Games are very predictable which ones are gonna be great and which ones aren't. This just hasn't shown any gameplay so very sketchy

Some have, just cinematic gameplay where the UI and stuff is turned off. The game isnt fully polished yet so if they just show everything people are going to get angry over how it looks.

No talk of melee combat at all? Really looking forward to how that looks/plays. Knife and sword combat in dune is super important
And they didn't manage to make it right in Conan Exile. A game about the most famous fictional fighter.

Other preview commenters have mentioned that melee combat is in the game. Some of the animations looked stiff but acceptable.

The amount of guns is concerning tho, didn't see any hand-to-hand combat at all.
They use reaaally slow bullets. Or they just like nuclear explosions from shields.
It's possible guns might be used since shields attract sandworms,(at least in the books) still worried about the lack of melee though
They explained you won't be able to shoot shields, came up with lore reason that guns have a safety feature, preventing the nuclear reactions.

No worm riding, No sandwalk, No hand to hand combat with close up knife and sword executions. No desert bike shootouts, No traversal parkour during gunfights. The main protagonist literally has one expression throughout the whole trailer. There is still so much work that needs to go into this game.
It looks more like a scam project then actual game.
It's a survival game. Not a story game. There is no protagonist. It's multiplayer.
They had a sandwalk but actively chose to take it out because it would've been a boring mechanic that took too long to go from one place to the next.

They're not CGI, but in Engine cinematics. And there already have been some gameplay snippets, even though they've been quite short...

Unreal engine was used for this game and the movie. The assets are being used in both :)
Side note: sloppy source tagging. Most of the movie footage tagged as "Dune 2" was from the first movie.

Honestly it would be epic if the Dune saga were turned into video games as meticulously crafted as the Witcher Series.
If you have ever played their previous game Conan Exiles, don't expect anymore than what is offered there. Game developers tend to use what worked in the past over and over again instead of innovating on gameplay.
All these trailers and marketing efforts, yet no actual gameplay. I'm getting major red flags from all this thusfar

Hearing that much praise from a game that doesn't look fully baked yet is somehow conncerning.
They saw a one hour presentation which likely included gameplay, cinematics, character creation, etc. That's why.

Lazy devs try not to make boring survival games because they cant write a story or program npcs challenge (impossible)
He who controls the Spice may control the universe, but he who controls the Dune IP will flood the universe with microtransactions.
Remember guys, this game is maybe 80% PvP-focused with base raiding like Rust where in the more later parts of the game, you are almost always forced to PvP, so if you want to chill and explore then this game is not for you.
That's actually not true it's mostly pve actually and there's pvp zones and pvp events.
I'm a big fan of desert settings, and I've had this vibe for a while that it would be cool in a game to have to properly prep for a trek across the desert

IGN recently crapped themselves so hard with that terrible RE5 take it's hard to take anything they say seriously anymore. Also, they're showing images from Dune and claiming it's Dune 2, so their quality control is a bit off.
Still, I'm hopeful for this game, but will need to see unrestricted gameplay footage before I'm hyped for it.

Game is not going for early access it's going straight to full release.
Whether it succeeds or flops, doesn't really matter. Huge fan of the movies and books, and those aren't going anywhere, so. I'll give it a shot and see if it's fun, but if not, then no big deal. Only gonna get it when it's on sale anyway lol.
I've seen so many projects that overpromised and under-delivered that I'm not getting hyped up until release. This one kind of reeks of that at the moment.
Dune is a crafting survival open world mmorpg. No offline or single player mode. You can play with others. Sandworms cannot be killed.
