    I have the G17, G19 and G45. When they are all loaded and I pick them up and set them down, one at a time, several times in a row, the G45 just seems perfectly balanced to me. The 19 grip feels a little too short and the 17 feels a tad top heavy. The G45 feels perfect in my hands.

    I would say it's a great gun if you don't already own a 19 or 17. Best of both worlds. I have all 3 and the G45 is my new go to. Daily carry appendix style and my belt gun.

      @@m1951-j2u mainly because the grip of the 19 is too small, in fairness, you may have smaller hands so view it differently. My pinky is barely touching to grip on a 19. The 17 fits like a glove and is much more controllable. Of course the longer slide/barrel lends itself to a more favorable recoil impulse as well and the length of barrel/slide does little to impact conceal-ability. The 19 simply offers less (literally 2 rounds less) unless you’re a small person.

    • @topturretgunner
      @topturretgunner 2 роки тому +2

      @@m1951-j2u my two cents worth. I own a Gen 4 Glock 19. Always seems to take a two magazine warm up for me at the gun range. Then the group size shrinks noticeably. A Glock 17 not so and I attribute that to the added controllability of the full size grip. Same thing with the Glock 34 and 35 that I own. I like the balance of the Glock 45 and I like the trigger. Haven’t had it to the range as yet but after dry firing it I’ll it’ll do just fine. The thing that ultimately sold me on Glocks was the dependability. I am by nature a better shooter with a 1911 45ACP and still own 3. Smallish hands, short fingers and beefy palms have made the 1911 grip a much more comfortable and natural fit with the Glock feeling like a 2x4 in my hand. Gotta confess here though that the G 45 does feel comfortable. I’m told that Glock experimented with the grip dimensions on the G45 somewhat ( wether that’s true I don’t know) but it does feel better.

Now, I’m writing this quite a while after this video came out and now we have the G48 and G43X. I own both and prefer to carry the G43X....I feel I get quicker sight acquisition using Trijicon hd sights on the shorter slide. I’m so sold on the idea of “X” models ( shorter slide on larger frame ) that I think they should come,out with a G26X. A G19 frame with a G26 length slide. After all, G19’s are arguably the best selling and commonly concealed carry model. Just my two cents.

I did have to laugh though, it came with a marked casing and also on the envelope it gives exact twist and marking on casing's. I don't care because I know I'm not going to be doing anything Illegal with it, but for me it was kinda funny. Also came with 3 extra mag's and a nice case.

    I recently started carrying a Glock 45MOS as a duty gun, coming from our agency issued Glock 21. Of all the Glocks I’ve ever owned, the 45MOS is my favorite. It’s perfectly balanced, very accurate (especially with a red dot), the smaller G19 grip does make a difference when sitting in a cruiser (or desk chair), the Gen 5 trigger is super smooth, and is a good all around duty gun. I had my doubts at first, but after 30 minutes on the range and seeing 1-2” groups, I was sold.

    Good video. Now, here are MY thoughts. To start off with, I'm a "tactical" guy. I like tactical. I own both tactical AND practical firearms. On the tactical side, I have a 19X. LOVE the 19X. I think the balance, control, recoil impulse are all very smooth. With it being my tactical firearm, concealability isn't a concern, although I HAVE carried it in the winter months where a bigger, heavier jacket easily eliminates any concerns of my gun 'printing'. On the practical side, I have a 43X. How do I define "practical" in this instance? Ease of concealability, comfort of carry, and magazine capacity. The slim frame of the 43X checks the first two boxes, and with 10 rnds in a single stack, that checks the last box, and ShieldArms makes a 15 round double to single mag that fits flush with the 43X grip. While the 43X is slightly uncomfortable to shoot for a guy with big hands, aka ME, it's more of a FUNCTION over FIT for me when it comes to discharging it. Because it's a Glock, I know it will fire when I pull the trigger, and that I will hit whatever it is I am aiming at, and will continue to function flawlessly until I run out of ammo. I mention ALL that to ask this question.......why so much emphasis on gun size for concealability purposes when you have a tac-light dangling off the end?

    As a LE officer I will say that it is a good design. It allows you to carry 17+1 rounds as opposed to 15+1. Speaking from experience, carrying in a vehicle is a valid argument. Police Officers don’t have the luxury of carrying the latest Kyle holsters on duty, for the most part we carry an oversized Safariland holster, with light, and a century lock.

