- Here is our first test shot with a preproduction model of the new Canon EOS R5 C. We have a look @ internal 12 Bit 8K RAW 50p, skintones, Canon Log 3 + LUT, 120fps slow-motion, S35 and S16 RAW, image stabilization and more ... Have look at our extensive review of the Canon EOS R5 C here: www.slashcam.d...
Beautiful work. The footage is rich, and well saturated. Over time, I suspect that this camera will become a favorite among professional users. Well done! 😊👍
I'm surprised how clean that 120p footage looked. Looks pretty much perfect.
I think this might have just sold me on it
Thank you very much for your illustrative camera analysis. Your work is outstanding. This camera seems almost perfect in your capable hands, although you did not move very much and did not test it with a gimbal with complex camera movement. Some reviews state that the EOS R5 C has the same dynamic range as the R5, which is sensibly lower than the C70 or other "real" cinema cameras. On your website you indicate that the Sony a7sIII does not have more dynamic range than the canon R5, although they advertise so. Any opinion on the R5 C regarding dynamic range?
On a side note, UA-cam seems to introduce artefacts on the postproduction titles text when you have a moving image 0:30 1:49 .... so if UA-cam deforms the text it probably introduces deformation on the camera image.
Hi BP. Dynamic Range on the EOS R5 C should be the same as the EOS R5 (which was already pretty good). Cheers. Rob/slashCAM
@@slashcam It is actually better! The CLog 3 profile is somehow better on the C with at least one stop higher DR.
Lovely! Can't wait for the lab tests of dynamic range/latitude of this one vs R3, Z9, etc! Any idea when those are coming?
Better DR than the R3. Check Gerald Undone review of each, he has Imatest DR results for both.
How do you feel the image quality compares to R3's 6k raw? Not in terms of resolution (obviously 8k is more resolution), but in terms of overall look?
It´s very close to the R3 - very easy to mix&match both cameras. I would expect a tiny bit better lowlight performance on the R3 due to bigger pixels. Most difference in look and feel will be IBIS in R3 when handheld. Cheers. Rob/ slashCAM
Again nicely done.
Very nice! Which lens do you use in this footage?
Question, were the RAW S35 shots recorded in HQ mode?
Thanks for sharing this and great work, how did you find the autofocus if at all you used it?
Hi, AF performance was without problems. But I was using AF in good daylight-conditions. Testing in lowlight still pending. Cheers. Rob/ slashCAM
I call this the Autofocus Channel! THANKS!
Hi r. thx for the thx :-) (on a sidenote: we do use as well manual focus from time to time ;-) ua-cam.com/video/rsrQ7UA5-TY/v-deo.html )
I'm curious about real world rolling shutter
Canon wins 🔥
Great video. Hope you'll one day maybe be able to upload a clip or two straight from the memory card for us all to experiment with 🤠🤠
What does quick CC mean?
Any comment on the dynamic range?
Looks great!
NICE! How did you shoot 120FPS?
I just have a question, which CFexpress Type B card did you used to shoot at 8K 60FPS?

Hi how to turn on autufocus in 120P?
Can you compre the 6K RAW S35 to the GH6's 5.7K MFT Prores and the Pocket 6K / 6K Pro's 6K S35?
Pocket 6k get outa here
hard to judge the Dynamic range whith this overcast wheather...
hendheld? really?? the stabilization is insane!!!
As I understand, the R5 C has no IBIS, which, paradoxically, seems to play in favor of a good and stable image if the camera person is not shaking or walking.
@@blaspayri oh, ok. looks like it’s been shot on a tripod. amazing.
@@blaulicht13 From their written review "Unlike the Canon EOS R5, the Canon EOS R5 C (like all cine cameras we know) does not offer sensor stabilization. The reason with the EOS R5 C is likely to be both construction and "cine" related. Due to the integrated fan unit, the sensor cannot be mounted free-floating. Accordingly, Canon had to make a compromise here.
On the other hand, sensor stabilization is not very popular - at least in the cine segment. For car shots, wide-angle shots and handheld pans, disturbing artifacts can occur here - in addition, there is often a lack of control over the type of stabilization.
For us, the lack of sensor stabilization in the Canon EOS R5 C is the most important shortcoming of the Canon EOS R5 C - and this for a simple reason: The sensor stabilization of the Canon EOS R5 is among the best stabilization currently available in the full-frame DSLM segment. In combination with an optically stabilized lens, you can often still use shots for which you would otherwise have needed additional external stabilization. Thus, an (optionally disengageable) sensor stabilization is at the top of our wish list for future successors.
However, if you don't depend on having the best possible stabilization available in run&gun mode (running, walking), you should be able to get along well, especially with optically stabilized lenses (and "Digital IS" if necessary):
On our test shoot with Caro, we had no problems with insufficiently stabilized, handheld footage in the 70mm telephoto range as long as we didn't move with the camera. The optical stabilization of the Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8L IS USM was well sufficient for corresponding shots."
On the homepage they wrote that they used the "Sachtler Flowtech75" stativ. So I think we can see where this really good stativ was used. I like the RAW colors much more than the 10 Bit non RAW colors, and I can't wait to get my exemplar to test my own where the IBIS from the R5 works better than the R5 C without IBIS and where we get a cleaner image without the shaking sensor.
@@blaspayri R5 C has 5 axis electronic IBIS
Does the 120fps have face detect auto focus?
Unfortunately, it does not. The Canon R5 (not the R5C) does have 120fps with face detect autofocus. Hoping the R5C will get it one day in a firmware update, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
120 fps Slowmo is still overheat ? time limitation?
No limits in all modes. you may only be limited by the battery or memory cards
We tested 8K 50p RAW and recorded over 100 min. nonstop (only battery and card-change) without problems so I would not expect problems with 120 fps. Cheers. Rob/ slashCAM
Is this 2:35:1 ?
I think I am going to be broke.
Same🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
But potential more able to make some money
Same, but it will pay up fast
This is not the R5C. These are shots taking from the R5 when it first released. Same location same talent in the same clothes.
Hi James, Rob from slashCAM here. You are wrong. I shot with a preproduction model of the Canon EOS R5 C. We often shoot with Caro - so it can happen that she wears the same clothes (and we often shoot in the same location). The R5 cannot shoot 8K RAW 50p or XF-AVC. Cheers. Rob/slashCAM
lol you couldn't have looked very closely
Do you honestly think I came here to watch a woman moving around on my screen. Like are you serious ?
