The melee combat should be better at this point while the shooting mechanics should be the questionable parts. From a project management standpoint, I don't know why I'd do it in the other direction. Let's polish what we know and then we can spend the rest of our development time experimenting with what's new [to us]. That way, if it comes to this, it's easier to cut things or add them later. That they never got Conan Exiles quite right and are basically telling us that melee is an afterthought here, doesn't leave me with a lot of hope. This is Alpha stage stuff, not beta.
The ease of use of Unreal Engine 5 has made all these games look the same and generic. It's basically buy stuff and plug and play. Games are looking their identity.

Here's the fix: For Honor-style directional melee combat inputs when locked on an enemy. Then just tidy up the non-locked animations. It's the only way to simulate a dune knife fight accurately.
Really hyped for this, but as a primarily solo player I do not like there not being any content for me at end game. I am a hardcore player who loves to grind to max out my characters and love to build. Wish these games would add some sort of faction that can opt out of pvp in certain areas and still give the opportunity to get end game materials solo, just at a much slower pace, of course.
It looks pretty good to me. If they can do the zones right, I think it would be a pretty good game to play. Will it be free to play though or will they be a subscription?
They don't want to hire a proper Character animation guy because they would have to fire someone else. They have the same problem Bethesda had before Microsoft stepped in.
They are the Conan exile devs… I loved Conan exiles back in early access & they actually finished it and brought it PASSED the 1.0 official release (not many devs can say as much) not that I played Conan for the long run but EA felt decently polished and them continuing it for a long while is a good sign for me at least
It’s been in beta since near the end of 2023. In June this year it went to persistent closed beta. 24/7 access. They’ve had much longer to develop this game than they were allowed for Conan
There's plenty of more fun and interesting Survival games out there for me, if you guys are happy with this kind of quality then good for you. I am not. Just look at the polish and quality V Rising launched into early access with. I won't say anymore than that.
Looks like the play style id be interested in isn’t catered too. I’d prefer to go the fremen survivalist route. Using the dessert and its creatures, like shai-hulud sietch caverns, more heavily than vehicles and construction. Other than that I love the books and will probably pick it up regardless.
This better have voip, there’s been a recent trend with these type of games not having proximity voice chat and it immediately turns me and my friends off of the game, proximity voice chat is the backbone to these kind of games, social interactions will be the driving force of the end game content
This looks rough holy hell. I was looking forward to it. Definitely just going to watch someone else play at best. Too many great games for whatever that was.
My interest dropped the moment I found out it was developed by Funcom. I know people like to make fun of a lot of Triple-A studios like Blizzard and Bioware but no studio, and I repeat no studio has done less with more then Funcom. It is the worst Triple-A studio by a mile.
that's kinda the problem with watching information about a game that isn't out yet in general. The more you learn about it before playing it, the less interesting and exciting it will be for you.
@@ASIRA89 Yeah the older I get the less I want to see about the games I play or the movies I watch. It's better to go in blind with lots of possibilities for surprises.

I will say while the climbing thing is cool I could see it being a big issue with people being max level and max stamina sitting miles high and just picking off players and there's nothing you can do to counter it because they will just rat up there and you cant reach it could very easily make areas unreachable if they just sit in a chokepoint that leads to a town or something to grief everyone
The "robotic" movement is indeed awful..looks like a game from the early 2000s.. AND if the end game will be mostly PVP, it will piss off / demotivate many-many PVE players for sure.
A friend has been playing for at least 6 months now. Its worse than what you see as ranged combat is negated by the shields forcing melee. The idea is good but the game itself is probably at least 2 years away from being ready for public testing and they wont let it take that time

