~ Derek Rob and Clive ~~~The first 3 albums with them are the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!
@@airjrdn1 I really only liked 1 song off weekend warriors - need you bad,but there was a lot of great stuff on state of shock.
I saw this band at Detroit's Pine Knob. Best show I ever saw!
If when you met him he was nice and pleasant, you got him on an off day. I have been to his home in Jackson Mi deer hunting, and he came to our bear camp in the U.P to hunt black bears and shot a really nice one, but most of the time he wasnt nice and pleasant not that i noticed. Still a genuine dude
Who takes a hollow-body jazz instrument and plugs it into 6 Fender dual showman cabinets and cranks it to 10 ? Ted Fking Nugent that's who. The motor City madman, 10 digits of doom, Uncle Ted It's Tonal Tenacity !!!!!!!
Lol Dude u wrote "Madam" not Mad Man ....
Dont forget about the 6 twin reverbs powering those cabs. 24 12'' speakers of high energy awesomeness!
P.S Its awesome seeing you in every videos comment section and good to know that Im not the only one who loves pure rocknroll
great tag.... I'm going to use that..... Ted is Tonal Tenacity, totally! #SmileWhenYouSayDamnYankee
To 11
@@johndvorak5375 Those Fender cabinets are going out on the road this summer. They sound fat.
Got to hand it to him...he can play the shit out of a guitar
Its 2 chord song: lol A&G a monkey could play this.
@@jimkostan9932 Of course you are there also. I bet you can do better!
Nugent is one hell of a guitar player. That's a fact.
Just in case you missed it, that man is playing an electric hollow-body through a wall of Fender combo amps, with only a volume knob & his fingers to control the madness!!! I don't hear any guitar pedals (no wah wah, no delay, no reverb, etc.). At the risk of pissing off millions of You Tubers, I don't think Jimi Hendrix could've pulled this performance off, given the equipment at hand... Just one man's humble opinion...
No Sir - Ted has stated he knew Hendrix and learned a great deal from him!
Ted definitely respected Hendrix’s guitar playing but you definitely said it well. This song pushes the line between music and art. So many emotions. So many stories the mood of each note tells. Hendrix definitely could rock some blues in a dreamy way but I agree with you; this song wouldn’t come out of the feelings of Hendrix’s. Only Ted could truly feel the vibe of this song and rock it.
Those are byrdland guitars!sweet music!
@brownwings00 GO! Show us.
@brownwings00 lmao
Ted Nugent, without qualification, is one of the BEST guitarists ever to grace this EARTH! I have seen him 3 times live, he is a rock GOD!
Ted played the guitar that other musicians looked at and got scared. He played that thing like it was some crazy Hot Rod Gasser that no one wanted to drive. But big Ted gets in and lays rubber all the way down the block.
Nicely put Dina. Ted is 65 now and still cranks out the riffs. I'll always remember this tune. Great guitar play with that big ol' badass Gibson that no one would try to attempt, much less make great heavy rock music !
Alex L. from Rush played a similar Gibson on 'La Villa Strangiato' live (Rush VEVO 10:12) . . . a great tune also.
You know Dina, there never was a guitarist that could carry off a 12 min workout like Hibernation.. I don't think he plays it live so much these days. First time I saw him in London on the 'If It's Too Loud You Are Too Old Tour' .. he certainly did then and of course the immortal and definitive version on Double Live Gonzo was close after. The reason no one else could do a 'Hibernation' is that Ted really feels it and plays his heart out. Inspired stuff and knocks me out as much now as it did then. Yeah, no one else touched a Byrdland lol! No one, couldn't handle it. Hibernation is a staggering and beautifully put together piece, in the days when Ted never mentioned the old hunting business, it was more symbol and metaphor plus awesome attitude. The Double Live Gonzo version is the one that really smashed through the Van Allen belt of guitar work. :-)
WalterJacksonFreeman this is awesome
Dina Walton is absolutely right !!!