    I have had a gen 2 to a gen 5 19, they have been my favorite carry weapon for over a decade and I have shot more rounds than I care to think about. Unfortunately, I also have fat hands. The flared magwell was an awesome addition, but over time it annoyed me with the gen 5 19, I had a little more than a half-inch of hand meat hanging below the base of the grip. The flare, although subtle, didn't sit right with me and rubbed somewhat awkwardly. I found a guy that bought a 45 and he wanted to go back to a 19, so we swapped. I couldn't be happier. I know it sounds over-exaggerated, but I feel so much more confident now in my purchase on the grip. Could I still shoot and use the 19 (gen 5) in a defense situation? Abso-freaking-lutely. I would and have picked it over many other carry weapons. But that's my .02 on the situation. I feel like no matter the plusses or negatives or preconceived notions as to why the 45 platform is "better", it fills my needs better than my 19 did. 45 is definitely a winner with me.

    I am glad to see Glock come out with a new model. The changes they made will def Benifit any shooter. I have a Glock 19 G5 which I love and my Carry gun is a Glock 43. I do also have a SW MP Shield which is still a good gun but the slide is hard to release and the action is not as smooth as a Glock. Plus I love the Glock trigger. I have fired SIG’s, 1911’s and Berreta’s and in my opinion nothing compares to a Glock. I am currently still serving in the Army National Guard and I feel that Glock should of got the contract even if the government had to get a separate contract for the ammo. That’s just my opinion. Not that SIG makes a terrible gun but I would prefer a Glock by my side if I had to deploy again. Great review and I might be tempted to try a Glock 45 out.

  • @Kenosistoblood
    @Kenosistoblood 5 років тому +3

    I just purchased a Glock model 45 at the end of December. It is now, my favorite Glock that I own.
    I also own a Gen III Glock 22 .40 cal S&W and a Gen IV Glock 21 .45 cal ACP. The agency that I work for issues Glock 22’s for duty. To be able to practice on my own and be more efficient, familiar, better muscle memory etc., I bought my Glock 22 for that purpose. I think I purchased it in 2008 but definitely, no later than 2009. I have no idea how many rounds I have shot through it but with the exception of loading spent casings in the magazines to simulate malfunctions, I can’t recall it ever having a legitimate minor or major malfunction.
    In either 2014 or 2015, I purchased my Glock 21. I had been wanting a .45 cal handgun for a while. Due to how well my Glock 22 has performed, I chose to stick with Glock.
    As I have started learning more about firearms, I wanted to also buy other brands to see how they compared to Glock. When my wife and kids moved to Colorado in 2003, we were moving to the town that she was born and raised in. Her ex husband no longer lived here but due to his abuse and threats to murder her and kidnap the 2 kids they had together but he lost parental rights to, due to his abuse, when we moved here from California, I felt it best to buy a handgun for home protection. Having come from California, and knowing very little about firearms at the time, I bought a brand new Hi Point 9mm. I think the model was called the C-9? That gun was hot garbage! Brand new it was only $99.99 and now I know why it was so cheap. The gun would jam and not properly feed a round into the chamber. It was literally good for only 1 shot and then you had to rack the slide, clear the weapon and in the process, usually have it eject 1 or 2 live rounds before a round would properly go into the chamber. I contacted Hi Point and they were no help and refused to warranty any repairs. They said what was happening was normal until the firearm broke in. My next purchase would be an AR-15 that was super reliable. I also purchased a Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun for home defense too. So until I started doing law enforcement and bought my Glock 22, I mainly used my AR-15 and shotgun for home defense. The Hi Point stayed in a drawer untouched. I think I then traded it in on my Glock 21 to help offset some of the cost. The store gave me $100.00 for it because the model had increased in price from 2004 to 2014 or 2015.
    I was wanting to get another 9mm again. I was looking at the Glock 17 and Glock 19. I then tried out a M&P 2.0 9mm and absolutely loved it. The grip was so much more comfortable over my Glocks. When payroll hit my account, I went to go buy the M&P. Unfortunately, it sold the day before. I was so freaking bummed too. I then went back and looked at the Glock 17 and 19. Both of the ones the store had in stock had the cheap plastic sights on them. I was planning on also buying the trijicon night sights to add on when the store owner showed me the new Glock 45 and it already had the night sights on it. The handgrip still wasn’t as comfortable as the M&P but it felt much better then my other Glocks. I was considering on waiting for another M&P 2.0 to come in later, in a few days but Glock added a new feature on the Glock 45 or maybe on all Gen V Glocks in general. What was added was the slide lock on both sides of the firearm. I don’t think M&P has their 2.0’s with that feature? But the more I looked at the Glock 45, the more I really liked it. As a result, I pulled the trigger (pun intended) and bought it. I do plan on going back and buying a few M&P 2.0’s in the future.
    The reason why I love the feature of the slide lock on both sides is because I train using different scenarios all the time. One of the things that I train, is losing the ability of my right hand. Maybe in a real life situation, I have taken a round to my right hand, right elbow or shoulder or anywhere on the right arm and I am unable to rack the slide. Let’s say I am behind cover and am having to switch mags because the one in the Glock is empty. The slide is all the way back and locked into position due to me using all of the rounds. I now have to release the empty mag and reload a full mag into the Glock. But because my right hand does not function, I have to use the slide lock, only using my left hand to release the slide and chamber a round. I can then get back into the firefight, using only my left hand, and can then hopefully stop the threat.
    If the slide lock was still only on the left side of the Glock, yes I can still do everything but it was take a few seconds longer. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot but even in 3 or 4 seconds, the bad guy can still fire at least 9 or 10 more rounds. So with the slide lock on both sides, maybe that extra 3 or 4 seconds saves my life or 1 or more innocent other lives.

