Hi Andrew, how are you???? I hope you are very very well.... ☺️So, I wish to you and all your family a beautiful Christmas.... 🎅Rich of gift and a lot of desire.... All the best to you, your daughter, and lovely Basil..... 🎁🙋♀️😊💐Ciao
Love the video. Very informative regards the colours you mixed. Helps me with my colour process. I love the daily dose of Cornwall as I was brought up there. Now living Bondi, Australia. Keep them coming. 👏
Best video of all...Love the medium you used (same as I), French easel (same as mine), toned canvas (same) and looks like 16X12 (like me). Very wonderful piece too.
Thanks Michael. I enjoyed using the medium, I haven’t added Damar before but I have loads of it in the studio that needs using up (don’t often varnish paintings) I’ll measure the canvas today but I think you’re right on the ball with that too! All the best 👍🏻
Thank you. I love it! Started using it by accident really as I bought some second hand paints and magenta was part of the lot. Now I use it instead of Alizarin crimson most of the time 😃
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt - I use Alizarin Crimson mixed with Cerulean Blue and Ultramarine Blue to get intense purples of various hues so quite fond of that one too especially when sketching in watercolour. Tripped over the mix in the summer when out painting.
Beautiful area and v helpful. Useful to hear what you r thinking as u go along, what choices u r making. Like seeing brush marks up close. Can I ask a dumb question - why do u want the medium to slow drying when it is a quick sketch? Isn’t oil slow anyway. Or did I misunderstand the benefit of the damar. Thk you.
Thank you Maria Glad you enjoyed the video. Good point about the damar varnish. I have lots of it in the studio and needed to find a way to use it as I don’t varnish paintings. I found a recipe for painting medium that contained it so thought I’d give it a try. I like how it makes the paint go sticky
What a lovely, calming painting session. Love the location and watching people and dogs come and go too! You made a dull, grey winter day look beautiful as usual.. love the points of bright colour in the distance which attract the eye, the buoys and the boats which guide the eye across the painting. I have never seen cormorants (or was it a shag?) so close to the shore line looking for fish! And the obligatory lazy herring gull hoping to steal his catch! Really great thank you.
Thank you Jennie - I enjoyed including the people going about their leisure time (especially the canoe guy!) I think it was a cormorant but was fairly small - couldn't miss the opportunity to include him either Have a great Christmas
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt thanks Andrew. Thank you for all the great posts and films this year. It’s really given me something creative and positive to focus on in these uncertain times. Hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas together!
Many factors that viewers of the videos don’t see contribute to a plein air painting. I remember that day very well because someone reversed into my Land Rover half way through the painting ☹️
Thank you 🙏🏻
Happy new year Andrew, for you and family.... 👍🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Happy new year to you and your family Veronica x
Really enjoyed your narrative as you went along, almost felt like I was painting it. Always good to hear the artist's mindset. Thank you.
Thank you Jim. I like to mumble along while painting, helps me relax 😃
Nice landscape painting
Thank you very much 😊
Well done, Andrew!
Thank you Robert
Beautiful area! You did a great job showing the quietness of the scene.
Thank you very much Judith.
Beautiful painting, what a great place…happy holidays!,
Thank you Veronica. Have a great holiday 😃

Nice to see someone else using magenta, a colour I always have on my palette these days on plein air sessions.

Merry Christmas Andrew
Merry Christmas Robin - I haven't forgotten our painting day. Been busy with - painting - new year it will be good
Very attractive final result but no punch. Why ? Could it be overpainting ?

I've shared it to Cornish plein air painters
That's great - thank you very much

more turpentine at the beginning = maigre. Add a little more oil as you paint more layers = gras