Such an underrated guitar genius!
Double Live Gonzo was an outstanding and unforgettable part of my childhood. One side of one of the LPs had only 2 songs on it. Hibernation and Great White Buffalo, I was so lucky to be a child in the 70's. Thank you Ted for being part of my musical inspiration ♥
I have 16 ticket stubs from all his concerts I saved. Seen him all over the Detroit area...high schools...Second Chance in Ann Arbor and Toledo arena..Full Tilt Boogie Ballroom...always right up there in the front. The power..you could FEEL it man, no video can capture that. I miss him during that time...was so fun.
Agreed!
Caught him at House of Blues Disney... right up front at the stage. Bass beats to hard and tight coming out from beneath the stage, it was blowing the legs of my jeans and making them FLAP in synch with the beats!
First album I owned .....State of shock , man o man for 13 years old my taste is and was exquisite!! 53 now , had to watch this AMERICAN MUSICAL PATRIOT, GOD BLESS AMERICA
6:47 I can't even begin to describe how insanely hard it is to make a guitar make that sound while staying in time and not missing a note. It's just amazing
Double live was/ is one of the best live albums, at least in the last century.
Rick Vervoort
The best live album !
WalterJacksonFreeman amen
Rick Vervoort it changed the way I listen to music. At first I liked the singing part of Wang Dang Sweet Poontang, but one night I heard the guitar playing solo like I had never heard it before and everything changed then. I bought the album from Roses Department Store around 1978. Best version of stormtroopin I have ever heard is on double live Gonzo. And I still go crazy over the solo in Wang dang sweet poontang
This was still good
exactly
Absolutely top quality Americana. I’ll never sell my Double Live Gonzo Album.
30, 40 Jahre alte Aufnahme - und immer noch frisch, wuchtig und thrilling- Top!
I saw Uncle Ted in Saginaw Hall, MI, 1986......I hunt with a bow, own guns, and believe in freedom for the individual!!! I believe in a guy like this!!! Greetings from Norway
Saginaw Civic Center, Summer 83 "World Penetration Tour" after first hearing him in the UP in 1976 and waiting for the moment I had my own license and car... I got tickets 1-6 when the box office opened. When you could actually still do that... Saw him many times subsequently all over the country while I travelled for work. One time in Concord CA I was in a record store and heard he was playing that night. I looked into the tickets and got two tickets in the front row, center...held back until two hours before the concert opened for people who WORKED and weren't sure they could make the concert. Everybody in the first two rows were working stiffs who got off work and checked to see what tickets 'were left' ! Great way to pay back the fans.
Outstanding, I always wanted to see how he did that. Ritchie Blackmore did it similarly in concert - but Ted controls the feedback and plays it like a master. Double Live Gonzo #1!!!
Damn, look at Grange, Davies, and Derek. I always wanted to see Vic Mastroni from Ted and Ambouy Dukes. Tooth Fang and Claw was the start of Ted with this, great white Buffalo, and living in the woods
I saw Ted Nugent last night in Wichita with my 13 year old son. We stood up against the front stage barrier right in the middle and watched and heard magic. I'm glad he didn't talk politics. He let his guitar talk. He is every bit as charismatic, just as much a virtuoso, as the first time I saw him play in 1980 in the Omaha Civic Auditorium when I was 16. I'm glad he is still rocking, just like always. Keep it up, Ted.
And how many R&R greats wasted their talents and lives on drugs and debauchery? And what is Ted doing now? Running one of the country's best hunting preserves, and STANDING UP for gun rights and hunters! TEDDY for President!!!!
And our servicemen and women. Tours to Afghanistan and Iraq. Tours back home saluting the men and women he met over there.
Love or hate his politics, he supports the people that help to keep us protected and free...
Ted is insane all on his own, he doesn't need drugs or .....on the other hand maybe doing drugs and booze would help terrible Ted?
