    This is exactly the same as in a 1987 LTD Crown Victoria, and Yup! A real jigsaw puzzle. You beat Me to making a video of changing the water pump, but only I still have 1 minor issue. Was hoping that it would show the location of the Timing Marker & took Mine off to clean it & forgot how it goes back on.

      @@ScotteLo Haaa Well that makes two of Us! I prefer Chevy too & water pumps are so simple on them of the older generation. Even though I am a fully Licensed Mechanic, theses manufactures change things all the time, one can not keep in mind how without heaving to look up in manual or like in this case, hoping a video on UA-cam will assist. I mentioned about Your Video over My Channel in A video I posted, but could now remember who or what name of channel was, so thank You very much for replying to My comment & also for posting that as It most certainly did help Me in figuring out how the brackets went back in. Just 1 bracket had Me really stumped at lower bottom that did not show in the video, but did manage to finally figure it out as where it went.

      @@ScotteLo I had another 89 and the first thing I had to do was a new radio with CD. Had to have the sounds and the original deck stopped working. I know when I get me latest out of the shop, I think the radio is no good so I have been researching. Because a CD was ordered on mine, you also had to order the JBL from back then with 12 speakers and a 140 watt amp. The new deck I am looking at says it comes with a connection so I can hook it to the original amp. Never heard of this but if my radio has to go, I will let you know if it worked out. I really would like to keep the old amp and I could hear the bass in it when I slipped in a test CD. Sounded really nice. Really want to keep the original deck so I am praying I can get the old radio working after sitting for 11 years.

    Love the videos. You actually have a 1988 Town Car unless that is an 87 with an 88 front end. Just bought an 89 Cartier two tone and have to replace everything you did because it sat for 11 years and ethanol wrecked tank and all the parts including filler neck.

      If you still have your small pump on it there should be like a bracket very close to it with a nut and bolt behind it and that is how you loosen up your tensioner pulley to get some slack to get your serpentine belt off

    My 1987 has a very long crank, then runs fine. If I cycle the key a couple extra times it seems to start a little quicker. Any suggestions? I was told the fuel is washing back to the tank and need to replace the pump???

      I know you're not going to believe this but mine took forever to crank up until I change the alternator as working on cars my whole life that makes no sense to me because the battery cranks the vehicle and the alternator keeps it running when can I change the alternator on this Lincoln Town car it removed the slow crank start 🤷🏼‍♂️

    How do I remove the belt idler pulley and belt ?

    • @ScotteLo
      @ScotteLo  9 місяців тому

      So it is not like a serpentine system nowadays where you put like a ratchet in a hole and it loosens up the tensioner and the whole system gets loose with just turning the ratchet left. It has a tensioner pulley that is on a bracket that has arms that move those arms are set in place by threaded bolt and nut in two different places you only need to loosen up one I think I shine the camera on the front side of the bolt which is on the belt side and then straight back behind it is a nut loosen up that nut and you should be able to slide the tensioner pulley bracket which will loosen up the belt it is in the video I'm sorry it's a long video I'm not saying watch it again for credit because I'm not even monetized but if you pay attention to the video it should go into detail