    My G45 did not come with Night Sights. I do know it's the best Glock I have ever owned. The 19 slide with less mass, and the bigger 17 grip, make this gun so easy to shoot fast. Is that really true ? I don't know, but it works for me lol To me, I have slender fingers, I can spread my fingers a little, lower my support hand slightly, and get more leverage to fight the recoil. The only thing I really disagree with, is I prefer the trigger feel of my Gen4. The Gen5 trigger (to me) is spongy like a NY1, but it is still a nice trigger. As far as slide swapping, my 45 slide functions on my Gen4 G32 frame, and the 32 slide functions on the 45 frame.

A gun shop in my area offers the blue label program, as law enforcement I get a $100 discount on any Glock weapon. The dealer I worked with said that he only had one left in stock, so I bought it. The only difference is the little barrel plug at the bottom. So unless you're brass rollin with a small kydex custom holster OWB there's no difference. (I would not consider anything other than the Safariland for duty carry because of its awesome retention and robust design. They are the gold standard as far as I know.)

      This gun was designed to be accurate at 21' and kill multiple assailants quickly, being the flattest shooting 9mm Glock ever. Concealability and long distance shooting wasn't priority.

    My desire for this one is fueled by the fact that I'm short, 5'2". The shorter barrel makes it easier to conceal. I've been carrying a Ruger SRc for years but hate the field stripping for that gun. The Glock also solves that issue for me. I'll be buying one in the next few months.

    Good video. The G45 is on my future purchase list. I'm glad to know that Glock did away with the magazine cutout, because I was about to buy the Gen5 G19, but the cutout was truly so bothersome and annoying that it became a deal killer.

    Well i only owned one glock till yesterday (gen 3 26 great little pistol ! ) was looking for a pre-tested 19 or 17 the two 19s they had (the previous owners had did horrible things to the grips) then he handed me the 45 which was like new ! the guy that bought it had to return it because his wife told him he couldn't have it !!! so at 499.00 it went home with me ! & i haven't put it down yet ! to me it feels really good in my hand & can't wait to shoot it ! will i by another glock ? not sure but this one took care of a itch i had for years to me i got two for one & i'm happy with my choice nice review & i just subbed to your channel

      I agree. I think the G19 is great. I was expecting the G45\G19x to be the same but I shoot the G45\G19x better then the G19 or the G17. Dunno, maybe someone is smarter then me. But I'm 6'4" and don't have a problem concealing a large gun.

      I’ll 4th that comment. I shoot my 19X better than my 19 and 17. It balances better than the 17 to me. I’ve never liked the way the 17 balances and have preferred the 19. Now the 19X is my favorite handgun.

      @@bgomusicco I am guessing much of this is due to very large hands. Small or medium hands on a G45 and you just have a lot of unused grip below your hand. With very large hands the bigger grip of a G45/19X would allow you to control the gun much better. I can't imagine that just an ounce or two of grip hanging below the hand of someone who has smaller/medium hands would be the thing making the difference. I think big hands go G45/19X, medium or smaller hands G19, you can always run bigger mags.

    Nice review been debating between a G17 and G45 for a home defense “night stand gun” if you will. I like the idea of my G19 Gen 5 MOS holsters being compatible with the G45. Are there any real advantages to the G17 that might make it a better option than G45 in your opinion? Also I’m a Ohio State Buckeye fan born and raised but I have to say I absolutely love the wave to children at the hospital their in Iowa 🙌🏻 Keep up the great work!