So, what you're saying is: Uncle Ted is a conservative liberal patriot, and people hate him for it, because he doesn't fit into any of their preconceived boxes.
Got it 👍
Ted Nugent was involved in loads of debauchery throughout the decades!!! Very ignorant for you to not recognize this!
Saw Ted,many times, since 74 and am never disappointed. Now he is fighting for my very freedoms I have always cherished...I love this man for more than his music,of which is nothing but sweeter as he gets older.
Ted is great. A brilliant guitarist and a brilliant minded man who loves America and stands up for the rights we were all guaranteed by the Constitution. God Bless him and to hell with the ignorant haters!
Met and Saw Ted Nugent play when I was young growing up in Minnesota...Hibernation was one of my favorite tunes...this clip is awesome, thanks for bringing back some Awesome memories....Nugent Rocks!!!
Uncle Ted is a real musician these punks today would be his water boys!
More like PISS BUCKET boys.........................
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
you mean bitches...
Dammmm...I saw Ted 3 times, 1978, Philly Spectrum, and twice in Michigan, Ann Arbor and Detroit, in the 80's. This man can play a guitar! This particular post is amazing, it sounds just like the studio version. If you can play this good without hiding behind a studio, you are a great guitarist. Thanks Ted for all the great music and fond memories of listening to them!
That is some damn fine guitar work right there!!!
Always loved his playing. Especially back in the days with the Amboy Dukes.
Ted Nugent.... Uniquely American.
I thought this was the coolest shit known to humans in 1978. When I was 15. I grew up and my political views grew pretty far apart, but I'll always remember the goosebumps listening to Nugent gave me in '78.
It's amazing how close this is to the version on Double Live Gonzo. He's very consistent and has no slop in his playing.
This concert in Cologne was legendary ... what I like with Ted Nugent is that he is a real conservative - musically seen - he captured and preserved the true Hard Rock spirit - his energy, dedication and joy are still truly authentic ... to see him live is on my bucket list for 2017 :-)
Ted is a very underrated guitar player. I think his opinions on guns and hunting eclipse his skills as a musician.
r666y only those who've been digging him since the 70s appreciate how good he really is.
Ted's skills on hunting and guns eclipses his skill as a musician. I know what you mean though.
unfortunately thats true, but what is eddie famous for besides guitar? Clapton? Jimmy Page??? Well besides substance abuse...nuthin'.
they can't compare to teddy, they all have maybe one song that jams . but teddy is a bad ass mofo
Ted is one of the best top 3 guitarist in the world,as far as I'm concerned he's in the Hall of Fame and then some without being officialy entered because of someone's hangup! He ls in there I don't care what anybody says just listen to him jam that tells the true story.
Hibernation effects me like almost no other music. Something in that tune hits me to my soul. I've seen Ted live 5 times and will ser him again when possible. Don't always like his lyrics but feel he is one of the greatest.
If you look very closely every chord he plays is a stroke of genius!!!!
Awesome guitar player
@brownwings00 why not?
at 3:45 I feel like I just left earth for those few amazing seconds....Best guitarist on earth. Ted Nugent is an extremly underrated artist. Go TED
génial! toujours excellent à écouter aprés toutes ces années!
Ted un grand artiste .... et un vrai patriote...
C'est vrai
uncle ted got me through many a keg parties back in the late 70'd through the 80's. kids today would know nothing about that or a great guitarist. thank god my 13 year old son likes bands like slipknot and buckethead, system of a down. music, not the crap on the radio.
Straight into Fender twins at extremely high volume using his controls, fingers, and creative mind. He used to mark the feedback points with tape then later memorized where the sweet spots were on stage. And for the record, Ted is deaf in one ear now. This piece was one of the turning points in my guitar playing career. 5 yrs old in 1976 when I first heard this. Been playing ever since! Thank you And God Bless You Great Gonzo Master Ted Nugent! \m/
And they picked Joan Jet into the guitar hall of Fame over Terrible Ted. Just shows you how sick our society has become.