Yeah, Exiles kind of flopped then it came back for a bit with a new DLC but t hen dropped again. It has barely 100 players on daily now on Steam.
We all learned as kids that if a video game is based on a movie and isnt spiderman its guaranteed to blow
It reminds me of many free to play games. I hope they improve it a lot.
The ease of use of Unreal Engine 5 has made all these games look the same and generic.
It's basically buy stuff and plug and play. Games are looking their identity.
been following funcom games for a long time. No way this is going to be ready by 2025
Depends on how long they have been making it for. I know most of their games take at least 6 years to be even slightly ready.
This is exactly what I expected 😂
I know I shouldn’t I REALLY know I shouldn’t but I will in fact pre order this game😂
I can’t help it I’m a sucker for these types of games the chains these games hold on me is crazy😭
04:40 Are we looking at the same footage?? The movement looks AWFUL -- jerky and hard, there's no momentum to it, no weight, no smoothness. I hate it lol.
Here's the fix: For Honor-style directional melee combat inputs when locked on an enemy. Then just tidy up the non-locked animations.
It's the only way to simulate a dune knife fight accurately.
Is there an option to play this game in 1st person mode as well?
Really hyped for this, but as a primarily solo player I do not like there not being any content for me at end game. I am a hardcore player who loves to grind to max out my characters and love to build. Wish these games would add some sort of faction that can opt out of pvp in certain areas and still give the opportunity to get end game materials solo, just at a much slower pace, of course.
It all depends on the price, if full price NAH
over the shoulder camera is fine, but why why why no shoulder swapping
Sounds really interesting!
I just hope it won't be too PvP focused.
It looks pretty good to me. If they can do the zones right, I think it would be a pretty good game to play. Will it be free to play though or will they be a subscription?
have yet to see a game that changed much since the "beta". core combat and movement almost never changes this deep into development.
They don't want to hire a proper Character animation guy because they would have to fire someone else.
They have the same problem Bethesda had before Microsoft stepped in.
I’ve had concerns since they started their massive marketing push.
I'm just gonna pretend this is Anarchy Online 2
This looks like they just slapped the Dune skin over something else they were working on
In beta and releasing in 2025, this one is going to just end up like their other game. Pretty sure these are the developers who did Conan Exile.
They are
They are the Conan exile devs… I loved Conan exiles back in early access & they actually finished it and brought it PASSED the 1.0 official release (not many devs can say as much) not that I played Conan for the long run but EA felt decently polished and them continuing it for a long while is a good sign for me at least
@@ANDYBARLOTV yeah I'm not sure why people are acting mad about Funcom
It’s been in beta since near the end of 2023. In June this year it went to persistent closed beta. 24/7 access. They’ve had much longer to develop this game than they were allowed for Conan
There's plenty of more fun and interesting Survival games out there for me, if you guys are happy with this kind of quality then good for you. I am not. Just look at the polish and quality V Rising launched into early access with. I won't say anymore than that.
I know you’ve played funcom games before…. How many times burnt…. But the same guy leading..,
Looks like the play style id be interested in isn’t catered too.
Very excited for this, I will wait a bit to buy it but jt lokks really good
I think the pvp being the entirety of the end game will probably keep me from playing or investing any substantial time in this tbh...
This looks rough holy hell. I was looking forward to it. Definitely just going to watch someone else play at best. Too many great games for whatever that was.
My interest just dropped 200%. Ngl.
Funcom triplemA since when? @@Zederok
@@Zederok Same, but the game looks promising, they SAID they have kind of learned from their past mistakes ( conan exiles, etc )
Its Funcom, I never had high expectations to begin with, its in line with what they have produced before quality wise.
A gameworld as massive as this is planned to be is going to feel empty and soulless.
It looks amazing. But I'm an old fan of the setting and world, and this does not strike me as very faithful to it - more like using it as a framing device for the game they want to make. Which is... Fine. Disappointing, but fine.
My one hope is that it brings a lot of new fans to the setting - but for me it's a skip. I'd get too angry at how it failed to be Dune game I wanted.
... But really: Spice as reactor fuel? What were they smoking - Melange?
I will say while the climbing thing is cool I could see it being a big issue with people being max level and max stamina sitting miles high and just picking off players and there's nothing you can do to counter it because they will just rat up there and you cant reach it could very easily make areas unreachable if they just sit in a chokepoint that leads to a town or something to grief everyone
whens the last time a western online game dev had actual good physical combat?
Endgame will be zergfest.. i donnu if thats the endgame im out im a solo player.
I have concerns about Jaws-Hulud....
The resource harvesting mechanic is probably to discourage bots.
I hope they bring in factions besides the big two. I miss the Odos, Ix, and other Battle for Dune factions
Finally a mmorpg with an endgame that has sense. Finally a pvp mmorpg
The idea is good but the game itself is probably at least 2 years away from being ready for public testing and they wont let it take that time
on my notification the title is not "I've got concerns" (which feels like a title that was used already,
its "It's keep getting better and better" - the irony ??
Aaaaand as usual don't preorder and wait for full reviews AFTER release until one makes any judgement at all.
Talk about The finals season 4! 🙌😍
please please please do not shy away from pvp. we need it. it can't be an optional function
we have played enough MMOs to know if systems are super bad at the point they are showing off the game those systems are baked in foundationally and are not likely to drastically impove.
I'm in closed beta and generally I like idea of these type of games, but it never grabs me, it usually feels hollow and boring and grindy etc., but I keep coming back to DA and having fun even tho it's still clunky, there is some desync here and there and all that beta stuff. i like the world, lore, music and progression and content seems just right for me and I'm basically playin it like like single player.
Middest of the mid that ever Midded.
I really hope this game succeeds but I'm probably going to wait on it myself
I'm stoked for this game, but the animations strike me as alpha-level, not beta. I really hope they are planning to make these A LOT better before launch, not just a little better.
Running animation looks like the old school original fable animation
Assassin's creed looks amazing. Peak animation. Super smooth controls. Beautiful graphics. Top of industry ux design (LOL) This company on the other hand made age of Conan. Animations are stiff and weird in this exact way. Game feels great to play though. By far my favorite survival. Nailed the feeling of immersion and RPG survival fusion. Pick your values. No one is gonna deliver in every category. Feel free to tell me the game that does so I can correct you.
This gives me the Piranha Bytes' ELEX vibes
For some reason this just gives me Anarchy Online vibes.
The characters dont exactly seem like they belong in the desert with their smooth pretty skin and the sandworms themselves just look ugly but a man can hope
Bro I had concerns when i heard Dune and MMO in the same sentence
Oh boy, looking forward to Conan Exiles Reskinned next year ❗ 👀
I like Ark so i cant complain on what the combat looks like. Lol. But i really do hope this game is good ive really been looking forward to this game. I liked the movies and it 1 of my favorite books.
They should try to making character movement similar to shadow of mordor, or older assassin creed series.
