I played this for my lady.I'm 70 years old. She asked me "when are going to grow up"? I've been rockin since 1958. I'm not going to change. Metal today needs another Pantera.
The end of this song gives me goosebumps Everytime. His voice against the guitar is amazing. But the greatest part is watching the expression of someone hearing it for the first time.
one of the most epic outro's in any genre of music. Just leaves you hanging there wanting more. Epic. No one could give a guitar emotion like Dime! you just don't hear it , you feel it.
Cemetery Gates talks about a man who fell in love and after a few years his partner dies, this fills him with anger and indignation since they loved each other and had a life plan together, after the death of his loved one he could not shed a tear for pride But, like many people, this man cannot stop thinking about her, he feels alone and feels a great emptiness inside him, it is difficult for him to accept that she is gone and he even talks to his deceased partner, expecting some kind of response, such as As many people do in real life, until one day he realizes that this does not make sense, that he has to move on and that he should have cried and accepted the loss, having done so saved years of suffering. There are a couple of theories out there, some say that it is based on real events and others say that in reality the song is a metaphor, who dies is not the romantic partner of the protagonist but the relationship itself and that everything is about denial and subsequent overcoming of the protagonist before a break. For me it is what it is, a song that tells a story like any other RIP, DIME and Vinnie Paul
Phil has an astounding voice. Before the big switch to the heavier groove metal style in 1990 Pantera was a power metal band, and Phil did most of his singing in a very high range compared to that baritone speaking voice of his.
It was Phil’s direction that took them to such a heavy sound and even renamed diamond Daryl to dimebag... his voice is pretty shredded now though so yeah he had a great voice but sacrificed it for the heavier sound
Yes! The butchered up version should be banned. They did it on “This Love” too. I know it’s video vs. album versions but the album versions should be the only ones allowed in this world lol.
I'm so glad y'all reacted to Pantera!! They're the best heavy metal band ever!! Dimebag is the best heavy metal guitarist ever!! Vinnie Paul is the best heavy metal drummer ever!! Phil is one of the best heavy metal vocalists ever!! Rex's one of the best heavy metal bass players ever!! Pantera - Planet Caravan next please!!
Phil is my favourite singer & Pantera my favourite band of all time! Phil is from New Orleans & the Abbott bros from Texas. RIP Dimebag Darrell & Vinnie Paul. There will never be another Pantera, sadly, but their music will live on forever!
The musicality of the Pantera rhythm section matched with the vocals of Phil Anselmo really work here. They really did some magic on the intro with the section, the intro is really lush, and sits with the chord progresion. I grew up young, watching the "Busking" videos of Dimebag Darrell, I dig the style of Dimebag Darrell Being aware of his influence helps me with to understand. I have an appreciation of LambOfGod who also blur the line between the line of Southern Countrialism, thank goodness they blur the line... I can't describe my appreciation of this,,
This song was written on the Album where they got super heavy. The next album was Vulgar Display of Power. One of the best if not heaviest albums of all time which saved metal in the 90s.
They were all exelent musicians. R.I.P. Dime Bag Darrell Abbott & Vinnie Paul Abbott. They are together again where ever great musicians go after life as we know it.
Its been a long time to waiting some pantera song in this channel..thanks for doin this. Next should be Domination live from Moscow 1991. Long live Pantera, RIP Dime and Vinnie.

After the brothers passed away? The song gives me even deeper chills. If you get time on your own time, check out the original version. Is longer but it's absolutely more beautiful. I promise you won't be disappointed. *. Regarding one of your last comments? Sounds like you're an empath brother LOL you could tell you're both good people
Anybody know what happened to Dime's Judas Priest, British Steel razor blade that he always wore around his neck? I'm just curious (Personally, I hope they left it around his neck to be buried with). I was driving a big-rig to Columbus Oh, as was my job five nights a week. I was about 30mi away from where Pantera was playing. I had Z-Rock playing on the radio when the news was delivered about what went down...I had to pull over and stop to gather myself and spew some projectile puke over the guardrail. Talk about a "gut punch" sent straight outa hell. If there had some kind of way to get the info beforehand of what was gonna happen, I would've driven a tractor trailer goin a hundred miles an hour through the damn wall of the place and made the mfkr into a gut-pile that they would've had to pick up with a spatula (and of course, not kill anyone else besides the pos mfkr that I would've been after).
Phil's singing voice could compete with the top tier of any metal singer in his day. This includes Rob Halford. His voice was a beast. Although I like the heavier way he went with his voice, I think he did a disservice to himself to not allow his clean voice to become the sound of Pantera in the later albums. Now, I think his voice is wrecked, unfortunately. At least we have songs like this that show the true range of his incredible voice, as it was.
Phil Anselmo has a huge vocal range its just he prefer to stay in the zone he find most sufficient for the music they played with Pantera. He wasnt focused on showing-off his abilities and stayed with concept.
My favorite metal band and its not even close the talent the 4 of them had together is mind blowing the lead singer Phil Anselmo in his prime had one of the best voices they have so many good songs broken medicine man revolution is my name cowboys from hell list goes on
Phil could have been, but he sabotaged himself, hated the clean singing on this song, etc. It's a shame, because in his ever going tough guy quest he squandered one hell of a voice.
One of the best songs from my childhood! Thanks for reacting to it \m/. I'd love to see yall do something by Within Temptation, perhaps Stand My Ground.
you guys should listen to Black Label Society - In This River (Doom Troopin' Live) its a great song. zakk did it for panteras guitarist dimebag after he was shot on concert. hes playing dimes guitar in this live version.. RIP DIME AND VINNIE
hello guys could you see the most epic video of Manowar where they play on stage with an orquesta, a choir, the 3 historical guitarists and the 3 historical drummers all together ... the song is Batlle hymns ... thanks for your time