Great post- THANK YOU ! Double Live Gonzo was my first album purchased. Still crank it on vinyl and cd through Cerwin Vega 3 ways, disturbing the peace !!!
Holy shit. This is a tasty jam. Uncle Ted had some serious chops back then.
When I watch Ted, it just takes me back to the days when I was a little kid and I'd had all his album and would jam to them and think that he was so talented. I'm 55 now and I just thank God for those days and of course, Ted too. He was the " shit" and still is.
Uncle Ted is at one with his Byrdland. It's an part of his inner being and an extension of his body, much like a limb.
I still marvel at Ted's playing on this track and I've been listening to the Live Gonzo version constantly since it's release. Pure rock'n'roll genius. That Gibson have never honoured him with a signature guitar and reintroduced the Byrdland will mystify me to the grave.
One of the GREATEST JAM TUNES EVER CREATED. A MASTER AT HIS CRAFT
Wow. What a great guitar hero. Can still remember trying to convince my preacher dad that Ted was a born again christian, just so i could listen to it on his stereo, when i was a young child. Thanks Ted
It happened at Cal Jam 2...Ted's ego was over the roof, Derek and Rob had been booted from the band by Ted and Ted never did produce a top album, except for Wango Tango, but his approach to music had changed. It became all about Ted and the music wasn't the same. No longer were classics being written, now it was stuff like weekend warriors, state of shock, flying liplock and the like. There was no more grown up rock like, Great White Buffalo, Hibernation, Stranglehold, Workin hard playin hard.
Yeah, his artistic well dried up like 42 yrs. ago!?! Then he got into all these side projects because his music wasn't going to sustain him for long! Should have worked at writing the best material possible and expanded his catalog.
I will have to agree with you on that one, that's why he sounded so damn good with the Damn Yankees he wasn't the sole guitar or songwriter he pretty much just did the solos and fills and he was awesome with Damn Yankees, he sounded completely different playing his PRS
I've seen Ted Nugent five times thankfully he never played flying lip lock LOL cheers
Every great guitarist knows this man is a force to be reckoned with and the greatest NorthAmerican on the planet, i first saw him at the vbcc in Huntsville Alabama with foreigner as opening act, my ears are still ringing, Cliff Davies shook my 12 year old ass hand and gave me his sweat soaked towel in gentlemen fashion as I hung over the balcony behind the stage as Ted was removed from the feedback drenched stage, i saw how he ran the show then and until I met him 30 years later around 2006 on a hunting excursion on his ranch in Michigan, diligent and professional yet mind blowing with the sense of integrity all Americans should strive for!
TN in top form here no doubt.Still a great Twangmaster to this day.The Call Of The Wild And Tooth Fang And Claw eras were my favorite, but Ted can still Rock Out...
I’ve never seen this video but, I do own double live gonzo. This is and always will be my favorite song by the NUGE. I love this version and this video. Thanks for putting here.
"The man playing the Gibson Byrdland is a master guitar player and is second to none. No human has ever controlled tone in a guitar better than this man. He can make it cry, or sing like a song bird or growl like a wolf."
Now being a Nugent fan since the early 70's, having seen him in concert 50 + times, as well as not only meeting him, but also got to talk to him for a few minutes. It is hard to argue this, however, The Nuge himself said to me...
Ted is a phenomenal player and performer. A real talent. Underrated as Hell! He captures the late 60's San Francisco acid rock vibe in this song. . Keep going, Ted.
Best band they EVER had...BAR NONE!!!
Ted Nugent...lead guitar and vocals
Derrick St. Holmes...rhythm guitar, lead and backing vocals
Rob Grange...bass
Cliff Davies...drums
Great demonstration of resonance and feedback, and some of the prettiest licks ever rocked. This comes right after Great White Buffalo on the vinyl "Double Live Gonzo"... one of several LPs I wore out as a teenager. Great stuff.
Master class in melody and the harnessing of feedback.
