  • Hi, in this video I am going to show you why the Thai-Grid Standard got me to buy a new inverter. Sometimes you just spend money for (almost) no reason ;)

    That is one thing about grid tied we are stuck working with whatever the utility gives you and sometimes they do not follow their own rules. Two years ago I had a low voltage supply problem and the Enphase would disengage at 106 volts per leg. They blamed my furnace but funny thing after the complaint I never had the problem again.

    Thanks for sharing Roland. My OFF-GRID inverter charger sort of does the something similar when input UTILITY (generator) Voltage is above 242 VAC. One of my inverter chargers will refuse to allow BYPASS function (where the generator also directly powers the home instead of being imited to charging the battery bank) of any Voltage greater than 242 VAC. The inverter charger does not have the parameters or appropriate toggle switches to change Voltage tolerance range. So, I had to adjust the speed of the generator engine to slightly drop the Voltage to be no more than 241 VAC. Here in Australia, the standard nominal Voltage is 230 VAC for single phase, with an acceptable Voltage tolerance range between 216 to 253 VAC.
    For those that are interested.
    The make and model of the off-grid inverter charger product mentioned above is:
    * EPEVER
    * UP3000-M6322 (24VDC 60A Solar and 30A Utility charge current)

      Good you can regulate your generator. When it comes to the grid, one might suspect, that the grid operators deliberately raise the voltage to push solar out. Here we used to always have 230V more or less exactly. Then around a year ago the voltage went up to slightly less than 240V. That is independent of solar on the grid, as the voltage is that high already before sunrise. Then during the day of course the troubles begin. I understand that managing the grid isn't an easy task. But maybe one day it will be better to be off-grid at all as you.

    Yess I do the same, hanging arround with my Dog in airconditioned room : )( : Thanks to solar power we can actually afford to let the aircon run nonstop.
    Our neighbours Aircondition suddenly stopped working since the bill for electricity came....

      @@topeye4202 they will do that for sure once they cannot sell their expensive natural gas generated power anymore. But luckily there are enough PV Nay-sayers who will happily pay any price the government is charging...

      @@RolandW_DIYEnergyandMore Yes for sure, cause to do some investment which pays back years later is not compatible with a from hand into mouth philosophy.

    Man kann nur vermuten ...der Schaden durch Über/ Unterspannung welcher in den Haushalten entsteht dürfte sehr hoch sein.Das Zusammenspiel von Highvoltage und feinster Elektronik wird bei instabilen Netzen immer ein Sorgenkind bleiben.Dazu kommt die Korrosion , ja alles gute ist nie beisammen.Deshalb ein Lob an das Energienetz von D,Ö usw. ( wie es heute ist weiss ich nicht ...wird ja viel erzählt über " Balkonkraftwerke" und damit verbundenen Problemen beim Netzbetreiber.
    Bitte öffne demnächst mal den Inversor mit deff. Display ,bestimmt auch interessant.Habe das gleiche Problem an meinem Kaffeeautomat
    Gruss und bei der Hitze viel Trinken aber das weisst Du selbst