Closest I've found to Pantera is Lamb Of God. Lots of groove, great drums, great vocals.
I'm only 57 but if somebody asked me (when I'm going to grow up because I like metal)that I wouldn't take it lightly I'd be highly offended
I love you man
Amen brother but there will never be another Dimebag sadly
There'll never be another Pantera, they were in a league of their own.
Dime was the greatest metal guitarist to ever bless a guitar.
Thanks God finally someone reacts to the full song
The end of this song gives me goosebumps Everytime. His voice against the guitar is amazing. But the greatest part is watching the expression of someone hearing it for the first time.
Sometimes the guitar can say what the voice cannot !
I love the "Duet" at the end.

Your precise insight Is greatly appreciated
Phil has an astounding voice. Before the big switch to the heavier groove metal style in 1990 Pantera was a power metal band, and Phil did most of his singing in a very high range compared to that baritone speaking voice of his.
The album 'Power Metal' shows off his voice nicely.
*had
It was Phil’s direction that took them to such a heavy sound and even renamed diamond Daryl to dimebag... his voice is pretty shredded now though so yeah he had a great voice but sacrificed it for the heavier sound
After all these years it's still my favorite Pantera song 😁👍👍
About time sometime did the full song! Always hated how the official vid cuts it short.
Yes! The butchered up version should be banned. They did it on “This Love” too. I know it’s video vs. album versions but the album versions should be the only ones allowed in this world lol.
Me too
@@paulie98vr6 This love is worse IMHO cause it cuts some amazing guitar riffs!
For me, Pantera is the best metal band ever and maybe one of the best bands of all time. You can hear their influence throughout metal in general
It sucks that no one ever does HOLLOW by PANTERA!!! He sings so beautifully there!!! But awesome reaction as ALWAYS!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

This is a great example to say that the best music is already made:)
You wanna hear another dope ass song with vocals kind of like this? This Love. Phil sings his ass off on that track.

I’m always waiting on people to react to one of my favorite pantera songs. Waiting till you know when
Long live Dimebag Darrell, magic riffs 🤟🏼
The live versions are so much better because you see the emotion and pain he is going thru.
Phil had one of the most melodic voices in the game the first few albums! Try We'll Meet Again! His voice is definitely on display on that track. 🤘
Only seen pantera once, but when they ruled metal.🎤🎸🥁👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job with your reaction to Cemetery Gates from Pantera RIP Vinnie Paul and Dime Bag Darell .
Phil is a very underrated vocalist. PATERA!!!! +1000 points.
Lyric video has a couple mistakes, here are the lyrics from the album liner. RIP Dime and Vinnie. All hail the mighty Pantera!
Cemetery Gates by Pantera
Reverend, reverend
Is this some conspiracy?
Crucified for no sins
An image beneath me
Lost within our plans for life
It all seems so unreal
I'm a man cut in half in this world
Left in my misery
The reverend, he turned to me
Without a tear in his eyes
It's nothing new for him to see
I didn't ask him why
I will remember
The love our souls had sworn to make
Now I watch the falling rain
All my mind can see now is your (face)
Well, I guess you took my youth
I gave it all away
Like the birth of a new-found joy
This love would end in rage
And when she died I couldn't cry
The pride within my soul
You left me incomplete
All alone as the memories now unfold
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates
Sometimes when I'm alone
I wonder aloud
If you're watching over me
Some place far abound
I must reverse my life
I can't live in the past
Then set my soul free
Belong to me at last
Through all those complex years
I thought I was alone
I didn't care to look around
And make this world my own
And when she died I should've cried
And spared myself some pain
You left me incomplete
All alone as the memories still remain
The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern is now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates
The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern is now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates
Gates