After all these years still an instrumental to which I close my eyes and see the forest. His studio version in Tooth, Fang & Claw is still my go-to. I saw him do a really tight version at Pine Knob in MI, 1976 that was Awesome.
TEETHADORE!!
One Awesome Instrumental !!
Man oh man this is one of my favorites got to CD and it sounds awesome on my Bose sound system I've scribed to your channel I'll be watching for more Love Ted Nugent, his first concert that I went to Pontiac Silverdome, cars was the warm-up band. First time I heard cars to so you know how to get their CD to I still listen to Ted today and I'm 62
I know of nobody that stopped listening to Uncle Ted because of his political beliefs, nobody.
I'll second that, I mean I'll second ammendment that. I saw him in the late 70's at the San Antonio TX hemisphere arena, he did this song and it came out on the double live gonzo album. Ted is a Baddass guitar player and a lethal hunter period
The Allman Bros were like, "DAMN!"
Come on ........ who could make love to an electric guitar like Ted Nugent...............there was nothing better.
I have to admit to being a lefty, multi-culturist, polyglot American who actually likes Ted Nugent's music and his taste in guitars.
Ted is so influential on so many levels, and many players are not worthy of standing in his shadow. Hats off to uncle Ted 🎸🎼🎶👑
You said it perfectly b-13...I saw him in September 75 and then again in Dec 75,,,,there was a change. Lovers of guitar rock knew the Nuge was where it was at...one of the best but fame...I bet there are better versions from 74-75 out there but great...pure Nuge. Thanks for the post.
One of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded live.
Double Live Gonzo....The soundtrack for me when I was 16....40 years ago.Wang Dang Sweet Poontang!!
It's amazing how he confronts the feedback, tames it, and rides it like his b*tch. Many would be intimidated by standing directly in front of the amplifier stack and let the feedback build momentum where there is no room for error. That's where Ted chooses to make his stand as if in battle chipping away at the silence that once occupied that very space until it becomes a sculpture of defiance against the nothingness that existed before. Incredible.
He paid the price for his hearing, money well spent
That is a DAMN FINE DESCRIPTION OF THIS SONG MAN.
He used to put tape on the floor where he can run to catch a certIn feedback: So Ted moves all around, but had stuff figured out; thatd why theres "Sound checks."
@@jimkostan9932 Of course. It's great showmanship. Been going to concerts since age 13. Worked in bars with live bands for a decade before I got tired of the tug of war between raising children and working nights. I have had many friends who performed fulltime back in the 90's before karaoke replaced them because it's cheaper. Even now I have a young neighbor who recently lost his voice singing death metal to which I pointed out the different tricks of the trade to sooth his vocal cords, tea and honey etc, and showed him the DVD Unledded with Page and Plant and how Robert used female back up singers (one of which he later married) because he can't hit the high end of his vocal register. He was too young to see such an evolution in a musical career so it was new to him. I was just being poetic to show my admiration to that window of time called the 70's.
He used to have roadies tape the floor where The Brydland gets certain feedbacks from different angles.Yep: he does control it very well.Always since early days Journey to the center of your mind.Certain knack to it.
I saw Nugent twice in the seventies and the time i saw him at Soldier Field in Chicago, he was waist high in plastic gallon water jugs we had all tossed on stage. 80, 000 fans rocking out in the summertime. They heard him 40 miles away. Great show and Lynyrd Skynyrd was there along with 38 Special . Six dollar ticks back then, in 1977.
While most players dread feedback they can't control, Ted embraces it and makes it work for him.
INDEED !
Actually feedback is very easy to control. With enough overdrive u can just hold a note, stand in front of amp and let her go.
John Lennon Claimed the 1st controlled feedback beginning of "I Feel Fine"...Ted took that and made it an artform
@@JRRoss-vx1ni... Where is your video "controlling' it? That's what i thought skippy...
Got a few but don't need to prove anything to your silly ass. Oh and I've also got your skippy hangin low biatch. lol.
I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. Came to a stop light in livonia Michigan. There was Ted in his Zebra Bronco. He is the Motor city Mad man forever! He rocked on the stage and off.
The dozen or so times i saw Ted is the reason i am 50% deaf in my right ear. I am 60 yo by the way. Miss those days badly.
I don't even play a guitar but I want a Gibson Byrdland Guitar!
Them rock n roll rituals, gotta tune 'em up tune em down bring em home bring em round, rock n roll rituals if anyone knows you know!!!!
" make sure they are healthy, make sure they are doing the right thing our way, you know what i mean, them rock & roll rituals. If anybody knows you know..."
Kurt Cobain couldn't even play instrumental Riffs. Ted sounds awesome
One of the greatest guitar solos of all time!!,
Great lesson at 6:11. He hits a note I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to hit and then runs with it, doubles down, and incorporates it into the melody. Smooth.
SO TRUE; every once in a great while, I can catch a harmonic and actually ride the feedback for more than a few seconds. How on earth someone does it consistently, on stage, without flaw just amazes me.
One of the top incredible guitarist ever....and cliff davis the drummer is very underrated also u had to be good to play with ted....they were some badass musicians...
When you are a guitar GOD, you can ride the ego.... NUGENT WAS AND WILL BE THE TOP DOG.....
Yup, but the lesson is....they always fall. And Ted was humbled. Ted went too far IMO, if he could have kept it somewhat under wraps, he could been top dog for longer, IMO.
And also what I mean by it "blowing him up" is that his ego also cost him his band. Never was the same without Holmes and it hurt Ted. He blew away all his money and then he was humbled and his music was never the same either. These things happened because of an over blown ego. So yes, his ego blew him up and he was never the same. He could have been on top longer if he would of took care of his band instead of wanting to step all over them. He had to be the star and he took it too far.....a lesson to us all.
Who the original lead
vocalist for The Amboy Dukes? Toney Tillery Isaiah.💿
He did have a run as top dog yes and right about when this video was made . Ted was a god to us high school burnouts lol. God I miss those days !!
Opinion's are like assholes...everyone has one but yours stinks meant for blite13
A true no holds bared guitar player been watching Ted since 1977 Grand slam jam what a show man just pounding that Byrdland and a master with feedback none better
this fantastic masterpiece of unc teds is a story w/o words, CAN'T YOU HEAR IT!!!!!!!
Very underrated guitarist he plays with passion and a love for his craft wish i could play half as good as he does
His ego didn't blow him up...his common-sense STOOD HIM UP!!!!!!!!!!!
Ted Nugent for president!!!
Chris Michaels I could have not said that better myself
You are right
Politics aside......Ted blew up his band because of his massive ego.....was never the same after Derek and Rob left, period.
FOOK OFF. HE SUX AS A PERSON. BUT HE IS A MASTER ON GUITAR.
I disagree Ted became a bigot pure and simple. He forgets where he came from and it's sad. He is a great musician. I saw him live in the 70's. He was great. Now he runs his mouth as much or more than he plays. When he opened for KISS - a few years back -Gene Simmons used to tell him - " Shut up Ted and play"
.....saw this band 5 times in concert; great great great great great great great band.
Don't care what anyone says....I like uncle teddy.
+laserbeam 002 A master on that thing
+laserbeam 002 TED'S THE BEST
Don't listen to those Toxic non free thinkers! Fuck those liberal Punks!
Beats the ever loving shit out of the original version. And that one was pretty damn good in it's own right.
I've been playing since 1967. Seen 'em all. Ted has never disappointed. LONG LIVE ROCK 'n ROLL!
He really knows how to make that guitar work for him.
The best uncle Ted he has the most underrated drummers ever
I personally think a Gibson can make better music. And ya gotta love the way Terrible Ted makes it all come together.
Ted's Gibson Byrdland paired with a wall of Fender amps...pure magic.
